ipsos and pointless I hope both of you feel better now
I am also worried about my ds going back to school. He is only just 11 (had birthday on Tuesday) and is still trying to catch up at school. I didn't think he was ready for school so we were given a choice of later start in January or having an extra year at the nursery and going straight to year 1. We picked the later start in January and I guess I will never know if the other option would have been better for him.
I am Czech and we start proper school at 6 but you can ask for a later start if you feel your child is not ready (my parents did it for my younger brother and it really helped him)

I don't know if he is going to be able to cope with the new routine and all the extra homework. Over the last 7 years they have done lot of different assessment with him but we still don't have a clear diagnosis and we often feel like banging you head on the wall with all the bureaucratic bullshit when they keep passing his case around like a parcel between different departments.

AdoraBell · 29/08/2015 22:19

£60-ish on an on-line shop.

babsmam · 29/08/2015 22:29

Managed to get the campsite WiFi. £26.51 on our share of dinner. Definitely not organised enough though but I've never been camping before so it's all a learn.

ipsos · 29/08/2015 22:40

lovetoknit I know just what you mean. I was lucky that I moved school at age 8 from a rather pushy English private school where I was almost the youngest in the year, to a very gentle Scottish state school where I was almost the oldest. It saved me academically. I went from being a bit of a no-hoper to getting constant top marks and finally a 1st class honours degree. I was 28 years old when I finally realised it was my eyes that were the problem. They were not quite lined up right and I was having epic reading trouble, but nobody knew. It turned out to be fixable with exercises. :-) WooHoo! Good luck with your ds.

Collieputthekettleon · 29/08/2015 22:46

Just randomly bought 2 birthday (november) presents for DS:

  1. Roald Dahl audio cd 29 stories for £20 = amazing value! Will last years. He loves stories in the car so this is so perfect.
  2. Set of 10 books for £5

Couldnt resist. The prices were so fab. Also got 3% cashback

AuditAngel · 29/08/2015 23:05

Welcome to the newbies.

Had a dreadfully spendy day. £62 in the school uniform shop. For that I got a book bag and PE bag for DD2, 2 cardigans and 2 PE tops one for each for the girls.

£105 in Aldi, included £16 for Bluetooth headphones for DS and quite a bit of meat to top up the now defrosted freezer.

Quiet day tomorrow, but need to try to get DS's school coat. Also need to get some more shopping (lacto free milk, pizzas, deodorants, shampoo/conditioner and some other stuff)

ohhelpohnoitsa · 29/08/2015 23:26

ipsos no dietry issues here but dc3 likes to make wraps with no wrap..he will take a slice of ham or quorn and fill it with coleslaw, cucumber and carrot and wrap it. Sounds healthy doesnt he ........but then he dips the whole thing in sweet chilli sauce!

Trying to sort some holidays which I find very stressful yet rewarding. I am always of rhe opinion that I "can do better" so even when I see somewhere I like, I still have to check there is nothing else nicer / cheaper / closer to bistros etc etc. Strange as I never do this with clothes or food shopping. I just cannot bare to be ripped off. I like to spend my £ as effectively as possible. I just wish we had a close family member who worked for a major airline or travel agent. But we dont....so back to the www it is. Anyone been to Benahavis? Better than the New Golden Mile areas?

Pointlessfan · 30/08/2015 06:33

Feeling much better today, thanks for all the kind messages, but now the bloody cat's been sick!
Don't know what we're going to do today but we're all desperate to get out of the house. It might be a walk round the lovely gardens of our nearest NT property, still feeling wonky enough that we can resist buying cake or ice cream!!

ipsos · 30/08/2015 07:23

Pointless if you can manage to stay away from other people for 48 hours, that would help the rest of us a lot. These bugs zoom through the population very quickly, and if even one family has the sense to keep the germs to themselves then is really helps stop the spread. Hope your day is better today.

Ememem84 · 30/08/2015 07:47

Hoping for nsd today. I don't need to buy anything. It's Sunday. Shops are closed here.

I found a bag of euro cents yesterday. Counted them up and have a total of €16. Dms agreed to swap them for gbps.

And I sold 2 more things on eBay. Total of £18.50 made yesterday. Hooray!

Still coughing so dh has suggested I stay home today (so I don't annoy anyone else with my barking cough) and I'm planning on vegging out in front of Netflix.

I desperately want to get sky again but the deals aren't great at present for us. The best one offers free broadband and calls which would be fab if we could get that where we are. But. We can't. So Netflix it is. Which is cheaper but I miss criminal minds and elementary and game of thrones

lilacclery · 30/08/2015 07:47

Place marking.

