Asda dw tablets are also good and some of the best ones I've found were the own brand ones at the local One Stop.
We only rinse DD's sippy cup spouts under running water and usually just boil one kettle full of water to wash up. The lazy part of me would prefer to put the dw on twice but another part of me likes all the mess cleared up out of the way and not hanging around in the kitchen.

SpottyTeacakes · 09/08/2015 17:35

No asda either...I know fluffy likes the daisy ones though, right?

574ejones · 09/08/2015 17:39

£27 in garden centre on bark clippings and plants, but that has sorted out the last scruffy bit of the garden where the trampoline used to be. Oh and £34 on a provisional driving licence for DS1!

Rafa I'm interested in your free ways to get fit as I am desperate to do regular exercise without having to pay for the gym. So far, I have downloaded lots of local walks and cycle rides (don't really do running), and am counting all the gardening as keep fit activities!

Fluffycloudland77 · 09/08/2015 17:45

I couldn't find daisy powder in tescos, I'll check in the next town tm then email and ask them.

I'm using tesco sp tabs but it's not as good as powder. You could still get daisy powder online last time I looked so I could always order 10 but it's storing them.

Fluffycloudland77 · 09/08/2015 18:37

I've been messing with tesco click and collect and some stores have daisy powder, some don't.

I'm going to stock up.

peppapissinpig · 09/08/2015 18:37

Need to go on a hunt for citronella tomorrow, fecking wasps driving me mad and ruined our bbq ????

SpottyTeacakes · 09/08/2015 18:40

Peppa one of the pubs near us puts little jars of open honey around the bottom of the garden. All the wasps go there so leave everyone else alone.

sweetkitty · 09/08/2015 18:43

I use Aldi dishwasher tablets and often just use a half tablet dishes come out fine.

Good news day the oven broke on Friday but instead of just ordering a new element like in the past we opened it up and it was just a loose connection Smile money saved.

peppapissinpig · 09/08/2015 18:44

Good idea spotty. So honey doesn't make it worse?

SpottyTeacakes · 09/08/2015 18:47

Argh I meant jam not honey. No difference though I suppose. I suppose it depends how big your garden is and how far away you can put them. We unintentionally did a similar thing with a cider can, it kept them away from us and I didn't see any more than usual around the can.

peppapissinpig · 09/08/2015 18:52

GrinCider can! Sounds like my kind of wasp deterrent (obvs would have to quaff most of can)

girliefriend · 09/08/2015 18:58

Hi all, the best cheap dw tablets I found have been Wilkos, they are £2.50 for 30 I think and seem to do a good job.

So today spent £18 in Superdrug, got a fair bit for that though including 3 lots of vitamins (so much cheaper than Holland and Barrett) 2 lots of hair protector and some nice n easy to sort out the grey hair that I keep finding!!

No other spends though, took lunch out with us and went on a long bike ride.

SpottyTeacakes · 09/08/2015 19:09

We don't have a wilkos either Envy

The summer holidays are going so quickly. We've only got three full weeks left and as I'm working on of them I feel like there's only two. I'll be sad when school starts again.

My son has worms!!!! Argh! What do I do? Just googled and it said I can get a tablet and it's a take one and done deal sort of thing. Is that right? I'm 42 and don't remember having worms... What is this dreaded thing and how the hell did he get it? Does dd also have to be treated? And me and dh?! We are washing all the bedding. Argh. Gross.

needastrongone · 09/08/2015 19:33

NK The whole family needs to take a tablet, and wash all your towels and bedding, I think!!! DD had them when she was 3, and proudly announced to the chemist in a packed Boots 'I have worms and I need a tablet'!!!

Make sure the DC and yourselves wash their hands thoroughly, as this is how the eggs are passed round.

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 09/08/2015 19:34

Ha ha, 574ejones, if I find any I'll let you know. Being in the SW, plenty of opportunities for walking, and I have a pre paid bus ticket which means I don't have to pay to get to a wider area than around where I live.

We haven't had worms yet but I dread it! Poor you NK. Yes, everyone in the house needs treating once and again a week later. Be careful when you change the bedding, if you shake the dirty sheets the eggs can get shaken off. You can buy family packs of ovex from the chemist. Try to tell the dc not the scratch!

SpottyTeacakes · 09/08/2015 19:39

My friends dd has had them twice. She wakes up in the night screaming where they are laying eggs around her front and back. You can see them in the poo too. To double check you should shine a touch up their bum at night and all the wormies come out to say hello.

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 09/08/2015 19:41

Posted too soon. Trying to get asthma sorted properly so I can get back into running a bit.

Thought the free yoga app with a 2 week beginners course would be an idea, but it has turned out to be a terrible one. Although it might work if I leave out anything involving the right arm. Legs feel like they've had quite a good work out.

I'm not really sure what other options there are.

needastrongone · 09/08/2015 19:43

Ok, I improvised on a Jamie Oliver recipe and it was delicious. I marinaded two pork loin steaks in basil infused oil, harissa paste, seasoning, and chopped fresh basil. Gently grilled them.

Roasted a full red pepper in the oven with oil and fresh sage. Boiled some baby new potato's, sauteed a fresh courgette and Halloumi cheese in butter. Dropped in some fresh broad beans into the potatoes for the last few minutes, then mixed all the ingredients gently together, with some more of my marinade mix for the pork. Gently rested the pork on top, yummy!!!

DD has the same, minus the meat as she is veggie.

All bits from the fridge or garden. Abel and Cole is proving to be expensive in itself, but the quality of the product, in particular the meat, means you don't seem to need as much. So I am happy to keep my delivery, and top up with Aldi.

For example, I bought a pack of flat peaches from Aldi. Cheap, but quite 'furry' and rather tasteless, and the DC will then not eat any more of them if they are like that. The packet from Abel and Cole were stunningly yummy!

TheOnlyPink · 09/08/2015 20:20

NK you poor thing, and your poor ds, I had them a few times as a child (I'm 29, so not an old fashioned thing!) And the itch is enough to drive you insane. No shame in it, it's so common!!

need that sounds amazing!! I was really interested in a veg box, but they don't deliver where I am, so I'm jealous! I'd love the challenge of nit knowing what I was getting.

spotty congrats on your dishwasher! Love your calculations, such sense!

LSD here today, just small few groceries. Got a €10 off €50 lidl voucher which tesco honour, but paper was €2 so really only €7, but it will still make a difference!
Dh just left for his flight. Resisting the urge to go online shopping because I'm bored. Was going to treat myself to a new book on the kindle, but have the first 3 discworld novels waiting to be read!

NK5BM3 · 09/08/2015 20:46

Thank you all. Ok one round of bedding in the wash. Rest standing by.

Will go early to the pharmacy to get the tablets. I need to go to work too but will be done by lunch. I'm not supposed to be in but needs must. (Students have bloody resit exams!!) Will tack on the extra days at the end.

How do I know he has worms. Well he has been having constipation and he's now on med to clear that. So he's a lot more aware of his poo and reports any bowel movement (I know, gross). So when he did one this evening, he shouted and told us. I've never seen them before but there they were, embedded in the poo. Some moving. Shock

He's never had a mega itchy bum! At least not to the extent described here. Argh. I can't wait for tomorrow morning.

SpottyTeacakes · 09/08/2015 20:50

At least he told you Grin
