Fingers crossed, fuzzpig.

Ipsos, hope you are feeling better soon. Agree with everyone else that you shouldn't do too much too soon.

Have floated the idea of increasing my hours to help with the cutting of the tax credits with my boss today. She didn't say no, which is a good sign. She did rush off to e-mail her boss, but I'm not sure what to read into that. Don't know whether it's good or bad.

Happy Birthday Em Cake

Pointlessfan · 02/10/2015 19:20

Happy birthday em!

Another NSD today - I think that's 3 this week. Just listening to the dishwasher doing all our dishes on the eco setting while I try to think where to have a day out tomorrow.

Have a good weekend everyone.

NiceandaSlice · 02/10/2015 19:25

Happy Birthday Em! And agree ipsos flu is grim, make sure you rest.
Expensive day today. Hairdresser (a mate of mine so does it for mates rates) colour and cut, £60. I am back to pastel pink. And my new glasses were ready - £102 with the thinner lenses - gulp - but I got a pair free so am going to keep them in the car. Resisted the temptation to grab a coffee on the way and am now in full frugal mode for the rest of the month. Have a 40th birthday coming up middle of month for a good friend of DH's and we are going to a gig in London so that won't be cheap, so no other indulgence!

Whatabout · 02/10/2015 19:28

Oh I forgot I've spent £20 on feeding / sleep nursing bras. Just cheap ones from Amazon but the ones I have are too big in the cup or just have none.

SpottyTeacakes · 02/10/2015 19:45

Ipsos sorry you're ill I've never had flu but know it's grim. I had my flu jab last week so I'm hoping I'm safe for another year.

Dh is out for the evening so it's just me and the dc (who've been in bed for an hour!) there's a ladybird flying around the room we were invaded by them today Hmm

TheOnlyPink · 02/10/2015 19:52

spotty well done on getting the kids got bed so early! Do they usually go at that time?

ipsos take it easy, flu just drains the life from you. It takes a while to recoverFlowers

NNot much going on here today, spent €6 in the supermarket. More than I intended, but not bad!

SpottyTeacakes · 02/10/2015 19:54

Yes ds is always in bed by 6:30 and dd does up at 7, she's always extra tired on a Friday.

Lovetoknit · 02/10/2015 20:09

Happy birthday em Flowers Cake
Hope you feel better soon ipsos try to take it easy if you can Flowers
£10 at Aldi for cereals (dc like them and they don't have same ones at Lidl) a couple other bits including Czech beer to make strudel at the weekend
nearly £6 for some fresh pollock, couple chilies and tub of cress for tonight dinner which was yummy, I just wish I could get the dc to eat fresh fish rather then just fish fingers Smile
I cook the rice in the bowl in the steamer. I usually buy the big bag in Lidl and it lasts us a long time.
Frugal win - made 2 cards this week - one for dd teacher who is leaving and birthday one for our niece. Dc are going to make another one tomorrow for Auntie's birthday. Why is it easier to make one for female rather then male?

ipsos · 02/10/2015 20:55

Thanks so much for the excellent advice. I had proper flu two years ago so I have some idea of what I'm in for and you're all very very right. I will try to be sensible. Last time it left me with chest and left arm pain that never went away, which wasn't very helpful.

I feel a bit bad for ds now. He had the same thing as I've got 5 days earlier. I thought it was just a cold and sent him back to school after 4 days off. He came home today white in the face and behaving very strangely, like a small cartoon Tyrannosaurus Rex and making no sense at all. I'm wondering now whether I should have kept him off longer. So complicated to judge these things, always.

On the plus side it was a NSD and I dried the washing outside so that was good.

AuditAngel · 02/10/2015 21:50

I had to give up on Sainsbury's (their website kept crashing)used Tesco, but was rushing, cost more, but the cupboards need filling.

574ejones · 02/10/2015 22:14

Happy birthday em and sorry you're feeling poorly ipsos.

