On the housekeeping threads some people have 2 dw, one is always free for dirty dishes then. Bit ostentatious but if you've got it flaunt it.

My sticky out dw never bothered me, my dw could spew profanities all day, so long as it's washing my dishes I don't care.

SpottyTeacakes · 09/08/2015 14:48

So....we bought a Bosch dw. It's on finance through ao.com but we currently have £60 leeway in our bill account and it's £25 a month so we can afford it. It was £340 reduced to £299 plus £20 off promo code so we will end up paying back £307 over the year. I went through tcb but not sure if it'll track with finance, if it does that's £6 back. Anyway it's being delivered next Sunday Grin and I blame fluffy Grin it had 5/5 on the reviews and there's not many that get that.

SpottyTeacakes · 09/08/2015 14:51

Oh and I know we could have saved for six months but as we are currently redecorating our kitchen it makes more sense to get it now

Fluffycloudland77 · 09/08/2015 14:58

Well done! You will not regret it.

You will save loads on water and electric.

Planning a nsd....off to majorca tomorrow so eating fridge contents, packing and cleaning are today's plans.

Have weighed cases .Thought we'd struggle packing for 4 in 40kg and o have about 7kg leeway ponders taking kitchen sink after all

Hopefully we can manage to grab a bite to eat cheaply at the airport tomorrow, flight is at 8pm so I don't think we've got any other option?

Dd has asked for lelli Kellys..I said I would get her some for school (she needs school shoes anyway) but no, she wants the sparkly pump sort. She's 5...can't believe the request tbh! Ds couldn't give a monkeys about what he wears fortunately. Anyone know of any discount codes? She could have them as part of her bday present. ...

Passthecake30 · 09/08/2015 15:05

Yay spotty

Lots of dw tablet offers in tescos atm

SpottyTeacakes · 09/08/2015 15:15

Pass where are you flying from? We always eat at the airport and yes it's expensive but it's part of the holiday Grin

Never seen lelli Kelly on offer

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 09/08/2015 15:29

NSD yesterday, and Orange/EE have sent me a bill for -£11.96, which is the best sort of bill. £12.47 in lidl today.

I really do need to go to lidl or the out of town Tesco more often and get out of the habit of shopping in town.

My experiment with finding free forms of exercise has resulted in me re-injuring my shoulder. So that's going to be quite short lived.

NK5BM3 · 09/08/2015 15:30

Well done spotty on buying the dw. We had one sitting in the garage for a while which we bought off a friend as they were relocating. We installed it last year and i love it!! It's next to my washing machine.

Bought some clothes for summer for the kids h&m £24. Boots £14.

Also £3100 for flights home. Shock

Lucie99 · 09/08/2015 15:46

Quick question Smile. Does anyone still do the lottery whilst trying to be frugal? We've budgeted for lottery tickets (Lotto on a Weds and Sat) but having just purchased my tickets for the rest if the month I'm wondering if I should save the £4 per week instead or maybe just do one a week. The issue is I know my numbers off by heart so.should they come up and I didn't have a ticket I'd be gutted. Having said that, I never check the numbers and rely on the emails notifying me if I've ever had a win so really I'd be none the wiser. Oh what to do? I'm leaning towards saving the cash.

Whatabout · 09/08/2015 16:18

Hello all, sorry to hear of pipes, illness, hated tents and everything else!

Soft fruits freeze well or goosegogs make nice ice cream!

LSD today, £4 on gymnastics for the toddler and DH went to Starbucks on his way back so £2 on that. We have perfectly good coffee at home but never mind!

I've set up some subscribe and saves on Amazon to get the 15% off for the things I'd buy in September anyway. I've put them on six monthly repeat so it's just a nice discount!

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 09/08/2015 16:19

That is unusual, collie. It was really busy this weekend, maybe they're all going back the other way.

Not sure about the lottery, Lucie99, I don't do the national one. Not sure I would though. I've been toying with the idea of doing the staff one at work. It does seem to pay out quite regularly in our department.

Pointlessfan · 09/08/2015 17:01

Can I go back to dishwashers for a second please? We have a slimline one that we use once a day for all our crockery, cutlery, mugs and anything else we can wedge in. As it's a small one we also do a wash up in the sink of larger saucepans and things although we boil the kettle to do that we don't use the boiler for it. Would it be cheaper to just run the dw twice? We are on a water meter if that makes a difference.
Spent £75 on an Ikea gift card today plus £15 in the restaurant. I think we will have to order the other things we want online as our car isn't big enough!

needastrongone · 09/08/2015 17:15

Not sure pointless I do stick everything I can in mine, and run it on the economy wash as often as I need. No idea if that is the most efficient though.

I stopped the Lottery about 18 months ago, and don't miss it at all. I never checked the numbers either!

NSD today. DH's friends called in on their way back from holidays and we had a lovely coffee sat in the garden. They had eaten, so I have extra salad and nibbles to use this week.

pass How about Ebay for Lelli Kelly's, if you get your DD's feet measured. You can wash them, DD's always came up lovely when she was little.

spotty The Aldi dishwasher tablets are really very good, and cheap. They have a Good Housekeeping recommendation on the box. You will NOT regret the purchase, I promise Smile

Fluffycloudland77 · 09/08/2015 17:17

Boiling a kettle is about 3p for a full kettle. It depends how many times you boil it and if you rinse in running water.

if you know your monthly usage on electric you could try it for a month and see if you use more.

So, I rang the shop I wanted to go to repeatedly today, no answer. It rang until the exchange cancelled the call every single time. Drove 30 miles to get to it and they didn't have my size.

Very nice but essentially useless assistant said they must have been busy if no one answered the phone. All morning? really?. I think they've turned the ringer off the phone. Underwear shops aren't exactly groaning with customers, mainly because 50% of the population don't have norks.

I will be complaining. This is why I hate shopping in shops, mail orders much better.

£1 in McDonald's comfort eating.
£2.30 parking to spend 17 minutes in the car park of disappointment.

Brilliant result on your complaint North.

SpottyTeacakes · 09/08/2015 17:18

Ah unfortunately our nearest aldi is well over an hour away!

We just had a BBQ mostly using what we had in but....£17 in Tesco.

We came in £36 over budget last month which is ok as I knew we'd overspent and we can make it up this month.
