Whatabout · 14/08/2015 18:24

Only spend today was £8 on a Christmas present for my niece, blinking Christmas thread on here! Tomorrow I have to buy a birthday present and anniversary present for my mum and "pudding". No idea what to get for any of the three!

Fluffycloudland77 · 14/08/2015 18:32

Fab bargain Fuzz.

Sounds awful Audit, menthol crystals are good for unblocking sinuses. Only a few in boiling water though.

I love wilkos, the quality is really good for the price.

NSD.

Nectar sent me some £4 off £20 spend vouchers. No idea if I will actually use them because sains is so expensive. I might get naice wine for next time we see dh's cousin. I don't mind buying the good stuff for people who appreciate it.

Meloria · 14/08/2015 18:39

Might just be me being silly but I can't find the Christmas thread anywhere. Could someone post a link please?

Whatabout · 14/08/2015 18:40

The sainsbury vouchers might be useful next week as they have 25% off again from 18th on Tu

Well we managed to get all the way to Wales without spending any money. It's bloody cold though, as we're in a rented cottage I might put the heating on for a bit!!

Took DS to buy his new uniform, £243.50!!!!!! That was everything from the school outfitters. I had to buy trousers too, but theirs were babyish with elasticated waists rather than adjustable so I ordered from M&S, although £16 each (got 2 pairs)

Still need to buy school shoes for DS and DD2, hoping DD1's still fit from Easter. Also plimsolls for DD2, (DD1 has a pair of back pumps she can wear) but she'll need trainers.

Still need to order DS a cost.

babsmam · 14/08/2015 20:20

I put the playmobil advent calendar x2 in my basket then had to step away. Not going to buy Christmas stuff without a list.

AuditAngel · 14/08/2015 20:24

Forgot, I also bought a rpRebelleNerf now for DD1 for Christmas for £7.50

Lucie99 · 14/08/2015 20:27

We had planned a trip to Brighton today, but the weather forecast was bad so we took the children to a big soft play place - £27 for entry Shock that was just for one hour, but they did have a great time there. Spent £2 on bottled water in there.

I had my eyebrows threaded and lip waxed for £7, spent £6 in the pound shop on drinks, snacks and some garden bits. Then a further £7.50 on 2 washing baskets, a plastic cup for dd2 and a can of Pepsi max.

Took fil shopping in the afternoon and he paid for our stuff, which was £10.50. I think he worked out that things are tight as dh was walking around the shop saying 'don't buy anything else' and 'do we really need that?' fil did keep trying to push big bags of sweets onto us for the children though.

SpottyTeacakes · 15/08/2015 06:18

Ohhelp among other things I got:

Kalo chocolate orange rice cakes (I'm addicted to these they're delicious)
Kalo children's rice cakes choc ones and yogurt ones
Angel cakes
Walkers sensations popadoms and crisps
Jaffa cakes
Fruit pouches
Noodles
Packs of the strawberry ones from tins of roses Grin
Loads of cereal bars for dh for work
Porridge sachets
Organix fruit drops
School bars

Hi all - this has moved so fast since last weekend.

Bread making - can't remember who asked. What exactly is wrong with it? If it is "worthy" brick like, let it rise for longer. I quite often reduce the amount of yeast down and rise it overnight in the fridge. It results in a tastier loaf. French type bread is only 3-4 grains of yeast to start and a 2 day rise. The dough has risen enough when a finger print remains when you poke it. My DH calls my method of testing bread phrenology as I kind of feel how along far it is. The other top tip is to mix the dry & wet until just mixed and then leave it for 20 - 45 minutes before kneading. It results in a moister loaf with a better crumb - you can leave the dough to rise longer before it collapses, so you get more air in it and therefore the bread is lighter.

Sorry - I am a bit of a bread geek.... Blush. I perfected burger buns this week. I was so happy.

Dishwasher - cheaper than a divorce lawyer is my reasoning for having one.

My garden is nearly there - I have planted out the herbs and Aldi's ?1.79 fruit bushes. I hope they still have some today.
