It'll be fine spotty.

Collieputthekettleon · 03/09/2015 09:30

Spotty we always use frozen beef cubes in our slow cooker. Smile

Badders123 · 03/09/2015 09:35

I get paid tomorrow (first one!) and most of it is gone on overdraft :(
I have got all ds2s b day gifts and treated myself to a new kindle book.
And have spent £30 on vitamins for my menopause symptoms...I'm getting desperate!
In October I get 2 pay packets and my b day money too. Hurrah!

Whatabout · 03/09/2015 09:49

I am very slow cooker lazy so meat and veg go in frozen and it's never made us ill. I begrudge spending money on energy to defrost or brown meat when I am trying to be frugal by using my slow cooker :-)

peppansalt · 03/09/2015 09:55

Collie, can you post a picture of your lovely cards?

Badders123 · 03/09/2015 09:58

They sound lovely collie...in fact I bought something very similar from etsy earlier this year!

ipsos · 03/09/2015 10:02

Thanks for the warning Collie. I don't know anything about SEO. I ought to learn really. I always get embarrassed because only old and very distant friends comment on mine and then I BlushBlushBlush because there I am talking banal gibberish online and people that I know are reading it. It's basically like a 7 year old singing for the Aunties, but they seem to like it and so do I. Smile

Collieputthekettleon · 03/09/2015 10:14

I'll try and upload a photo later on Smile

I have to share my favourite frugal tip from the August thread as its so obvious and will save quite a few pounds in the long run.
Sweep up the kitchen floor instead of getting the vacuum out. And sweep up larger food crumbs and dirt. It's free to sweep!

It never even occurred to me to sweep up instead of vacuum. Until I realised that it didn't get very dirty upstairs and therefore a manual sweeper might work (haven't bought one yet). Someone on the last thread suggested just a dust pan and brush for quick tidy ups in the kitchen. I'm using the vacuum much less now. Only to get cat furr, tiny food crumbs and sand up every other day in the living room and hall way.

Pretty obvious really. I used to vacuum every day in all the rooms! Saving time & money. And vacuuming used to hurt my back a lot.

Grin my indoor broom is long for less bending! Vacuums are so costly to run so I'm sure it'll save us a few pounds.

lilacclery · 03/09/2015 10:17

That Anna Jones one pot spaghetti on the MN YouTube Channel is definitely going on my meal plan, so easy!

Can't believe how fast this thread is moving.

Girlie I love when you sell something and it balances out what you're spending, must gather up some clothes to put up on fb they didn't sell at all last time so will try again

Collie I have a rechargeable carpet sweeper, my two year old loves a go with it! We tend to sweep the kitchen too, as you say it's free! I like free :-)

Badders123 · 03/09/2015 10:24

Just re did my car insurance.
£6 a month cheaper and I get £50 worth of co op food vouchers too!
Might do the house too and then I will have £100 in vouchers for my Xmas shop!

peppansalt · 03/09/2015 10:28

Illa... Yes that one pot spaghetti looks great. Not sure I could get DCs to eat pieces of cooked tomato though all sauces have to have invisible veg

peppansalt · 03/09/2015 10:31

Whatabout... Can you get floor sweepers for hard floors (& no I don't mean a broom Grin)?

Am sure we had one years ago but the slightest knock to the sweeper meant it spilled dust everywhere Angry

Collieputthekettleon · 03/09/2015 10:41

peppa we have some hard floors too. My grandparents had an Argos sweeper years ago that would spill dust but it looks like they've been developed to be more sturdy and practical. Some are quite pricey! I'll start looking for one again soon.

My Henry hoover is so powerful that I actually struggle to use it. I'm small and feeble though Grin

peppansalt · 03/09/2015 10:46

Collie we have a Henry too and yes aren't they HEAVY!

ipsos · 03/09/2015 10:49

I must admit that I have a roomba and I would not part with it. I just tidied up all of downstairs in an hour and then pressed "start" and then sat down with my newspaper. Free is good, but I would not part with this scheme for the world.

