I'm hopefully going to buy DS's school shoes today, ouch Grin.

lilacclery · 15/08/2015 08:21

CNPPLW code for iclothing 20% off & free delivery valid for August.
Just tested a basket last night & it's valid on multiple shops. I saved €50 with items being on sale & with discount yesterday.

Unescorted · 15/08/2015 08:40

I have depressed myself by reading the budget wine & disposable income threads. Ah well....

I have run out of ideas for meals this month - It is quite hard to think up 33 meals (it is a long month this time around because we got paid a day early this month). The things they like all take time to cook and all I want to do when I get in from work is sit down and do nothing. Maybe I should get the "Lazy Children and Husband Cookbook - how to avoid a screaming harridan in your life".

Anyhoo off to the supermarket - the joy.

SpottyTeacakes · 15/08/2015 08:49

I struggle just thinking of meals for the week!

Ursulatodd · 15/08/2015 09:04

Me and DD had a day out with friends yesterday - £9.50 entry to train museum and £4.75 in the cafe. I took packed lunch, resisted the souvenir shop and decided not to upgrade to a year's membership as its a long drive away and, although an enjoyable day, we already have two annual memberships to other places so couldn't be sure we'd get our money's worth.

Frugal fail: I thought we were going to a friend's house yesterday evening for dinner but it turned out to be drinks and nibbles Confused (communication breakdown between me and DH) so walking home a bit tiddly we had to nip into spar to get some ready meals! (Then again, we had discussed a take-away so £7.50 compared to £20 not too bad)

Today's plan is visit to National Trust then lunch with the in-laws. It's a fair bit of driving but other than petrol usage should be quite low spend.

Frugal tip: recently I've started stocking up on not only birthday cards for my card box but also new home, new baby etc. it's surprising how often they're needed and would always be the ones that I panic bought.

lilacclery · 15/08/2015 09:30

unescorted can you do some prepping on a day off to get ahead for the week? I buy peppers & onion already sliced & diced because they go into most of our meals so it's 20 min saved every evening
Tried to prep meat buy marinating or dicing the evening before or that morning. Also slow cooker is my best friend

SpottyTeacakes · 15/08/2015 10:45

£48.17 tesco delivery

TheOnlyPink · 15/08/2015 10:49

Hello!
So glad it's the weekend, dh is home. Had a tough week without him! Kids were very unsettled.
Had a nsd yesterday, and should have one today too. Payday on Friday, so starting to think of our budget. This month has gone really well, and September should be a lot easier because I won't have to entertain the children every day! Feeling very proud of myself!

unescorted I read a few pages of the disposable income thread, had to leave it! Was very depressing!

peppapissinpig · 15/08/2015 10:58

Must do food shopping this morning while DD at gymnastics. Got £34.67 left in grocery budget according to Ynab - that's supposed to be it for the month ????????????????.

At least with only 30 mins to whizz round Aldi and get back to DD I'm limited on how much I can buy!

£34 for 2 adults, 2 kids for 2 weeks - can it be done ??

Wedding anniversary today so a few things planned. Garden centre and IKEA haha before dinner out tonight. It's our wool anniversary so we have chosen a nice rug from IKEA for the dining room.

Hi all, so went out last night somehow spent £10 but that was 2 lemonades and a chicken kebab type thing on the way home Blush was so nice and I was starving though Grin plus was spending the money a friend owed me so actually was £10 up by the end of the night!

Today have been knackered but managed a NSD, my mum kindly paid for dds horse riding lesson and no other spends.

My dad bought round a corner cabinet for my kitchen which I am really pleased with, looks good and saves me buying one!

Dd off on holiday Monday with my mum and I am back to work Sad these 3 weeks have flown by.

Pointlessfan · 15/08/2015 19:23

sweetkitty I do Ipsos surveys, they pay in points that add up quite quickly to be exchanged for vouchers. I also do Quidco opinions which pay anything from a few pence to a couple of quid and they send them to me regularly too.
Spent over £80 in supermarket today - amazing how adding a few holiday treats (well ok, wine!) adds to the price.

CremeEggThief · 15/08/2015 20:04

Happy anniversary to MissA and her husband Thanks. The rug sounds gorgeous.
£4.23 on groceries at the local shop, £5 on the gas card and £7 on the electricity key. I have a Sainsburys delivery coming on Tuesday for £53.10 too.

I think I have a dental infectionSad. I had my teeth deeply cleaned under local anaesthetic on Tuesday afternoon and I have been in pain ever since, and really not well at all since Thursday night. I rang the dentist for advice yesterday, but they just advised salt mouthwash and lots of painkillers. Today I have a throbbing pain on one side of my mouth, along with a nasty metallic taste and a slightly sore throat, I felt dizzy and really cold earlier and exhausted, so had a long nap this afternoon. Feeling really rather sorry for myself. I hope everyone else is faring better?

Fluffycloudland77 · 15/08/2015 20:05

£5.16 on two led bulbs.
£22.50 going halves with dh on a new lamp for the new console table.

Happy Anniversary MissA.

SpottyTeacakes · 15/08/2015 20:14

Creme can you see an emergency dentist tomorrow?

I've got Gu hot chocolate. It's delicious.
