what I tried a mooncup and didn't get on with it though that's because of post-baby issues. Have used boots own tampons and aldi own towels and found them fine as long as you don't get the basics ones.
electrolux sorry about your glasses. I used glasses direct, I don't have prisms but do have an astigmatism and have thinned lenses. Hope you can get something to sell towards the cost.

Ememem84 · 05/10/2015 22:21

what I've been using boots own brand. They're good. And only £1 something. No different in my mind to always or body form.

Dh had to get some for me the other day. He bought lillets. Yellow ones. Do not like these at all. Very plasticy.

HairsprayQueen · 05/10/2015 22:28

What- I have never been able to get on with tampons but find the mooncup great (like actually changed my life great) however it's an expensive risk as you can't exactly sell it on if it doesn't work for you! And if I'm being honest personally it only works so well for me as I have the choice to be near home at that time of the month, I suspect I might not be as keen if I had to empty while I was out and about in public loos.

Lovetoknit · 05/10/2015 22:29

electrolux sorry about your glasses, hope tomorrow is better for you Flowers
After having my dd my periods were really heavy so GP suggested Mirena coil so now I have no period, just spotting for couple days.
Cold, damp and rather dark here today so had to use lights nearly all day Sad

SpottyTeacakes · 06/10/2015 05:43

I got pregnant with ds with a Mirena coil in Grin

Should be nsd off to work in a minute.

Fluffy it was dried on I filled the powder right to the top! And did it on an intensive wash. Got the saucepans clean though.

Whatabout · 06/10/2015 07:16

Spotty I got pregnant on the copper coil and things didn't end well. I'm thinking of injections or implant for long term contraception but not sure if either will help get rid of periods. I'll investigate though!

Fluffycloudland77 · 06/10/2015 07:55

You don't need to put the powder in the dispenser, just chuck it in and it gets to work straightaway.

At least the pans were in the machine too.

NK5BM3 · 06/10/2015 09:01

Someone I know got the implant as contraception and that gave her a really clean shiny bald spot at the back of her head! Vv noticeable and hair grew back only after she removed it. Shock

Spent £10 yesterday - £3 on parking and £7 on a burger. Quite yummy and caught up with friends after a church meeting.

Today should be an NSD.

NK5BM3 · 06/10/2015 09:02

Oh, anyone been to Peppa pig world?? Any advice as to where to stay? I'm looking online through the Peppa pig world website and the prices don't look too bad but any advice of anything around that area welcomed!

Whatabout · 06/10/2015 09:17

NK even better I'll save on shampoo!

NK5BM3 · 06/10/2015 09:21

what Grin

Girlfriend36 · 06/10/2015 10:13

What I had the injection once - never again, bled solidly for 3 months Shock was told afterwards that this is quite common but normally settles down after 3 months Hmm worked as a form of contraception though as did not want a man coming anywhere near me. Grin At least with the implant you can get it taken out if it plays you up. I have no clue what I would do for contraception if a miracle happens and I find a boyfriend, all hormonal contraception seem to cause me problems one way or another!

Going into town later today, meeting a friend for lunch and got a few jobs to do. Realised I need to apply for a new passport Sad thats expensive right?

fuzzpig · 06/10/2015 10:42

I've never tried any hormonal contraception. The idea of messing about with my hormones freaks me out [wimp emoticon]. We just use condoms which aren't so expensive since we discovered you can bulk buy on Amazon. :o

Re: tampons/STs that's one thing I just realised that I always get branded (bodyform and tampax) maybe I should drop a brand in the spirit of 'eat well for less'. I really do prefer the tampax compak applicators though, do any own brands have those?

fuzzpig · 06/10/2015 10:44

And I just succumbed to an Amazon Lightning Deal - one of those veg slicer things. Hoping it will be worth the tenner as I can't manage chopping much myself (a lot of the pain I get is in my arms/hands) so if it means I don't have to struggle with it, it'll be money well spent. Added the water bottle I need and one of DD's Xmas presents to get free delivery.

Amazon are definitely making more money out of me since they added a minimum spend!

Pointlessfan · 06/10/2015 10:48

I've just started using supermarket tampons, they seem fine so far. I think Boots night do an own brand compak version.
Just spent £4 on DD's haircut and got home to find Twirlywoos didn't record - disaster! Have fobbed her off with an old episode but she knows!!

