Thought I'd start a shiny new thread as we've filled the other one so quickly.

We're nearly at the 1000 post limit. Might we go back to being the Frugaleers in the next one? I really like the name.

HairsprayQueen · 19/09/2015 17:26

Slightly tipsy purchase last night of the Les Mis soundtrack Blush I'll just be over here belting out On My Own badly!

Been to Brighton today for our treat meal of the month, went to Eds Diner which was nice so that was £40, bought phone charging wires in Tiger for £12 and (and completely not in the spirit of the thread and I'm almost embarrassed to write) £25 on a lipstick. In justification it was out of my free spends and I'll use it til the end rather than cheaper ones that I hate after a few wears.

Was a great atmosphere in the city because of the rugby which the kids loved so a good day today, life wise if not bank account wise!

CremeEggThief · 19/09/2015 17:31

NSD, pottering around the house and gardening. Two loads of washing out on the line, although still had to use the Tumbler for a small load of socks and undies. Going to make spinach and potato soup soon, with veg that needs using up.

SpottyTeacakes · 19/09/2015 17:36

I only do cash on collection for eBay or they could say they've paid and not received the item!

Ememem84 · 19/09/2015 18:12

Today's spends:

£4.50 for two coffees at airport at home.
£2.20 for water at boots Oxford street
£20 on jeans in primark
£47 on bits in h&m

Oops.

Ememem84 · 19/09/2015 18:13

Also sold a pair of jeans on eBay. So it makes me feel a bit better. And it's payday on Monday.

574ejones · 19/09/2015 18:21

£59 weekly food shop. Frugal win: harvested my radish (yes, only one grew, but it was delicious)!!

However, am feeling seriously twitchy and might have to lock my iPad away tonight before I spend.

SpottyTeacakes · 19/09/2015 18:26

I just spent £18 on Amazon on six packs of simple face wipes (usually £2.99 each) and three packs of deodorant (usually £5.50 each).

Collieputthekettleon · 19/09/2015 18:32

DS has an awful cold so we had to get calpol and vapour rub. That's all we spent today.

Want to get a magnetic doodle board thing for DS for the trip to Scotland so keeping my eyes pealed for a cheapie. We have loads listed on eBay and I'm hoping to make a few pounds which will pay for the treats whilst away.

Also..... The car is so economical that we haven't had to top up the fuel in over a week!

Our Boots Card is now at exactly £5 which will be very useful as Christmas approaches.

needastrongone · 19/09/2015 19:07

Grin at 547.

spotty Have you tried the Aldi facial wipes? Also good value and really good quality too.

babsmam · 19/09/2015 19:16

Just a reminder, as autumn officially starts next week and so will illness season, about the minor ailments scheme. Free meds at the pharmacy for dc who don't pay prescription charges. The hospital wanted to charge me for ibuprofen but I got it free from sainsbury pharmacy.

Not all pharmacy do it but worth an ask

AdoraBell · 19/09/2015 19:16

Slightly spendy day, £9.50 on socks and sweets & Chocs for myself and £8 on lunch for DD2 and me plus 50p on a couple of kilos of cooking apples being sold out of someone's garden. I shall forage tomorrow to see if there are any blackberries left.

Hope everyone is well, will catch up later.

SpottyTeacakes · 19/09/2015 19:21

Need we don't have an aldi but I have really sensitive skin and have yet to find anything other than simple that I can use.

We don't have minor ailments in this area either, nowhere in the Sussex and Surrey trust does it. At least I get a discount in boots though. I think our clubcard points are over £13 now.

JemimaMuddledUp · 19/09/2015 19:36

Just managed to feed 5 people for less than £20 on Chinese and Indian Takeaways (DS1's birthday treat). Surely that is a frugal win?

DS1 and I shared a Balti and a Naan bread, plus got the poppadoms and salad/raita that you always get. DD and DS2 shared a Chow Mein, DH had a Chop Suey and a Plain Rice which he split with DS1. They had free prawn crackers. We actually had more food than we could manage. Just shows how easy it is to waste money by not choosing carefully.

