Welcome lauren my weakness is also clothes. I'm actually sat here browsing the Dorothy Perkins sale. I have no idea why! None of it fits me. Blush

I must start withdrawing cash for "Collie spends". Really tricky as I buy mostly online.

Girlfriend36 · 18/10/2015 21:21

I find with clothes you have to almost go cold turkey, do not go into clothes shops and do not look online! Accept that you have 'enough' and do not need any more. I managed this way to stop buying clothes for myself however am not quite so good when it comes to dd Blush Also I only ever buy clothes when they are in the sale, point blank refuse to pay full price Grin

Lovetoknit · 18/10/2015 21:48

Well done spotty I am sure it will be tasty; one year we cut out the templates to make the gingerbread house but after we baked it I had to use lot of icing and edible glue to put it together and the roof only stayed on for one day before it caved in Grin the silicone mould is easier for dc and because you bake it inside the mould it keeps the shape really well Smile

Roast pork with stuffing and veg plus apple crumble for dinner tonight, also made breakfast bars, buns for lunchboxes and sweet bread for tomorrow

The gingerbread hearts from lidl are yummy just like the stolen bites Wink

Collieputthekettleon · 18/10/2015 22:01

The gingerbread houses look ace. Putting that on the Christmas Bucket List this year Smile

Scruffybear · 18/10/2015 22:08

Thanks all for the welcome, wise and friendly, so glad I found you all Grin. Electrolux2 I need to find some discipline and stop wasting money on food, endless top up shops ( + snacks &magazines that find their way in).My problem is zero patience, I have a need for immediate gratification, if I think we need something, even something trivial, I simply cannot hold out to buy it. Instead of thinking 'this week I spent £x on one thing, so let's get that another time,' I end up buying whatever else crops up, thinking we will tighten our belts at the next food shop or whatever, but of course that bit never happens! I need to clear credit card debt, start budgeting and behave like a grown up basically!! I thought you lot sounded v motivating, it makes me want to resist spending for once...I gather Nsds are what we are aiming for whenever possible! Thanks all for the welcome Flowers x

Just in, from seeing DS offSad. £35 round trip taxi fare. Off to bed now. Night all. X

Hope he has a good time and gets some sleep creme. When I was 15 I went to Holland with school. We set off at a similar time for a long coach trip from Sheffield to Gatwick and while most people slept I ate sweets and listened to my Walkman the whole way and tried to sleep on the v short flight instead.

£40 from eBay, yay! And there's a carboot near us next weekend so hopefully shift some more clutter there too.

NK5 Also - The man said that the reason why he wants original text is because the google indexing system prioritises websites that have unique (non-copied) text on them, so it's really valuable to him to have an expert write from scratch rather than just to buy in the same descriptions are everybody else has. That's a bit of luck for me isn't it?

ipsos · 19/10/2015 06:04

I thought you might like this summary email that my electricity and gas monitor just sent me. It kinds of takes my breath away that I spent all that on electricity. I had just been lulling myself into a nice it-only-costs-35p-a-go sense of security. Apparently 35p a go adds up.

Most of the cost was the washing machine, tumble dryer, dishwasher and microwave, and to be honest, I wouldn't be without them. I'd much rather spend the time earning money to pay for them than doing the work by hand.

babsmam · 19/10/2015 06:13

Is that all ipsos? you should have that done in a jiffy. Grinf

Welcome laurent and bear.

I have the total opposite problem I never spend on clothes but now I need to spend a lot as I look like a rag bag.

Ddog seems better today. The carpet smells better too. Fingers crossed.

Sainsbury shop needed today and a bit of cooking for the freezer

babsmam · 19/10/2015 06:15

Creme hope dc has a good trip. Rotten luck about the taxi but that is a stupid time to set off.

NK5BM3 · 19/10/2015 07:14

Thanks ipsos!

Lunch with colleague today. Oh and down payment for class Christmas dinner £25.

Collieputthekettleon · 19/10/2015 07:14

Oh my goodness ipsos! That's a lot of energy you've consumed.

My October goals aren't going too well. What a shite month for money

blueteapot · 19/10/2015 07:47

Another one here that looks like a rag bag, start back at work end of Nov and I need essentially a whole new wardrobe of clothes by then as I currently live in 2 pairs of jeans and a jumper / cardi and vest top in rotation. Everythings worn out and very little fits :( all suggestions welcome (apart from any that involve shopping for clothes which I hate). If one of you shoppers wanted to post me a capsule wardrobe that'd be awesome ;)

blueteapot · 19/10/2015 07:55

Ps welcome lauren / scruffy / other new folk.

