Hope you're ok need?

Dd screamed and cried for me not to leave her for her swimming lesson. I left her anyway and felt awful but she was ok. Didn't buy anything in the caf??.

ipsos · 10/09/2015 17:41

Badders - no he's only 5 and has had more ENT fun than most adults could put up with in their entire life. I'm trying to be patient and just hope it's hayfever.

CremeEggThief · 10/09/2015 18:02

Out and about today.
£7.70 bus travel.
£7.60 lunch and an ice-cream. The lunch was okay, but the ice-cream was delicious.
£1.51 on a slice of apple tart and 2 bottles of water.
£28 on my credit card on some knee high boots. Reduced from £40 and lovely and comfortable.

babsmam · 10/09/2015 18:16

£19 in morrisons.

Got a £15 voucher for sainsburys after I complained about the last 2 packs of chicken breast.

Hope you are OK need.

Wolfcub · 10/09/2015 18:38

The expected huge car bill arrived today. It was indeed huge Confused but was £200 less than I was actually expecting it to be so I guess that's a frugal win of sorts. I am resisting ordering shopping this week at all which might mean some odd meals but will hopper save a bit of money this month which will go off the credit card balance.

574ejones · 10/09/2015 18:44

Took a small fortune out of the ATM for DS1's 18th tomorrow - should pay for a good few driving lessons out of that (hopeful). £9 on birthday cake and £4 coffee pods in Waitrose. Feeling a bit meh after having coil fitted today.

Flowers Need

Badders123 · 10/09/2015 18:51

Ipsos...poor lamb :( my 5 year old had an adenotonsilectomy last year. Not fun.
I have sorted new car insurance. £6 per month better off and a shopping voucher :)
I am also going to get a sim only contract for my phone when the contract is up in December. That's should save me £18 per month.
Can't really cut any other direct debits - it's life insurance, car tax and car breakdown. I could get rid of Netflix at £5 a month...but I won't :)
My e bay nightmare continues. I will never buy from there again. Still waiting to escalate one case.
I have caught ds2s lurgy and feel like I am swallowing razor blades so spent £10 at the chemist on meds. Sigh.

Badders123 · 10/09/2015 18:53

My ds1 (12) used to get awful hay fever. He hasn't really suffered at all this year! Ds2 otoh...eye drops, inhalers, nose spray, tablets....

Collieputthekettleon · 10/09/2015 19:26

Badders sorry you are having issues with eBay. Sad I've only just started using it and I'm petrified of coming across a knobhead.

NSD! I'm literally shocked. I didn't even have to buy that pint of milk.

TwoNoisyBoys · 10/09/2015 19:30

Place marking with interest! ??

Pointlessfan · 10/09/2015 19:54

Hope you are ok Need.
Happy anniversary NK!
I think it has been a bad year for hay fever, I still have symptoms!
Another NSD today, that's two in a row - hooray!

AdoraBell · 10/09/2015 20:08

Happy anniversary NK

I've been spending money, half price sale in a cook shopGrin so, £25 for 3 oven dishes and £24 on a griddle pan. I went foraging and have a large pot of blackberriesGrin

Fluffycloudland77 · 10/09/2015 20:23

Happy Aniversary NK.

NSD.

I dont have a business account now, I'm not a limited company so I just have a normal current account that I keep for business purposes.

annatha · 10/09/2015 20:45

Went to tesco to buy formula and came out £30 lighter... I did get a Christmas present for a tenner and some household bits that we needed but wasted money on snacks because I didn't get time to eat before going. Btw the big round tubs of Celebrations, Roses and Heros are £5 in tesco at the min. I checked a tub of Celebrations and the bb date was march so they'd be good for Christmas if you have enough self control to keep them in the house for that long.

lilacclery · 10/09/2015 21:00

I was going to do that fluffy but this account was on offer at the time, not as much choice in Ireland I'm afraid

CremeEggThief · 10/09/2015 21:39

Fluffy and other seasoned bank switchers, I have just switched bank account for the first time to Halifax and can I just check that they let everyone who transfers money (housing benefit, child benefit and child tax credit and child maintenance from my XH) know, don't they? Should I expect any delays or problems with payments? I have to say I'm impressed they've given me the £100 incentive already, only two days after switching.

needastrongone · 10/09/2015 21:40

Thank you, I am fine. A very sudden and unexpected death far too young, with me having to deal with it, being the only adult there. Well, DD was there too, she seems ok so far. I am watching her though.

