Well done on your expert packing Spotty :o DH thinks of it as Tetris.

Yesterday was spendy as DSD and I went to London to see a manga exhibition and a film - tickets were bought ages ago, but it was travel (super off peak thankfully) and dinner - although DSD requested a KFC so that was cheap :o film was absolutely amazing (UK premiere of an anime, part of the BFI festival - hence having to go to London for it) - the audience all clapped at the end. Really lovely to spend the afternoon with DSD as well.

Back in London tomorrow with DH and DCs for another festival film (a collection of short animations from around the world), at least we can use the family railcard for that, but not sure where we will eat. I was hoping we could fit in one of the museums to do some home ed stuff, but I'm pretty tired!

Spending all day indoors today - both my worky deadlines have come at the same time! But one will lead to a direct payment next week so that's good, and although I've enjoyed both projects I can't deny I'll be glad to have them both out of the way. I'm so awful for procrastinating! Blush But the writer whose book I'm typing has just told me she's started another one and has a third planned too... so I'm hoping she will want me to type those. If so I'll suggest doing it as she writes rather than all in one go at the end.

TheOnlyPink · 17/10/2015 10:21

fuzz your day out with dsd sounds so wonderful!!

Plumber is due in a bit, took absolutely ages to find one in the area, let alone one that would come asap. We have no water, but my neighbours are very kind. Will have to get a thank you gift. Hoping the plumber won't cost too much!
Glad I came on here last night instead of losing my temper with dh. He felt like shit over it.

Girlfriend36 · 17/10/2015 10:31

Collie that sounds horrible, have you taken lots of pain killers? If normal paracetamol and ibruphen not working you can get co-codomol OTC as well.

Dd has just wondered through to tell me she has counted up all her money and has £34 squirrelled away in her bedroom! Am a bit confused as to how she has that much Confused given that she doesn't really get pocket money, must be left over birthday/ Christmas/ Holiday money. She is a bugger for hiding it away and like her mother doesn't like spending it!

Going into town later as its carnival night here and there is stuff going on all day apparently! Carnivals are a Somerset tradition Grin

Ememem84 · 17/10/2015 10:55

collie that sounds awful. Hope you feel ok soon. If you have some drink some tonic water (with or without the gin...) the quinine in it will help smooth period pain.

Have just spent £2.42 on two freshly baked croissants from local french bakery and a litre of milk.

Will be off riding later £25. And have taken my boots to the post office to return them. Annoyingly the by post return option was via collect and send which isn't supported here. So had to pay for the postage. £7.40!!!

Thanks everyone! I'm feeling so tender & crampy. Confused being a woman is such hard work. For the first time I have bought Sainsbury's own brand tampons & pantyliners etc. They are superb!! I have calculated how much I roughly save per year by swapping brands and its £36 ish.

Can't complain! Grin

Get well soon electrolux

Fluffycloudland77 · 17/10/2015 12:41

I hope you feel better soon elextrolux, all the stress over the pip saga wont have helped.

collie Have you ever tried magnesium citrate? you take it all month but it really helps cramp in general. It's not easy to get it in diet.

Second shoeaholics order cancelled as not in stock, then back on the website. Email to ceo sent with screenshots of them showing in stock.

babsmam · 17/10/2015 12:52

Chops you feel better soon collie and Electrolux

£6.30 on chipper lunch between 4 of us.

SpottyTeacakes · 17/10/2015 13:12

Hope you feel better collie

£20 online at matalan on onesies for the dc for Christmas Eve, a Christmas table cloth and wrapping paper with tags.

SpottyTeacakes · 17/10/2015 13:31

We've eaten a whole loaf of tiger bread today Blush bearing in mind dd and ds only had one slice each...

Pointlessfan · 17/10/2015 14:00

Just put a load of left over veg in the sc to make minestrone, I've winged it a bit so I hope it works! Even chopped a broccoli stalk and chucked that in, feeling very frugal after a disastrous week spending wise!

Whatabout · 17/10/2015 14:52

Collie periods suck, hope you get a nap or something and pleased to hear the sainsvury review.

I did manage to get the swing together and ds2 was happy in there for breakfast so ds1 and I ate in peace.

Went to the forest near here for a walk, we have a parking pass so that was free, we walked up the tree top walk and had a look at the view. Nice to get some fresh air. Did have to buy petrol and some snacks on the way £57.

Was supposed to be at a party this afternoon but I'm too poorly to take ds1 and chase him whilst juggling ds2 so we are going to have a very quiet afternoon.

blueteapot · 17/10/2015 14:56

Got a letter from HMRC today which I thought was a demand for underpaid tax (£221) but DH has re-examined it and it turns out they owe me the tax back and I should be getting a cheque in the post! Find those HMRC letters so confusing, but good news at least, will go towards xmas. Hopefully the tax for my exam should come through too at some point which would be around £90 or so as well.

DH is out tidying the garden for winter with DS (raking leaves etc). Gardener coming back on Monday to do a final tidy up of weeds / grass etc. We have been unsuccessfully trying to pay him for last time since, so we will have to square him up for both on Monday. Needs doing though.