Should be a spendy day today unfortunately as I have the gardener coming to tidy up (though he charges very little really) and would ideally like to get to toddlers this morning to tire the kids.

I love that energy email! Mine would be telling me off daily! Our electric works out at £67 a month on average, lot of stuff left on standby and heavy use of tumble / dishwasher... wonder what we could cut it down to?

Its baltic here this morning. Heating already on since 6.30 brr

Pointlessfan · 19/10/2015 08:01

blue I felt just like that when I returned to work. Pinterest gave me some ideas.
I bought a decent pair of trousers then got some tops in H&M. I've also started wearing some old, barely worn dresses for work and have got quite a lot of wear out of them now.

fuzzpig · 19/10/2015 08:18

spendyish day yesterday - although we got cheaper travelcards by going to the desk rather than buying on the machine, saved about £8?! Not sure how that happened. DCs really wanted macdonalds for lunch so that was cheaper than planned. Cinema event was lovely though - 14 animated shorts from around the world, some of the producers were there. It included the new Pixar one which will be shown with their new film next month :o

The gutting thing was my friend offered me a free ticket to the match at Twickenham! But by then I felt pretty rough, and we were on our way home. We had planned to head to a museum so I don't feel we really made the most of the travelcard!

Ememem84 · 19/10/2015 08:19

Nsd today. Am staying home. Studying. And catching up with washing.

blue what do you do? Is your job office based? Smart smart, smart casual, casual?

Mines office based but on the more casual side. I vary from pencil skirts and tops with cardigan to wrap dresses and boots to jeans cami and cardi.

Collieputthekettleon · 19/10/2015 08:23

blue and pointless I used Pinterest for ideas too. Clothes are my weakness, but barely anything fits me (short, big hips, bloated belly & small boobs) so I end up leaving it all unworn at the back of the wardrobe and still looking like a tramp in the few clothes that do fit me.

I have started returning stuff even if I don't have a receipt and I've also started selling the unworn clothes on eBay to make money for new decent quality stuff that I know fits.

It's working really well at the moment but I need new jeans that won't show my ass crack when I bend down.

Just selected the "towel" option on the washing machine and the programming was 4 hours long! Grin

Ememem84 · 19/10/2015 08:25

blue yes as other have suggested check out Pinterest. Search smart work outfits/casual work outfits and you'll get loads of ideas. Or pick an item of clothing search that.

fuzz assuming you are in London, last time I flew over the queue for he machines at gatwick was horrendous so went to the ticket desk instead. We were advised to get travel cards for our first day instead of regular train tickets into central and then use oyster. Saved us about £14. Love it when that happens!!

Dh is using my day off to his advantage and has just this second asked me to drop him in to work. Given that he's just got out of bed, and it's a half hour walk and he needs to be there by 9....and he's not breakfasted/showered/ironed shirt yet I think I'm going to have to.

Clever boy.

One load of washing is on. Tea is being made. Will have dippy egg and toast when I get back from dropping himself to work.

needastrongone · 19/10/2015 08:55

blue - I have moved into jumper dresses now for the winter. I find them really comfortable. They are also smart enough for work with a nice pair of boots. Economical too, as you are not buying a top and trousers. I have 2 from Next and one from M&S.

anna Hope the car buyer turns up.

Welcome laurent and scruffy

Todays spends will be £20 for the cleaner, that's it.

TheOnlyPink · 19/10/2015 10:01

collie I'm not sure what size you are, but I've got big hips too, Evans do a pear shape jeans, they start at size 14, and are lovely and generous on the arse. Might solve your problem! I don't usually shop in Evans unless I have to, but the pear shape are a nice fit.

scruffy you described me to a t! Huge welcome to the thread!

ipsos love your monitor! Well done on the work!

There seems to be no end to my shitty financial month! Need to go to the gp, which will cost €55. I had a cyst removed a few years ago, but it's come back. Breast clinic said I need to see a doctor for antibiotics etc sooner than I can get an appointment with them. We do not have €55 left. And already borrowed €100 from in laws for plumber. Pay day is Friday, cannot wait. I'll stop being such a moaner then!
