blue heels!! I'm very impressed. Not sure I could go that far. Mind you I do work in the community and have to visit some...interesting...areas and homes so never dress tooooo smart!

toobreathless · 19/10/2015 14:19

blue I am also a gp trainee with just under one year to ago, although in practice it will be 20 months due to mat leave. I very rarely admit to it on here but amazing that you are too. Do you have children? (Excuse the nosiness!) I have DDs as aged 2 and 4 yrs.

My cheque from HMRC for text refund appeared today so I am Grin it almost makes up for the lack of a baby (40+4...) I didn't really believe it until I saw the cheque, assumed it was a scam or something. It's for £306!

NSD so far but am off to ALDI later, need to do some meal planning first. I am routinely feeding 4-6 adults and 2 children at the moment which is fairly expensive. Last week including all top ups came to £110 which I suppose isn't terrible.

SpottyTeacakes · 19/10/2015 14:21

Fuzz definitely better. I'm still longing for an Indian hopefully dh will treat us once he's been paid Grin

I've got a headache that's not budging. Have managed a nsd but have lots of stuff in my Amazon wish list. Just wish the pending money in my quidco account would be payable. The co op one has been almost three months Angry

blueteapot · 19/10/2015 14:36

toobreathless wow! Not to derail the thread but yes I have DS aged 2 yrs 8 months and DD whos 8 months :) think we might start trying for DC3 while in ST3, I have all of my ST3 to do, going 80% LTFT so should take a bit longer. Really not looking forward to locum (esp since prices are fixed where I am so its almost not worth it!) hence frugaleering to save up to locum just enough to keep up appraisal while the kids are tiny :/

my cheque also arrived today. Are we the same person lol???

Collieputthekettleon · 19/10/2015 14:39

breathless and blue Grin you two are making me smile!

There's a 40% off Body Shop voucher code online and Quidco are also offering 10% on top. Really tempting but must not buy anything. Not a sausage. Not even for an upcoming birthday.

ifonly4 · 19/10/2015 14:43

Need a sit down, just walked to Lidl (further away) to buy five items to find no semi skimmed milk for DD and bananas that are rock hard and won't be edible tomorrow. Bought cans tomatoes & kidney beans & yogurts - £1.63, then had to walk to Tesco for milk and bananas £1.58. Two supermarkets in one day is too much. Actually wants to loose a few pounds so I shouldn't moan about extra exercise.

babsmam · 19/10/2015 14:46

Speaking of quidco I got an email to say the money will no longer auto paid but will have to manually move it.

Whatabout · 19/10/2015 14:48

Good days and bad days for spending here. Husband abroad so I'm home alone with the kids (ds1 is at nursery for two final weeks thankfully!). Yesterday £10 on McDonald's for lunch (how to bribe a toddler..), £5 on a new cable to charge the iPad, husband has taken ours to the other side of the world. Yay.
Today £60 in Asda on baby clothes. Nothing fits quite right this baby, I think things have shrunk in washing! He's also very long so at 5 weeks and 6 days old some of the 0-3 is snug on his feet. This gets me 33 vests and sleepsiits in 0-3 and 3-6. Last baby was a summer baby so clothes are also wrong season!
£90 on sainsvury delivery, needed a lot of laundry things and I have bought pull ups to try and decrease how many accidents ds1 is having.
Need to pay £60 for swimming but feeling like a chicken with looking at the bank account following all the big sieves.

Just fab boots are going back, they don't fit and the quality is awful. £11 back.

Two small eBay wins, pram suit and a nice outfit £9.

blueteapot · 19/10/2015 15:24

babs thats right I had to log into my quidco the other day and 'request a payment'

Spotty I emailed quidco through their system and said my ao payment was pending for 3 months and they authorised it for me? worth a try?

Collie :D I find bodyshop have a permanent sale on / codes everywhere so you can avoid buying this time safe in the knowledge that next time you look there will prob be a code anyway...

What asda baby clothes are fab and wash well so thats money well spent :)

SpottyTeacakes · 19/10/2015 15:57

Good idea blue I've emailed them fingers crossed!

SpottyTeacakes · 19/10/2015 16:15

Oh no! I've just started my risotto only to realise I don't have any risotto rice!

