Thanks guys :) hairspray Ive bought wine in the morning in lidl before lol but this is NI so laws might be different where you are x

lilacclery · 25/09/2015 08:34

In Ireland you can't hairspray but you would be tempted sometimes!

I've a well stocked wine rack from our trip to France when I was pregnant with ds, then when I was bf it didn't agree with him, now I don't want to drink it because it gives me the munchies and I want to lose the extra weight, it'll be vintage before I get around to it Grin

blue great news with the full nights sleep, bet you feel like a new womanSmile
spotty that's fantastic with the extra money

My self employed money is up this week, haven't totted it yet but it's all going into a fund for my tax return at end of October anyhow Sad

Have to get on iplayer to see this EWFL, not seen any episode yet.

LittleMissLady · 25/09/2015 10:14

Where do you get the lidl voucher? We are in uk and I went yesterday and between myself and mum we spent over £40 but we couldn't find any vouchers in the magazine?

lilacclery · 25/09/2015 10:28

I read here that it's in the Lidl News that you pick up instore

HairsprayQueen · 25/09/2015 10:35

It's the October issue, has whiskey, sewing machine and salmon on the front amongst other things. But the voucher is only valid from tomorrow until 4/10. Ours was on the leaflet stand by the exit.

TheOnlyPink · 25/09/2015 11:09

Morning frugaleers! Lovely sunny, cold day here, it's put me in a great mood!
Spent €7 on Hugh fernley whittingstall veg book on my kindle. Been wanting it for ages. Need to cut down on meat, ds 2 is getting older now and is having bigger portions, and ds 1 seems to have hollow legs since he turned 8. Would rather fill them on veg, especially as ds 2 is coeliac and gf pasta and gf non cross contaminated rice etc is very expensive. Was sick of making the same things, but that book has piles of ideas. They're all cheap to make too! I'm thrilled with it!

Collieputthekettleon · 25/09/2015 11:16

Just updating my September goals so they are fresh in my head. Took me ages to find in the first September thread.

1- make £70 on eBay made £77 so far. 3 auctions left
2- get Scottish Power sorted ( they said they'll get back to me within 10 days) chased up
3- end the month in credit its getting close but Quidco may help us out
4- buy a few Christmas presents done!
5- buy 1 item of food each week for the Christmas store cupboard done!
6- reduce car insurance by £10 a month renewal is mid October. My mistake
7- learn 4 new slow cooker recipes learnt 1 so far

Whatabout · 25/09/2015 12:06

Frugal fail of epic proportions, £65 PCN for forgetting to pay the congestion charge. We had to drive to Barts hospital for my husband to see a cardiac professor and on the way home my sister called with the news my mum had smashed her femur. I forgot everything in my head and had a sob about that instead. I'm now wondering what I can sell to compensate for it, we can afford it but I want to mitigate it as much as possible.

lilacclery · 25/09/2015 12:15

Ah hairspray was September issue that I picked up, we might be in luck yet. Although I do find Lidl more expensive than Aldi
fluffy they were sold out of my GU10 led bulbs SadSadSad

whatabout it's done, nothing you can do about it. Hope your mum & husband are doing ok. How's baby boy?

collie here's a simple slow cooker recipe - lay chicken fillets on sliced onions & peppers, sprinkle with cajun seasoning, pour over a tin of condensed soup - leave to cook for 4 hours - yummy, does that bring you halfway to sc recipe goal?

Whatabout · 25/09/2015 12:30

Lilac - my husband luckily seems to be fine, he got the diagnosis of hypertrophic cardiomyopathy but the most benign form. However, it's hereditary and both boys have a 50% chance of having it and it not being benign. We've been advised to not get any form of testing for them until they are tweens.

My mum hopefully is getting out of hospital soon, she's had a femur nailing so quite a big injury. They are wondering if she has osteoporosis as she is in her fifties and it's not an injury you would normally see in her age group.

Baby G is doing well, slowly gaining back is massive weight loss, mixed feeding is tiring but necessary. We've been given some lovely new clothes for him so our spends on him remain very minimal poor boy!

Collieputthekettleon · 25/09/2015 12:49

Yes that sounds scrumptious! Thank you lilac!

what keep on keeping on Brew hope your mum gets better soon.

I just ordered an 8 x 8 inch canvas print from Snapfish. It's originally £17.99 plus £4 delivery but I found the code on HotUKdeals and just had to pay £4 delivery. Chose a photo of DS for the wall as we have none! Blush I know its small and I believe I have made enough on eBay (beyond my goal) to pay for it.

TheOnlyPink · 25/09/2015 13:20

What kinds of things do you all list on eBay? I badly need a clear out, but not sure if anyone would want my stuff!

collie well done! You've had a great frugaling month!

CremeEggThief · 25/09/2015 14:21

I haven't sold much on eBay this year, but I made £1300 since 2012, mainly on DS's old toys. Lego; board games; a keyboard; collectables, such as a Darth Vader helmet and a dalek egg cup; a slow cooker; electricals, such as my old Miele and my iPod shuffle for parts; the odd Fatface item of clothing and a few pairs of Converse, Super dry trainers and knee high boots, are examples of what I've sold.

fuzzpig · 25/09/2015 14:22

I've given up with Ebay, I'm a wimp and got scared by all the awful stories about evil, dishonest buyers! I've got a few things I'd like to sell, but I'm planning on sticking them on the FB selling group (I've not actually sold any items on there before, I've only advertised my music tuition)

fuzzpig · 25/09/2015 14:22

(sorry that was ridiculously negative - just wanted to point out I am far more paranoid than most, and loads of people still ebay successfully, I'm just pessimistic!)