£1 on book reservation from library rather than over £4 for Kindle edition. Annoyed that had to get 2 prescriptions but my prepayment card had run out before I got my new one, so had to pay £16, though I have the receipt to reclaim.

Thanks for the finger crossing! :o

Oh FFS, yet another thing to spend money on. DH was just opening the door and the handle came off. He's unscrewed it to take it to get a replacement. Just desperately hoping the internal bit i.e. the proper lock doesn't need changing. Poor DD was frantic that we'd get locked in, took ages to get her to sleep. ARGH

kazzaF21 · 03/10/2015 00:24

RafalsTheKingOfClay I've done the same thing-increased hours due to tax credits cuts. Not sure if we lose all or have a dramatic cut, although I'm sure I read something about December? About finding out what's what.

LSD today. £7.40 in Pets at Home on cat litter and 90p pack of Dreamies-had money off voucher for Dreamies. £4.15 in Lidl on sweets and bread.

Frugal win! Asked Scottish Power for £75 refund on credit and into bank account. Left £126 in credit though for winter.

Arranging bootfair with a friend in a couple of weeks x

babsmam · 03/10/2015 07:08

£95 in sainsbury yesterday
£14.99 in argos
£8 in Clarks as I exchange some boots and they honored the 20% off the new ones even though it is finished. Shy bairns and all that.

Seen some perfume I want for christmas but it will have to wait as birthdays first and probably going to have to raid the savings
Nsd planned today

HairsprayQueen · 03/10/2015 07:23

Think I might have to give in and put the heating on today, it's quite chilly this morning. Still, I'm pleased to get to October!

Lidls today, Taste of France is on too, my favourite Lidls time!

SpottyTeacakes · 03/10/2015 07:29

Our heating is still off which I'm pleased about.

Need to pick up my prescription this morning.

wheelycote · 03/10/2015 08:07

Morning all

Monthly shop day today...also, home bargains and bits I can't get from tesco

wheelycote · 03/10/2015 08:08

Not also ...Aldi ...predictive text, god love it :)

Ememem84 · 03/10/2015 08:11

£25 today on riding lesson. And dh wants to go into town this afternoon. He's after new boots.

I hate Saturday afternoon shopping. But hey ho.

spotty our heating is staying off until at least December. We shouldn't need it. We only find we need it actually in January and even then only for s few hours a day. Dh disagrees and would have it on all the time if it were up to him.

babsmam · 03/10/2015 08:15

Heating still off here, except for one afternoon when in laws put heating on as they were cold (just a summer blouse on) and left my windows open.!!!

Passthecake30 · 03/10/2015 08:18

Hi ladies just been catching up. Payday has been and this month I'm going to get a better handle on the spends from the money I leave in my own account, this is approx. £500, I know I don't fritter it away, but it just vanishes (on petrol etc??). So this month I'm back to a list to see where it goes....has anyone got a simple app that consists of a list that totals at the end?

Heating is still off here, but as soon as it gets cold we'll give in, dp works outside and likes to be warm when inside (and sit here without a jumper...grrrrr!)

Making the most of the fab weather and have washed everything in sight. Will do all towels and bedding this weekend as I think the rain is due Monday Sad

Will also need to do some baking as my "ds" is having one of those "starving" few days....I keep finding him inside the cupboards, clutching his belly, groaning (what a drama queen, where does he get that from Grin )

ipsos · 03/10/2015 08:51

Fuzz That made me laugh about your dh and the handle coming off the door. I thought you were going to say there was someone selling something outside. Came over as proper slapstick. Smile Hope it didn't cost too much.

I've got a washing out already this morning, hoping for another sunny day. Smile

ds is really into Max and Ruby on YouTube at the moment, so that's nice and cheap too. Hoping for a nice duvet day.

kazzaF21 · 03/10/2015 08:56

babsmam Do you have a Boots Advantage card? Could put points towards the new perfume? I do surveys online which pay out in vouchers and Paypal cash. takes a while, but defo worth it. x