SpottyTeacakes · 30/08/2015 07:49

I'm not doing anything today. My friend is coming round to collect a stair gate (£10 up) and I think I'll make a roast dinner. Dh is popping out to buy some spacers for the tiles in the kitchen but he will pay for those.

Our mot is due soon we have a quik fit voucher for £30 mot but not sure I trust them to do it?

Had a lie in until 7 this morning thank you ds Grin

SpottyTeacakes · 30/08/2015 07:51

Emem can you get now TV? You can get Sky Atlantic etc on that and loads of Disney films for the dc. If I wasn't so addicted to series link and fast forwarding the ads I would get it!

Badders123 · 30/08/2015 07:56

Pointless...please don't go somewhere where there are very elderly and very young people shedding your germs!
Sigh.
Why do people do this?
Just stay and home and stop the virus spreading in the wider community!

Badders123 · 30/08/2015 07:58

I am trying to convince Dh to get Amazon prime (in time for Xmas shopping do the delivery is free!) but he is resisting :(
I need to try and convince work I need different hours - Dh is being promotors and it means more travel :( I need work in the daytime school hours, and nor weekends.
I hope they can do it or I will have to leave.

lilacclery · 30/08/2015 08:14

Can't remember who was talking about homemade Christmas gifts but yesterday i made slow cooker fudge as an activity for sleepover playdate. It's so easy & amazing too. recipe trick is to keep going until it forms a crust

QforCucumber · 30/08/2015 08:16

Yesterday - £1.30 on an m and s cheese scones,
Today is aldi shop day but don't need lots so probably only about £30 spend to see us through until next weekend. Dp is in York with friends for the day - I was invited but at 12 weeks pregnant really don't fancy spending the day watching everyone else get drunk - intend to empty, defrost and inventory the freezer as it seems to be full but full of nothing.

Collieputthekettleon · 30/08/2015 08:17

pointless our cat puked up the other day too. It was grim!

ipsos · 30/08/2015 08:28

Well said badders Smile These bugs knock me over for a fortnight every time. I would be so glad if people would just keep the germs to themselves so they didn't reach me so often.

Fluffycloudland77 · 30/08/2015 08:29

Spotty Mse always says to use the council run mot centres. I bet they have a list on the site. The motor trade is so dishonest.

Dh is motor trade so I can say that with conviction. Some of the things he's seen Shock

ipsos · 30/08/2015 08:31

I'm continuing my meal planning today. I realised yesterday that I've been so focused on getting ds fed and healthy that I have barely any idea of what dh eats. Project for today - finding that out. Smile

Unescorted · 30/08/2015 08:31

Yay - I can get back on Grin thought I would be without IT all weekend.

I went for my run - it was lovely (never thought I would ever get to that stage]. The views were stunning and it wsan't too hot. I go running with someone who is much faster than I am so it is always me who is holding her up... I was so pleased that we caught up someone who I have always thoguht of as a good runner. They could have been having a bad day, but it was a real sense of achievement. We even added a bit extra on.... I have officialy lost the plot.

The cookbook has not got any further - I popped into my parents & Mum wasn't looking too great so we stayed to cheer her up & take her mind off the pain of the radio. They have had to stop her chemo for a week to allow her platelets to recover. But for who ever it was asking up thread - it is going to include all the things that are really easy to make that cost a fortune. Bits on scaling recipes, being flexible and spice mixes to give different results from essentially the same ingredients. Also the cakeage recipes and the old recipes - things that previously everybody knew, but now are getting lost or ones that easily could because we now pick the things up from the supermarket.

Ememem84 · 30/08/2015 08:33

spotty I'm not sure if we can get now TV (Channel Islands so there's a lot we can't have) but I'll have a look. Parents have sky so might see if I can upgrade them/sign them up to sky go so I can watch on my Mac.

Netflix is great and we have Amazon prime too so TV wise we should be sorted. It's just that winter is coming and I need my series'

badders if you do get Amazon prime change the settings to monthly payment. Much healthier for bank account. or just sign up to your free month mid/end November

Unescorted · 30/08/2015 08:35

MSE link to MOT related things

It used to save me a fortune when we had skip.

574ejones · 30/08/2015 08:39

Love adult colouring (sounds wrong, doesn't it?) but have managed to use pencils I already have!

Fuzzpig have been reading your board games thread and my Amazon wish list has grown!!

Very spendy yesterday: £236 four tyres, £40 haircut, £9 in Boots.

Hope you are feeling better today ipsos.