I don't think we'll be out today so should be a NSD.

It's absolutely freezing so we might light the fire later to save running all the oil. Oil at the lowest I've seen it in a while at the moment but we dont have spare funds until payday to top ours up

ifonly4 · 17/10/2015 15:01

Collie, feeling crap here as well. Tummy ache, slight headache and feel a bit sick - all hormonal. Luckily, DH is cooking tonight so I'll do a couple of small jobs soon and can then wallow in my self pity (oh and probably come back on here!). DH makes his own wine and it's not bad, so hope tea will come with a glass of that (I'm not feeling that sick!)

While DD was at her club this morning, spent £60 on curtains (have been cutting back a bit to get them), £17.07 petrol to avoid top up in week, £2.50 cat food (don't really need any, but always like a few extra as a back up) and £3.73 in Aldi on washing power, chocolate delights and pasta sauce.

Went £5 over my food budget this week, so will make effort to be careful next week.

babsmam · 17/10/2015 15:04

£42 in sainsbury on crap mostly
£30 on diesel
No more spends today

annatha · 17/10/2015 15:27

Dd was 7 weeks old last Xmas and we had a lovely low key day as a family of three. Meat in the slow cooker and our 1 shelf oven meant that we just snacked on Xmas dinner components over the course of the day. boxing day everyone descended and hell broke loose. Hoping for a similar relaxed day this year with the new baby and toddler in tow.

The man who agreed to buy my car was supposed to turn up this morning, and still hasn't arrived. Dh messaged him before leaving for work at 2 but we haven't heard anything. Really hope he isn't a time waster but not holding my breath.

Ememem84 · 17/10/2015 15:39

Slow cooker is on and I'm making apparently the worlds biggest chilli. Dh is hungover so hopefully it's magic curing chilli. He's also vegging watching rugby.

We've just been to coop and spent £45 on a shop which should last for a couple of weeks.

bobblypop · 17/10/2015 15:39

afternoon all.
hope those feeling poorly are soon better
anatha thats annoying about car
and how lovely to hear about all the Christmas babies!

£43 on Christmas presents...but got some good deals
dh gone to aldi..will see how much when he gets back.

filling is cooking to make enchilladas
then family movie night again with crisps!

have actually managed to despatch youngest 2 dc to cub camp so it is fairly peaceful here for a change!

Girlfriend36 · 17/10/2015 15:42

Hi all, hope the poorlie frugeleers feel better soon Flowers I've got a bit of a headache as well so planning on having a nap!

Been into town this morning, picked up the jeans I got in the Next sale, really like both pairs! Think will keep them as at £12 each they are a bargain and should do me for jeans for a long time. When in Next ended up getting dd some long sleeve tops they were 3 for £14 so not too bad and they look lovely (very soft cotton.)

Other spends
£41 filling the car up with petrol
£1 parking
£4.50 Greggs for lunch
£15 horse riding lesson.

God it soon adds up doesn't it?

Going to try and avoid a food shop this wend though and see if can eek out what we have till next Thursday, will need milk and eggs but otherwise should be o.kay.

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 17/10/2015 15:58

I tend to find that if I hit period pain with a couple of co-codamol as soon as I get the first niggly cramps it will deal with most of the pain. Are the sainsbury's own brand tampons/pads really that good? It might save me a fair amount of money if they are.

nsd yesterday. Strange low mood thing going on today, so spending could go either way.

SpottyTeacakes · 17/10/2015 16:08

I use tesco tampons but only like branded panty liners.

Annatha that's so annoying Angry

Roast dinner cooking meal plan as follows:

S: roast chicken
S: chicken, leek and potato bake
M: bacon risotto
T: goujons and chips
W:shepherds pie
T: spag Bol (freezer)
F: chicken korma

I spent £28 on four boxes of chocolate from hotel chocolat so that's some Christmas presents sorted.

Lovetoknit · 17/10/2015 16:51

collie and electro hope you both feel better soon Flowers
£18 at Asda, dd had costume fitting for ballet production so managed to pop in on my own since I left dh at home with the other ones
Dc asked for KFC for dinner so I am making my own with wedges and coleslaw, I think it will be under £10 for 6 (3 adults and 3 kids) so lot cheaper then actually going to there
3 loads of laundry done and managed to tidy up the garden before dh went to watch the rugby in the pub
All the talk about babies is making me broody; dd (9) was born in the beginning of December so that Christmas wasn't easy together with ds who was 16 month at the time but they grow up so quickly so enjoy it while it last Grin

£15 on a lovely lunch out with my friend, including my share of the tip. It was baked eggs in a dish, with black beans, salsa, avocado and sour cream, served with a slice of toasted sour dough bread. Absolutely luscious and I'm still full hours later although that might have something to do with the chair latte and the brownie and gluten-free lemon polenta cake we had afterwards too!
£6.50 bus fare.

Chai latte, not chair!
