Hope it's okay to start the new thread since the other one is already full
£1 at Cornwall Ambulance shop for 3 books for dc after I dropped off my old slow cooker and some books and £1 at Prospect hospice for some wool and fabric
Just made cauliflower cheese with some bacon and cavolo nero for dh who had it for lunch and there is enough for his dinner too, the rest of us are having homemade burgers, buns and wedges

Welcome Stella and Star! This is the friendliest part of mumsnet in my eyes. Hope we can help as much as you need.

TooBreathless massive congratulations!! Love it when we have thread babies. Hope miniWhat is doing well too. I love all the names. Xander is beautiful! We had both that and Gabriel on our "lists" when we were having DD. But alas she was a girl.

Not a very frugal day. Spent £40ish on Amazon before even getting to work this morning on Xmas presents. Today was payday and it's already looking grim. But it's all in our Xmas present budget. Just £350 for everyone apart from each other. And DP is getting DSDs present when he trades in his old iPhone and using the cash from that. DD is done apart from obligatory IKEA kitchen.

£6.50 on eBay for stocking fillers for the girls and friends children.
45p cup of tea at work

Got about £200 left after today's spends and DDs kitchen for about 1/2 of the family. Trying to get it all done this month. Thank god for the Christmas bargain thread!

SpottyTeacakes · 27/10/2015 18:01

Congratulations breathless!! So lovely Smile

LSD £2.60 hospital parking.

bbcessex · 27/10/2015 18:22

thanks for the tips Badders - I hadn't thought about Sainsburys, will try that and step away from the eBay.. agree with you on the postal charges too :-(

Ememem84 · 27/10/2015 18:23

Bit of a spendy one here.

£1.70 on purple thread and some buttons;
£38 on Amazon for Filofax refil, iron on fleece and new waterproof coat (total cost initially was £69. Reduced to £58 once I got to checkout then £20 voucher used)
And £24 in new look on shoes and a pair of tights.

Almost also spent £84 on smart black boots for work in dune. Probably will buy them as will get lots of wear but will topcashback/ check voucher cloud first.

Oh and also a casual £20,000 paid off my mortgage today.

Do I win biggest spend??!

Congrats toobreathless lovely news. Great name. Lysander. I love it. X

ipsos · 27/10/2015 18:27

bbc I've spent two days drooling over printers on ebay too. I should have my hands tied.

ipsos · 27/10/2015 18:27

Well done Em on paying off that chunk of mortgage. That's great. :-)

NK5BM3 · 27/10/2015 18:28

lovely name pointless! many congratulations.

em er - £20000 paid off?!?!? how?!?!?!? well done though.

couple of NSDs.

Ememem84 · 27/10/2015 18:37

NK dh had the money saved up for a deposit for a new place. the bank sent us a letter saying if we wanted to pay a chunky chunk off we could (apparently we can do this every year if we want..) I didn't realise exactly how much dh had saved up (though now I do)!

he figured it wasn't earning any interest in the bank, and could be used to pay down the capital. bish bash bosh. done. its frightening.

Badders123 · 27/10/2015 18:40

Many congrats pointless x
Em...wow. Well done!

SpottyTeacakes · 27/10/2015 18:42

I got a letter today saying our phone bill is going up from 14 to £18 a month Angry

Girlfriend36 · 27/10/2015 18:55

Congratulations Breathless lovely news, am Envy at such a quick birth as well mine was 4 long days Shock Hope you are all o.kay Smile

Been at work, my friend has had dd for the day so saved on holiday club I guess. Filled the car up £42, am loving the price of petrol at the moment!

Have been paid - woo hoo Grin

Collieputthekettleon · 27/10/2015 18:59

Just got back from the Sainsbury's TU sale. I spent £40 but used £10 of my Nectar Points (we have £20 left on Nectar now). I bought good fitting stretchy jeans that don't show off my arse crack! Amazing! Also a thick cable knit jumper, pyjama bottoms and trousers for DS.

I'm going to do the weekly shop tonight online. Feeling uninspired with the meal plan Sad

Ememem84 · 27/10/2015 19:01

girlfriend 4 days...? Really? But I thought it was all super quick and whatnot? can you tell I've not had babies

And I've found the boots I want online. Can get them down to £56 (by taking the vat off) and having them sent to store. Also 5% cash back.

I am winning today

Girlfriend36 · 27/10/2015 19:05

Hmm haven't been paid as much as thought I would be Sad need to check my payslip to work out why, annoying.

574ejones · 27/10/2015 19:06

Congrats Breathless and welcome to the newbies.

£3.40 on lunch and bread in Greggs. £70 on Lego for DS Xmas, but via cash back site, and got a free Christmas train.

Booked my summer holiday for next year while still 25% off plus got £58 cash back!

LaChatte that batch cooking sounds impressive.

Girlfriend36 · 27/10/2015 19:07

Em super quick? I don't think my cervix got that memo unfortunately Wink

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 27/10/2015 19:08

Congratulations breathless.

Welcome star and stella.

Here we go. Cameron trying to get his own back. It was inevitable really.

Badders123 · 27/10/2015 19:08

Oh! Forgot!
Was looking at a transformers history of thing (primus) in June for ds1s b day.
It was £75 :(
Saw it on amazon lightening deals this morning and got it for £20!
He will love it :)

Pointlessfan · 27/10/2015 19:16

Just lost my post. Congratulations breathless! Lovely news.
I'm exhausted, spent £91 in Asda - far too much but stocked up on frozen Quorn stuff which is on offer.
Will post meal plan later.

Whatabout · 27/10/2015 19:23

I really like seeing people's meal plans, it rewkky helps me to focus knowing we are all doing the same thing.

It was my birthday yesterday and I got some lovely money and vouchers. £50 in hobby craft is going to be lovely to spend. Helps me to be frugal as I can do my Christmas poncing and not spend money. Burlap wreath here we come :-)

ipsos · 27/10/2015 19:23

Thanks for the link Rafa. I can only begin to imagine the glee in the SNP headquarters as the conservatives do all the things that antagonise such a lot of Scots voters. (Taking money from poor people, and then changing the rules arbitrarily so they can get their own way.)

SpottyTeacakes · 27/10/2015 19:29

Hope you had a lovely birthday what Smile

northender · 27/10/2015 19:47

Wow em that's a great chunk to pay into your mortgage.
Fab news, another frugal baby Smile.
Happy birthday what
I think this thread is a lovely place to be, I've been here 2 or 3 years now (getting old, can't remember exactly how long Grin)
Okay day at Alton Towers today, the dc really enjoyed it though. With vouchers and including car parking, it was £26 a head so £78 for us, dh didn't go so hence just the 3 of us. Didn't spend a penny more as I'd packed up food & drink.
Not sure what we're doing tomorrow yet, possibly cinema for James Bond.

babsmam · 27/10/2015 19:47

Happy birthday what.
Kids spent their own cash in toys r us.
£7 in h&m on t shirts for dd. Would have been more but ds is not a natural shopper. Have good Christmas ideas now though

Arsenicinthesugarbowl · 27/10/2015 20:51

Hello? May I join your frugalling?!
I'm a long time over spender with repeated buyers remorse! I have budgeted for the month and plan to withdraw cash to keep me on track.
I'm also hoping for a lovely yet frugal Christmas Smile