TheOnlyPink · 19/10/2015 16:26

spotty have you got regular rice? Chuck in a cup of regular rice, and double the amount in stock, lid on and stir here and there. Not creamy risotto, but still edible!

northender · 19/10/2015 16:28

Pudding rice is what I often use, if you have any.

SpottyTeacakes · 19/10/2015 16:40

No rice at all! I've had to make a cheese sauce but we hardly had any milk and it's really not good Blush I've done pasta

Fluffycloudland77 · 19/10/2015 16:44

em The mortgage thing is a knotty one. www.moneysavingexpert.com/mortgages/mortgage-overpayment-calculator#results Put the numbers in here and see what it says. That amount would knock 4 years off my mortgage.

Ipsos Have a look at chop-clocks, I bet that would bring those bills down. I've been mimicking it with a timer and it's very effective. I do 30mins on, 30 mins off.

£12 on work supplies.

blueteapot · 19/10/2015 16:48

Holy moly I've just plugged it in to that mortgage calculator because fluffy did

Collieputthekettleon · 19/10/2015 17:21

I just found out that Ikea have launched a £25 play kitchen! Smile thank goodness. Ds REALLY wants one (he is obsessed with the kids ikea kitchens) but couldn't afford them anywhere. Ordering this asap. It's smaller than the original but that's perfect for a 2 year old.

needastrongone · 19/10/2015 17:27

Grin at ipsos, describing herself as a lampost...

I have just saved a shed load of money by switching mortgage deals. The sting in the tail is that I ought to have done this months before I did Sad

Tea in the oven, we usually eat later but going out. Cheesy pasta bake with chorizo, cauliflower and peas. Added a bit of cream to the pasta sauce to stop it from drying out (used a sauce, it's a working day) which smelt a bit off so here's hoping we all don't die Grin

Managed just to spend on the cleaner today.

babsmam · 19/10/2015 17:28

I have just got a 20% off playmobil online shop as I signer dc up to the birthday club

Lovetoknit · 19/10/2015 17:33

£6 at Tesco and £20 at Lidl including a hooded top to keep me warm at home when I work
There is another £5 off £40 shop in Lidl News valid from 24th October 2015 until 1st November 2015
I am pear shape too , I used to buy my jeans from Gap at Outlet Village but since we moved down here I found a pair in Asda which I like because they go above my belly button and keep my jelly belly in Smile
Sweet and sour pork from leftovers after yesterday roast with rice for dh, dd and me, the other dd and ds will have sausages with pots and veg since they don't like rice or sweet and sour sauce

Bishboshbash · 19/10/2015 17:48

This thread moves so fast I am struggling to keep up!
NSD here as me and DS are full of the cold so we haven't left the house. DH will have probably spent £5 on lunch and bus for uni though. I struggle to have completely NSDs as there is always bus money/parking. There is no where within walking distance where I live!
On holiday next week so trying to be very frugal this week.Managed to cut our car insurance by 50% plus £30 quidco so that's helpful!

SpottyTeacakes · 19/10/2015 17:50

Ds has drawn all over my sitting room wall

Girlfriend36 · 19/10/2015 17:57

Hello all Smile

Good to know we have a few Drs on the thread Grin Bobbly are you a Dr as well? I'm a community nurse.

Not sure what shape I am Confused think I sound most like ipsos Grin have not bought clothes for ages until recently when it reached the point that I had nothing to wear that didn't have holes in it Blush Found a few bits in the Next sale but still need jumpers.

A few small spends today

£2 parking can claim it back.
£1 on some fresh eggs
£3.50 on chocolate, biscuits (for work) and softner.

Also going to give £5 towards a colleagues leaving gift later.

Pointlessfan · 19/10/2015 17:58

Oh no spotty what was his medium so to speak? If wax crayon I've see Kim and Aggie remove it with a hairdryer I think - bound to be on Youtube.
What if the babygros get a bit short you could cut out the feet and use socks instead.
After all this talk of work wear, I had physio on the way to work today so ended up wearing black trackie bottoms and trainers all day, nobody said a word about it, wondering if I could get away with it more often!
NSD here but have to do a very big shop tomorrow and pay the car tax. I'm exhausted but am determined to mark a set of books this evening. Just cooking rice to go with sc curry. So nice to get in from work to the smell of dinner already cooked.

SpottyTeacakes · 19/10/2015 18:04

It was a stamp! They're being horrible and I've now had a headache for nearly six hours. Luckily dh is home!
