Happy Birthday Em, it sounds as if it going well. Smile

annatha · 02/10/2015 15:56

I hadn't thought of that audit thanks! I've just remembered that my veg steamer has a rice cooking bowl, I must have a go with that next time.

NSD. Made a root veg curry earlier and decided to double the recipe as I had lots of veg to use up. Stupid idea, my two massive pans were overflowing so I had to transfer some to two slow cookers while the sauce reduced. I've ended up with 12 portions of the stuff so I hope its nice!

Thanks whoever posted the tip about Eco mode on the dishwasher, I completely forgot it had one despite using Eco mode on the washing machine for almost everything. Need to dig out/google the manual and find out how long the Eco cycle is.

Having a massive fall out with my dryer today. Each time we use it it takes a different amount of time to finish a cycle and likes to randomly pause halfway through and not restart. At first I thought it needed the water or lint emptying but today I did both of those before starting it, stuck it on a standard cotton dry and half an hour later it beeped saying finished yet the clothes were still wet. Put it on the same cycle an hour ago and its still going Hmm

annatha · 02/10/2015 15:59

Happy birthday Em!

Happy birthday em

blueteapot · 02/10/2015 16:13

Well done on that need! We use an independent mechanic for everything now, much cheaper!

Been getting on with xmas - some lovely scarves / jewellery sets in M&S sale for DSis and SIL yesterday, £34. Spent £51 in boots but had £5 off perfume voucher (DH desperately needed replacement aftershave) and then got £10 back in points too. Bought DM a lovely necklace she liked reduced down to £7 as shes been such a help with the kids. Frozen plate / bowl / cup sets were reduced from £8.99 to £2 in the clearance bit so got a few for the nieces for xmas.

I had £23 worth of boots points so ordered some 3 for 2 toys for DS and DD from santa for free, thats a start made anyway. Getting there!

DM has said that rather than buy any gifts for our house this year she would get us an ikea voucher towards the kids rooms, so I am pleased with that. Need to think what to get them back now!

NSD today. DH working and I am at home with the kids. We have zero meat in the house but I have decided we are having a vege weekend so today we are having pasta bake, tomorrow HM pizza and Sunday vege chilli / HM vege burgers I think. Trying to use up what we have in to save money / really not bothered dragging the kids to the shops - lol feeling very lazy today.

Sunny but cold in NI today, I cant stop shivering!

blueteapot · 02/10/2015 16:13

Happy birthday Em :)

Happy birthday em! Cake

Well more money gone on taxi fares today, I hate being too ill to walk (in this case couldn't even walk to the bus stop to get home that way)

DH's interview went ok today (can't remember if I said that already) and he got a phonecall about another job (for a TOY SHOP! Imagine the staff discount...) but can't get time off for the group interview at short notice. Really hoping they still consider getting him in some other way, as the wages are a massive step up.

SpottyTeacakes · 02/10/2015 16:22

It's t shirt weather here really warm. Got a fairly busy weekend but should be non spendy.

Tomorrow dd's school PTA are holding a 5k run which my dad is going then ds has a party to go to, have a present and card I can use. Then Sunday going to my aunts for lunch to celebrate my step mums fiftieth.

Wolfcub · 02/10/2015 16:58

Happy birthday Em.
Working at home today so I did have the heating on for.a few hours when I started shivering despite the thick knee high socks and hot water bottle.but the house is roasting now so it's off and we will probably be warm for the rest.of.the evening.

CremeEggThief · 02/10/2015 17:11

Happy birthday, Em. Cake

Fingers crossed for your DH, Fuzz.

Glad you are starting to feel better, Ipsos.

I've been out for lunch and a walk in a town I love today. I honestly can't remember a better start to October; we have had a fantastic few days up here. On my way home now. £9.70 travel, £1.80 snacks and £11.40 lunch, with coffee and cake afterwards.

Happy frugal weekend, everyone Smile.

ipsos · 02/10/2015 17:27

Thanks creme. It's nice weather here too and I managed to get two loads of washing dried outside.

Our garden is a shambles suddenly. There are sheets of bindweed coming through from the neighbours. I feel several hours of weeding coming my way.

AdoraBell · 02/10/2015 17:36

Happy birthday Em Cake

£2.90 in Lidl
£3.75 on coffee plus jam doughnuts to being home for DDs.

DH has gone back and I'm trying to get back on track with spending.

CremeEggThief · 02/10/2015 17:41

Don't overdo it, Ipsos. I would leave it until you are completely better.

