need you poor love. Thinking of you and those involved.

Jemima I've been thinking about doing this too.

They had a report on the news last night about best cleaning products and the cheapies won over the names brands.

I have to pop to shops today as DSs is coming for the weekend. Just need bread and red curry paste and coconut milk.

We have been invited out for do tonight. First night out without 5 month dd2.

I can't wait for pay day.

diggerdigsdogs · 11/09/2015 00:34

Sorry - I can't wait for payday to update ynab and get back on track!

Badders123 · 11/09/2015 01:45

Need....so sorry x

ipsos · 11/09/2015 06:23

Well done need, you sound quite heroic.

Badders don't worry about ebay, I've had problems with people and as soon as I escalate it the organisers just sort of swoop in and deal with the problems. I've never had any trouble that they couldn't solve.

Thanks for the word on the hayfever Pointless. Several friends have said the same.

Digger I've been trying to switch to vinegar and soap instead of bleach products as it's meant to be good for allergies and I'm getting on quite well. I've started washing the kitchen sink with really hot water and fairy liquid, and then a fine mist of vinegar, left on for a couple of hours while I go out. I works a treat, and the same on the wash basin in the bathroom. Cheap too, for good measure.

babsmam · 11/09/2015 06:28

Need to do a lidl /aldi Iceland shop this weekend, then get the rest from sainsbury.

Well done need. Sometimes practical just kicks in and takes over. X

Ditto about eBay. It can be frustrating as a seller that the buyer is favoured. But as a buyer that's a godsend.

Dh out today so £30. Will most likely need some saving transferred to cover dance fees. And they are still not all paid. Eeek.

SpottyTeacakes · 11/09/2015 06:48

Thank you.

Definitely having a wobble today Sad

Badders123 · 11/09/2015 10:09

Need...don't underestimate the effect this will have on you. My dad collapsed and died in front of me. I did cpr but to no avail. It's over 2 years now and I still have flashbacks and bad days.
Ease do speak to someone if you need to.
Big hugs for you x

babsmam · 11/09/2015 10:33

Flowers Cake Brew need

ipsos · 11/09/2015 10:48

So sorry to hear that need. I had major wobbles for a long time after ds had surgery at 14 months. I found out that the thing was to read up about what's called post-traumatic stress disorder on the internet. It explains about it. It's also mega-useful to go an tell a councillor person all about what you experienced and how you felt. It seems as if the stress can get stuck in the brain until you have a chance to talk honestly about it to someone. Take care there, and I hope you have a chance to rest. FlowersFlowersFlowers

TheOnlyPink · 11/09/2015 11:00

need that sounds horrific. Flowers you poor thing. Hope you have some support around you.

ElizaPickford · 11/09/2015 11:25

Hello - just rummaging around for threads on how to save money after having totally skinted myself over the summer and I've come across you lovely lot, hope you don't mind if I jump in and pick your brains? I need to work out a budget and meal plan and stick to it for the next few months to get myself on an even keel...

Collieputthekettleon · 11/09/2015 12:09

Hey Eliza. Hopefully we can help you out.

Sainsbury's just gave me an £8 evoucher for the short dated groceries and a £2 goodwill gesture. Hmm but its an evoucher. Meaning I have to do another sodding grocery shop with them just so I can redeem it. I tried the TU store and they don't take evoucher. Pah!

Lovetoknit · 11/09/2015 12:17

For need Flowers

LSD today - only had to pay £3.35 for dd school trip
Frugal win this week - don't need to buy younger dd new ballet shoes, luckily the old ones from older dd fit, just need to shorten the elastic Grin
Also ds can borrow a trombone from school until we can see if he can stick the lessons and practise Smile
Today is dh last day at work. He starts a new job on Monday which is for less money, but will mean lot less stress and travelling and lot more time with us because he will have weekends off.
Fish and chips from freezer for tea tonight

Collieputthekettleon · 11/09/2015 12:34

lovetoknit I am excited for you about your DHs new job. The whole family will benefit and you'll soon adjust to the new finances. It took about a year for me to adjust when I took an £11k paycut for a less stressful job (many years ago!)

I just bought a jumper for DS for 99p. Couldn't resist. And whoever recommended vertbaudet to me - massive thank you Smile

Need you can wibble and wobble as much as you like here Flowers

babsmam · 11/09/2015 12:39

Hi Eliza, ask away we are a font of frugal knowledge

Nc19999992 · 11/09/2015 13:08

Just a quick one, will comment properly later!

My tax credits were stopped in April, but I haven't had a letter through... I need to call them don't I? Sad

ipsos · 11/09/2015 13:26

I had another little frugal win.

I wrote to ask what the state of my National Insurance contributions is, and it turns out that they have been paid by the government for the last five years because I'm at home caring for ds. I'm so glad that that's happened, and I don't need to do a ton for form-filling and phoning and justifying. So nice to have been given a teeny tiny bit of appreciation by the state pension system for the work I've done. Smile

lilacclery · 11/09/2015 13:47

Ds op went well & we're half way through our 4 hour journey home stopping for celebratory lunch!

ipsos · 11/09/2015 14:11

That's fantastic. :-) Well done Lilac.

TheOnlyPink · 11/09/2015 14:12

lilac brilliant news, thrilled for you! Safe trip home!

Got our Vodafone broadband bill, first month on a new package. They assured us when we switched, our total bill would be ??38 a month for unlimited broadband. Dh double checked, because it was les than we were paying for capped broadband but they assured us that this month's bill would be??38. It was ??64. they searched for the conversation dh had with them when they switched (he did it on webchat!) and seems he was promised something he shouldn't have been, but they are going to honour it. I didn't want to argue that contracts tie both parties to an agreement, but they are refunding the difference and our package is ??38 going forward so I'm happy!
Thanks to you all for giving me the confidence to stand up to them. I would have just taken their word that we got it wrong and it was our mistake, paid the extra and suffered the loss. But I pressed it and got it sorted! Grin

ipsos · 11/09/2015 14:33

Well done Pink. That's really very well done there. Saving the chat transcript was a very good plan. I've never done that before.

TheOnlyPink · 11/09/2015 15:40

ipsos thank you! They were the ones who saved the chat transcript, but it's made me think that it's a good idea in future!