For drinks I bought 3 Rubicon for £1 in B&M for the DC and DH and I are sharing a £4 bottle of wine.

babsmam · 19/09/2015 19:42

Ah that's a shame spotty. Kids ailments meds can soon add up.
V frugal jemima. Nice one

annatha · 19/09/2015 20:17

547ejones I know what you mean, I've been putting things in online baskets all evening. Tesco have got their Xmas gifts online and I started out looking for gifts and quickly moved onto things I'd like. I need to find dd a coat and cosy toes for the pram but instead I'm eyeing up post pregnancy clothes Blush

Has anyone used the Perfume Parlour? I saw it on a MSE perfume dupes thread and they do copies of famous perfumes and seeing as my entire perfume collection (not very extensive, but a couple of nice bottles from Xmas/birthdays that I can't afford to buy outright and some midrange everyday scents) disappeared in our house move 6 months ago I'd really like to smell like something other than baby food again. My basket has dupes of Vera Wang Princess, Lady Million and MJ Daisy and comes in at under a tenner including p&p. Might see if I can sell something on eBay to justify it!

HairsprayQueen · 19/09/2015 20:48

I ordered 6 little oils from Perfume Parlour previously and only one smelt right. The others were so horrid they had to be chucked. DH had a good one. And lots of people on here rave about them so maybe I was just unlucky.

NiceandaSlice · 19/09/2015 21:29

needastrongone I take flaxseed on my cereal every day too - I hope it is good for my joints too Grin
blue I am sending you hugs and sleepy dust, my toddler (2 and a half) has been waking a couple of times a night for the past three months after mostly sleeping through for five months, nothing has changed here. It is soul destroying!
£5.40 to post some boots someone paid £1 for on eBay - grr. £3 for 3 packs of reward chart stickers and a roll of brown paper in pound land. Frugal activity was going through the bathroom cabinets and sorting out about 2 months of moisturiser and eye cream from all the miniatures I have collected rather than buying more :)

ipsos · 20/09/2015 02:52

Spotty Sorry to hear about the ebay trouble. Their customer support is absolutely fantastic, so if you are having any problems at all I would get in touch. It's called the "resolution centre". I've used it a lot and it's great. They will advise you about how to deal with non-collection.

Blue and nice - it's the oddest thing but now that ds is sleeping through, I'm not quite so much. I very often find myself checking the frugaleers at 2am or 4am or thereabouts. Odd that. Must be hard for toddlers if even I can't manage it at 40. Smile Good luck there.

SpottyTeacakes · 20/09/2015 07:11

Thanks ipsos. I used to do eBay for a living, things have changed a bit but I'm sure it'll get sorted. Although the stuff I used to sell was £££££ antiques!

Freeandsinglewater · 20/09/2015 07:20

I had NSd yesterday as I was at work.

babsmam · 20/09/2015 07:22

That reminds me I must get my stuff on eBay. Then again I might just have a car boot instead.

Who knows about today. Definitely £2.50 on hospital parking

ipsos · 20/09/2015 07:41

Gosh spotty I had no idea. That sounds very exciting.

SpottyTeacakes · 20/09/2015 07:58

I definitely learnt a lot about antiques Grin

NK5BM3 · 20/09/2015 08:23

Good morning all... Last couple of days was kinda spendy in that I usually bring my own food to work, but found a Thai pop up shop and it tastes amazing!! So spent a bit on food (£4.50) and car parking (a few events in the evening in town, and a breakfast meeting) £10 in total.

Dd's birthday party on Saturday £125 but that included all food, activity and party bag sort of stuff (£20 deposit a few weeks back).

Aldi £28.40 as our fridge is pretty full. And because I'm really busy at the moment, I don't really have time to cook.

£14 in sainsburys on things like rock salt and innocent smoothies.

Today, maybe lunch out as only have dd with me. Dh and ds at chess tournament!