Desperate to go foraging, I have found a field with a plethora of blackberries. I will be very bad and make blackberry vodka.

badders Hope the Ebay issues are resolved.

Happy 18th for your son NK Mine is 16 next week, where did our babies go?!

CremeEggThief · 10/09/2015 21:41

Oh need, that sounds horrendous Sad. Flowers

fuzzpig · 10/09/2015 21:51

Shit, need, I'm so sorry :( big hugs. Go easy on yourself Thanks

needastrongone · 10/09/2015 21:56

Thanks, but I am ok. Honestly I am. Bit shaken yesterday but ok today. I was amazed how calm and practical I was actually. If I do say so myself Smile

fuzzpig · 10/09/2015 22:01

It's great that you have been so strong :) I'm sure it has helped your DD too x

peppansalt · 10/09/2015 22:12

Need, sounds like a dreadful shock, hope you are ok

JemimaMuddledUp · 10/09/2015 22:16

Just did my online Tesco shop ready for the weekend. Including 7 days of dinners and breakfasts for 5 and lunches for 4 (DD has school dinners), plus household stuff. Came to £78, which isn't bad.

Meal plan for next week (dinners):
Sat - Cod in tomato and garlic sauce with new potatoes and green beans
Sun - Quorn sausages, mash, cabbage and gravy
Mon - Salmon, new potatoes and broccoli
Tues - Hunter's Quorn fillets with baked potatoes and sweetcorn
Wed - Sweet and Sour Quorn pieces and vegetables with noodles
Thurs - Veggie burgers with wedges and peas
Fri - Quorn fillets with roast potatoes, carrots and gravy.

Lunches for DS1 and DS2:
Mon - Pasta with tomato sauce and quorn sausages, carrot and cucumber sticks, an apple
Tues - Tuna salad wraps, bag of popcorn, banana
Wed - Spanish Tortilla with cherry tomatoes, red peppers and tomato ketchup, an apple
Thurs - Pasta with pesto and quorn chicken fillets, carrot and cucumber sticks, satsumas
Fri - Ham rolls, crisps, apple

DH takes a packed lunch of ham sandwiches, a packet of crisps, a 2 finger kitkat and an apple every single day and nothing will ever change that. I tend to take either egg or tuna sandwiches and a piece of fruit, or a pot of soup in cold weather.

There is also stuff to make a picnic on Sunday as DS1 is playing at a rugby tournament an hour's drive away and we're all going to watch. I'll be taking rolls, crisps, cakes, fruit and drinks with us rather than buying takeaway food.

I've also bought the ingredients for DS1's birthday cake. He wants a chocolate fudge cake, but DS2 is lactose intolerant so I'm having to tinker with the recipe so that everyone can eat it. I hope it works!

£78 sounds a lot, but it isn't really I suppose. If you say that roughly £8 is cleaning materials and household stuff, that leaves £70. £70 works out at £2 per day for each of the 5 of us. The only other food expenditure is DD's school dinners, which cost £11 per week.

I know I'm saving money in the long run with the packed lunches etc, but when they add to your supermarket bill it can look a bit daunting!

JemimaMuddledUp · 10/09/2015 22:18

Flowers for need - hope you are OK, that sounds awful. Puts my trivial worries into perspective.

needastrongone · 10/09/2015 22:23

Well, I feel fine at the minute. Honest Smile If I wobble, I will share, promise.

Think that sounds great for £78 jemima. I once calculated how much I spent per meal for (essentially) 4 adults and it really reassured me, rather than the total spend per week.