Whatabout · 03/09/2015 10:57

We use our floor sweeper for all our floors, wel I don't, husband or DS or cleaner does..

I'd like a roomba but my cat would end up riding it I'm sure!

ipsos · 03/09/2015 11:05

Nice style what. We have thought several times about getting a cleaner and then we always decide to spend the money on things like the Roomba instead. I'm pretty pleased with it as most of my work is picking up toys and clothes and things, and putting them away, which would be hard for a cleaner to do right. I think Collie is super-virtuous to be doing the low-carbon-footprint version. Well done collie

Whatabout · 03/09/2015 11:09

My cleaner comes on a Monday morning, it means once a week we have to tidy and out things away as she is coming. I know before we just didn't do things unless we had to. She is very frugal as she doesn't tell me when I have run out of cleaning products, she just improvises. I did wander why she wasn't using furniture polish the other day.. We don't have any! If j become a SAHM I will lose her, but DS will be learning how to dust :-)

TheOnlyPink · 03/09/2015 11:12

I always sweep, the Hoover is too heavy and awkward. Would like a little dust buster size one for the stairs tho!

ipsos hope your ds has a good day at school!!

Spent €5 on a new pillow for ds 1 in aldi, €4 on a bag of chia seeds for dh (sounds expensive, but his coeliac cereal is really pricey, so he has a small bowl of that and pads it out with seeds. Chia fill him up lots cos they swell in water!)
And €7 in the stationary shop. Bought a gift for my aunt who has SEN, and I bought those tiny pegs collie was talking about for her advent calendar! Just need to find tiny envelopes next! Smile

lilacclery · 03/09/2015 11:21

TheOnlyPink I think I've a set of teeny envelopes at home, came with something belonging to dd, I'll check it out tonight and will post them to you if I can find them.

I buy my chia seeds in Aldi, sometimes hard to get the pack that isn't milled there though.

My dyson needs the filter cleaning or maybe a service (is that even possible?) It's not sucking up right & my car is due for nct Sunday so I'll have to sort it out asap, it's been on the long finger for about 6 weeks!

whatabout my cleaner leaves the empty bottle on countertop so I know what needs replacing, good job too as I wouldn't even think of buying cleaning supplies! Love the white vinegar spray from Dealz, I feel things are really clean when I spray that.

Interested to hear of putting frozen meat in slow cooker, I just take it out night before and put it in defrosted, always brown mince though, if you don't does it clump in the slow cooker?

peppa I'm all for putting the veg on plate and hoping they'll eat some by accident!

Just seen this on the Christmas threadwww.moneysavingexpert.com/deals/amazon#amazonfree10

I'm eligible. So you buy £40 in gift cards and get £10 free. I hope its legit!

lilacclery · 03/09/2015 11:29

Tesco email arrived yesterday free delivery until Sept 6th, I've a lidl voucher must be used by 5th, and I'm not around to take delivery then, only did a huge shop on Mon, presses are groaning but will lose out on €10 off if I don't use it- going to get a delivery Fri eve instead. Can't throw away €10! Will get milk and bread for freezer and storecupboard items, if Fairy is on offer - wash up or washing powder will fill up with that.

Colleague gave me loads of tomatoes and a cucumber from her polytunnel & we have lots of plums, apples and rhubarb too, going to batch cook some stewed fruit/chutney on Sunday

Ipsos Envy Envy at your Roomba! I would luuurve one especially as we have big rooms. Do they really do the job properly and can they. I've between rooms?

SpottyTeacakes · 03/09/2015 12:41

I remembered I had meatballs in the fridge anyway so will have those instead.

£10 up on fb selling.

Taking ds to a free music class in a bit. Got that horrible anxious feeling about going somewhere new it's ridiculous. It makes me not want to go but I will for ds.

Have listed lots on eBay to finish a week Sunday have put the pushchair on as no luck on selling sites on fb.