Whatabout · 06/10/2015 10:58

Isn't it funny how we are all quite aware of our spending and I bet few of us are brand loyal for many things but sanitary ware seems to be one of those things we don't pay much attention.

CremeEggThief · 06/10/2015 11:23

I like Sainsburys own brand. 14 normal with wings for 70p. I hate spending more than £1 on STs.

lilacclery · 06/10/2015 12:51

Just caught up here.

I had implant in all of 2014, I got no period whatsoever on it, but I couldn't lose any weight either so I took it out in Jan. Then had nuvaring which I got no period with either so now I'm hormone free and have had two mini periods. I was using up pads I already had in and bought some in aldi/lidl in anticipation of my first proper period in almost two years next week!

I've just spent €300 on aliexpress. This bought 4 pjs(christmas and normal each for 2 dc's) Christmas Outfits for both of them, an elsa dress for dd, slippers for all 4 of us, a credit card holder for me and dh, 12 outfits each for the children, 7 little gifts from dd & ds to family members, a dress for dgd, and a ring & chain for me too. That's the children's allowance gone!

lilacclery · 06/10/2015 12:54

Then bought a baby present on littlewoods and made up order to €40 to get 10% off, ds and dd needed vests anyhow.

I shouldn't be left on my own in the office at all!

All of this was planned expenses and nothing on credit card but it still feels like I'm doing something wrong Smile

ipsos · 06/10/2015 12:57

You wouldn't believe what we're up to here.

I found out that I can get loft insulation that goes on top of boards and can be walked on, so I'm cleaning out my attic.

I just took 23 pampers boxes full of old baby and toddler clothes to oxfam and I have freecycled and ebayed loads of other things. Our attic looks much better now it is not full.

It's kind of a relief getting rid of all the baby items that hold difficult memories of ds feeling so miserable before I discovered wheat didn't agree with him too. Nice to get a clean slate.

I was keeping all that stuff in case I could manage a dc2, but the odds are not looking good so I've decided just to get on with it and clear the place out. May as well get on and enjoy ds1 and not worry about societal pressure to have dc2.

Also - loft insulation!

TheOnlyPink · 06/10/2015 12:58

I have a mirena and hardly get a spot. Dh had s vasectomy, but I have the mirena for period problems. It's just so wonderful, only get the odd spotting every few months. Use boots own brand panty liners (99c for 30!). I think the boots brand are fab, even when I had my very heavy periods, I used their night towels (2 at a time on heaviest days) and they were up to the job just as much as always brand.

Spendy morning. Post is back, so €5.60 to return my bras. Find out after I'd posted them, in an email from Evans, that I could have brought them back to the store. I had searched the website and the sheets that came with the order, and everywhere said only UK customers could return in store, even sent an enquiry yesterday because of the post situation.. Sent them a complaint this morning, because tbh, the whole experience of buying with them was terrible. I rarely complain, but it was exceptionally bad.

Had to buy sterling for dh work trip to the UK at the end of the month. €56 for £40. We will get it back eventually and having cash makes things much smoother, so needed. €15 for ds beavers.

AdoraBell · 06/10/2015 13:46

I hadn't thought of own brand sanpro, Doh! DDs Get through vast amounts so I'll try the cheaper versión.

NSD Today, yesterday I made a start on Christmas sticking fillers, around £10 so far between two.

Lovetoknit · 06/10/2015 14:07

The weekly shop came in from Sainsbury's this morning £50 with the voucher and only one substitution which I sent back; I like coffee ice cream and they sent me chocolate - better for my waist line Grin
Another wet and windy day and it doesn't look much better for the rest of the week so I guess we shall have Chinese laundry in the bathroom again; dss (who is in the Navy) thinks I am mad because I don't use the tumble dryer so I asked him if he wanted to pay the electric bill when it comes again Wink
ipsos only you know what is best for you and your family, but I personally don't understand society pressure about how many children you have or not.
Anyway if you ever need any more baby clothes etc for the new addition with your new frugal ways you'll be able to find the best deal Smile

CremeEggThief · 06/10/2015 14:13

Ipsos, I love having a clear loft. I am a big de-cluttered and just love having empty spaces. From a fellow happy mother of one (now 13)Smile.