Collieputthekettleon · 25/09/2015 14:54

I have the same fears! Trust me. When something goes beyond a quid I always think "it's crap! Have I advertised it correctly? They'll be so disappointed with it"

Or I think "well, I wouldn't pay that much for it!!" Grin

Old skanky furniture and used baby stuff mainly.

Whatabout · 25/09/2015 14:58

TOP I'm working my way through shoes and handbags but I'm going to start listing them on Facebook first. I'm trying to work out whether it is worth trying to sell my old kindles as I now use my phone instead.

Used our £10 of Heinz vouchers in morrisons, we only had to buy one Heinz item so bought some sauce we needed anyway and the other £9 paid for a good chunk of our Christmas chocolate tubs! Spent £17 after vouchers, more nappies, ibruprofen and chocolate mostly!

We then went to McDonald's for a naughty Friday lunch, we had a voucher for a free meal so it was only £6.

SpottyTeacakes · 25/09/2015 15:10

£3.20 tesco on lunch and some English muffins

£1 put into the Macmillan box at work when I had some cake.

I'm going to go to lidl tomorrow.

Oh £109 on Christmas presents on Amazon. Yuck.

annatha · 25/09/2015 15:12

I sell mainly baby stuff, it doesn't make very much but it clears space and most of it was bought secondhand on eBay anyway and recently a couple of handbags.

CremeEggThief · 25/09/2015 15:49

£11 on lunch out with a friend, including a tip.
£2.83 on some birthday banners and wrapping paper for DS from Card Factory. He's going to Pizza Express for dinner with his two best friends and then back here for a sleepover tomorrow. I am being frugal and having an Aldi pizza at home after I collect them.
£15.86 on my debit card in Marks and Spencer; on a birthday cake, candles, nibbles for DS's sleepover and veg for Sunday lunch.

Have a good weekend Smile.

574ejones · 25/09/2015 16:30

£10 Macmillan donation, £100 college trip deposit which I am pretty annoyed about as the trip is happening in November, and we have only a month to pay the balance!

I really must look at ebaying some stuff soon.

fuzzpig · 25/09/2015 16:54

I got some Lego sets on Amazon for Christmas, the ones that were vastly reduced, so thanks again for the heads up (think it was Pink who mentioned it?). Managed to resist buying every single set that was on offer...

Just got £10 on my giffgaff payback as I helped mum activate her SIM. Even though she's not using it yet, she just put credit on it which can stay on there until her current contract runs out. But thanks to the double payback offer I will get £10 in my paypal in time for Christmas :o

ipsos · 25/09/2015 17:05

I went to Tesco in person this morning which was pretty exciting. ds has the lung lurgy just now and was making a funny noise like a sealion so dh stayed home with him while I went for provisions. Nice to be out for a bit. £90 less in the bank.

Lovetoknit · 25/09/2015 17:33

This thread is moving too fast, I am struggling to catch up Smile
Had to go to garage in Perranporth this morning to have break pads changed but luckily the bill was only £72 so dh wants to use them again
On the plus side I spend the whole morning sitting on the beach front reading my Kindle and walking around the shops.
At Prospect Hospice shop £2 for big piece of white fabric which I want to use to make a tablecloth like we used to have at home with some embroidery and lace edging. I had a look previously on ebay for one and most of them cost around £50 with the design and edge already done.
They also had brand new set of 3 books for £5 (usually £15) for my dd birthday in December Smile
Oh and £2 at Coop for bottle of water and some chocolate. I was rather tempted by the smell of pasties and fish and chips but luckily the garage called before I gave in Grin
Fish and chips from the freezer for dinner tonight since dc love their fish Friday Smile
collie I made my cheat version of beef bourgignon in slow cooker yesterday with some chopped onion, celery, carrot, mushrooms, couple slices of smoked bacon and 350g of beef browned together (I can put my inner pot on the hob too) and just added less then 2 glasses of cheap red wine from aldi, beef stockpot, Worcestershire sauce, dried mix herbs and couple bay leaves. I cooked it on low all day and it was enough for 3 adults(dss is 21 so eats as much as dh) and 1 dd with some potato wedges, broccoli and green beans. I have made it before without the wine and put in more stock and some tomato puree. Luckily ds and younger dd had leftover pasta bolognaise since they don't like it.

Fluffycloudland77 · 25/09/2015 18:13

Lila I think they are pricier too, and they clearly don't order enough led light bulbs in either. They will have them in again, as will aldi.

£41 in lidl. Took my voucher and noticed right at the last minute I cant use it until tomorrow. Fab.
£1.50 in aldi
£25 in sainsburys on champagne for christmas, knickers in the wrong size and milk.
£1 in poundworld on a multipack of choc for dh.
£40 on cat booster jabs and a dose of advocate for his cattery stay.

There's bonus nectar points offers on the website if you login, one is 200 points on petrol and using a sainsburys local store.
