I had no idea the House of Lords had been so useful recently. The BBC website says:

"since May [...] there has been a defeat on every piece of legislation that has come through the Lords [...] the government has been defeated in 75% of votes in the Upper House - an extraordinary number."

Does anyone else find it hilarious that there's a recruitment advert for M16 just to the right of our thread? Can you imagine us all doing that? I mean, we're doing quite well at being anonymous, but I'm not sure I could pull of the Milk Tray Man stuff.

fuzzpig · 27/10/2015 12:19

Congratulations! I LOVE the names, both Lysander and Xander are gorgeous :) Thanks

Whatabout · 27/10/2015 12:21

Congratulations breathless! Great name and what a lovely short labour! Gabriel is seven weeks today, goes so fast with the second, asleep on my lap and sending coos to his fugal brother Grin

Whatabout · 27/10/2015 12:24

Collie, great ideas, I'm thinking I could take a portion of homemade chilli and we could have nachos for lunch one day and jacket potatoes another. Filling the two year old isn't easy! I also think I might take pizza dough and me and DS1 can make those for us. Great idea about cheese scones, I can do straws too, lovely to have nice home made savoury snacks.

AdoraBell · 27/10/2015 12:24

Congratulations toobreathless Thanks also love the names Grin

Today will be spends as going to next town for cinema.

Unescorted · 27/10/2015 12:32

ipsos I thought of you when I saw that advert. You should Grin

Does anyone have a good cracker recipe? All the ones I have are a bit worthy...

ipsos · 27/10/2015 12:39

blueteapot · 27/10/2015 13:59

Well i am checked in to my hotel, going to be camping here for the rest of the day studying... still frugaleering though, just nipped to boots across the road and got 2x meal deals with points to do for lunch and dinner :) one with a little pint of milk for my room kettle. Apparently they keep all the good stuff for belfast lol, I have sushi and gu puddings wouldnt get that in our local boots! Cant wait for tomorrow to be over though I am rather enjoying the peace and quiet :)

blueteapot · 27/10/2015 14:01

For all you know ipsos could already be MI6 and is throwing us off the scent!

ipsos · 27/10/2015 14:16

Blue I love you for saying that. I am so un-M16, you wouldn't believe. I can't even watch Miss Marple because it gives me the jibblies.

blueteapot · 27/10/2015 14:21

Of course, ipsos, of course.

Lovetoknit · 27/10/2015 14:29

Collieputthekettleon · 27/10/2015 14:40

ipsos blue hahaha! Grin I'd apply but I get the giggles when under pressure. Not sure if the MI6 would appreciate that.

love oooh are they? Think we'll pop along to Lanhydrock too!

CremeEggThief · 27/10/2015 15:14

Hope it goes well, Blue.
NSD here. For the first time ever, I'm making a veggie roast dinner on a week day! There was a poll on my local Mums in... and I was astonished that so many people up here have roasts during the week. Only 2 or 3 of us out of over 100 responses never have them during the week.Confused It's a new one on me at the age of 37, but seeing as I have the ingredients and the time today, why not?

CremeEggThief · 27/10/2015 15:25

I am easily pleased these days. I put £20 on the gas meter last Tuesday and there's still £5.60 leftHalloween Smile. So under £15 for a week of having the heating on for 5-6 hours a day isn't too bad at all.

Badders123 · 27/10/2015 15:42

Well, spendy day today.
Wine and card for DC paediatrician who is leaving this week
Halloween crap...pumpkins, sweets for trick or treaters etc
It's also our local village fair this weekend so will need some cash if DC want to go.
Also bought some storage bags for Xmas gifts and picked up my wrapping paper.
Tomorrow it's my hair appt so another spendy day :(
I see no end in sight......

ipsos · 27/10/2015 16:30

Blue Collie One day they'll realise we're all in it together. Wink

Star2015 · 27/10/2015 16:38

Congrats Breathless!

Thanks for all the hellos and welcomes... I need to get back to being frugal before I can post on here without Blush

Have a good evening all!

Fluffycloudland77 · 27/10/2015 16:48

Welcome Star and Stella.

Congratulations Breathless. Lysanders a lovely name.

90p asda.
£1.15 Tescos using my frozen veg etc vouchers.
£1 on a fleece throw for the cats basket.

Paid a cheque in at the bank and got offered a credit card Hmm. I said no. This is why I like the automated paying in machines, no hard sell.

badders Can you claim for the pumpkins on topcashback? they cover most supermarkets. Our neighbour has 3 sitting on her porch, they aren't even carved. It looks like she forgot to take her shopping in.

Stellar67 · 27/10/2015 16:51

Thanks for the welcome all, yes Victorian seems to be the way to go. Kids up chimneys next....
I was NSD, till I went online and decided to make homemade flavoured vodkas as gifts for Christmas. Am still hoping it will end up cheaper, and I can have the leftovers...Halloween Blush

Whatabout · 27/10/2015 17:10

£69 on sainsbury shop, lots of Christmas food and from next week I have to feed the toddler a lot more.
Roast chicken
Chicken risotto
Enchiladas
Maple sausage tray bake
Beef stew and dumplings
Tuna pasta bake

needastrongone · 27/10/2015 17:24

Evening.

Wonderful news breathless and lovely names, hope you are resting a touch and doing ok.

Welcome stella and star.

NSD today. Probably used a quarter of a tank of fuel in the horse box taking DD to train with a friend, but the session was great and it was an enjoyable day.

Pasta bake for tea with extra roasted veggies. With DH and DD being away, we can eat lots of veggie stuff.

bbcessex · 27/10/2015 17:37

help.. save me from frittering on ebay! DD needs new clothes.. I do have a budget for it, but quite fancy seeing if I can pick up some bargains for her - was looking at ebay but was thinking also of having a look around the local charity shops... what do you reckon, anyone had success?

Badders123 · 27/10/2015 17:49

I used to have great luck on eBay but I'm afraid since they put the postal charges up people now seem to try and claw back money that way. Also had a bad experience wi the last lot of stuff I won...really not good. And e bay refused to refund me even though I sent photos which clearly showed that the item was not as described!
I get my DC clothes from asda, sainsburys, h and m and primark. Ds1 in particular is growing so quickly I can't keep up!
So....I would suggest sainsburys online - 25% off this week. You can also click and collect so no postal charges.
Also h and m. I've had some really nice stuff from there for DC.
Also primark. Nice and cheap! :)