Back to Chile, Adora?

ipsos · 02/10/2015 17:44

I think you're probably right Creme. Having proper flu is pretty weird. I fell asleep for two hours this afternoon and woke up feeling welded to the couch.

fuzzpig · 02/10/2015 17:53

Flu is horrendous, ipsos - I agree you really need to stick to the bare minimum while you recover. It can take a very long time to leave your system. Brew

NK5BM3 · 02/10/2015 18:08

Frugal win! Went to pick kids up from school and played out in the park for a while. Popped into the corner shop for some treats (£7.80 in total included a card, 2 chocs and a £5 scratch card) and won £10!!! Smile

Didn't get all my work done. Stressed.

Happy birthday em!

Orangeisthenewbanana · 02/10/2015 18:19

Happy birthday em! Cake. ipsos, agree with the other ladies, give yourself a couple more days to recover.

Rough day today. DD had a bad night so only got about 4 hours sleep. Have felt ridiculously crappy all day (suppose being quite pregnant doesn't help!) and she has been pushing my buttons like mad, being incredibly irritating and naughty. Countdown to bedtime has started!

£9 in Sainsburys today on bread, milk and fruit/veg for the weekend. But my £10 gifted from online surveys arrived this afternoon so broke even Grin My bank account balance has plummeted as all my direct debits seem to come out on the 1st of the month! But at least there's only about £60 still to come out this month on regular payments.

Managed to get a massive sticker pack on holiday last week for DD for £5 which I've put away for Christmas, and a long handled dustpan for my mum that she wanted for £7. My Dad is pretty much sorted as I'm taking him to the rugby next weekend for his present. Just need to think about IL's - sadly my niece, SIL, BIL and DM all have birthdays between now and Christmas too Confused. No good for frugaleering!

Girlfriend36 · 02/10/2015 18:22

Happy Birthday Em Flowers Cake Wine

Hope you are on the mend Ipsos

Another work day, this working four days a week lark is knackering! A NSD of sorts although have written a cheque for £35 for the work Christmas do and another one for the after school club £39.

Nearly bought fish n chips for tea but decided to put a pizza in the oven instead Grin

Whatabout · 02/10/2015 18:23

Happy birthday, get well soon, well done on the Christmas shopping and waves for everyone else! Not very good at keeping up with you all but I do read and think of you all.

Today I went to the farm with ds2 whilst ds1 was at nursery with my friend and her daughter. £5 to get in and friend bought me lunch. Took baby Gabriel to be registered and purchased three birth certificates £12. Friend invited me to go to Halloween circus at the garden centre, £13.98.

Bolognaise slow cooking on the hob, prepped in about five minutes as I use frozen finely chopped veg (carrot / onion / celery). I also use micro rice but one portion does two of us as I'm not a rice fan. It means I am more likely to cook as i use cooking rice as an excuse. I don't have space for any more appliances otherwise I'd get the rice cooker linked to. I'm sure it would pay for itself in six months.

Fluffycloudland77 · 02/10/2015 18:34

Happy Birthday Em Cake Flowers Wine Parent win indeed.

Ipsos I'm sure your dh was as interested as mine is Wink. My last dw used less in quick than Eco. But it was a shit wash cycle.

Oddly my washing machine used less in quick Confused when I put an external energy monitor on it.

Fingers crossed for the interview Fuzz

49p on bread.

AuditAngel · 02/10/2015 18:40

Need DD1 would do both......

Realised that the food recycling bags ordered 11/9 haven't arrived. Called Amazon they will refund and I have reordered. So free really.

£27 on party pack for DD2's party with cups/plates/tablecloth/ balloons etc.

Need to do my Sainsbury order, but their website seems to be broken

AdoraBell · 02/10/2015 18:45

Yes Creme back to Chile.

ipsos real flu is indeed a nightmare, don't try to do too much too soon.

Fingers crossed Fuzz

Ursulatodd · 02/10/2015 18:58

Happy birthday em :)

fluffy you've saved me a frugal task...after discussions up thread about Eco cycle I thought I'd put my washing machine to the test. I usually use quick cycle but suddenly had a panic that this might be false economy. I don't have an electric monitor so was trying to work out how to test it using the electric meter reading. Think il stick to quick now!

£40 petrol. £7.40 lunch in a sunny pub garden! DH is out so supernoodles for dinner.

Oh and also big fat frugal fail £2.75 on a birthday card as forgot to take one from my stock of card factory ones Angry!
