£3 on paper and a drink, £20 hairdressers to hide the greying roots.

kids back from grandparents now, not intending on spending any money on them until our holiday on Monday as they have been well and truly spoilt! The most I'll stretch to is an ice cream....

Just need to run the fridge down, shouldn't be hard Smile

spotty I'd have a look at how much tickets are today and then how much tickets are next week to see if there was a difference

Dentist planned today - so £16 ish for both dp and I?

SpottyTeacakes · 07/08/2015 07:34

Pass it's the same for today but I wondered if it would still be more at the station? (Is that a stupid question?!)

NK5BM3 · 07/08/2015 07:37

Hi spotty, the price will be the same, online or at station.

needastrongone · 07/08/2015 07:50

Not good about the pay spotty. This is a recurring theme right?

Should be a NSD today, unless I stop faffing on here and order my Euro's and car parking for the holiday Smile

Chicken and spring green risotto for tea.

SpottyTeacakes · 07/08/2015 08:10

Yep. I've told him to tell his boss he owes us £15 on charges!

£8 up on a fb selling site so far..have listed lots.

AuditAngel · 07/08/2015 08:26

Hi Ladies, still trying to catch up after our holidays.

Yesterday £33.98 buying DS trainers for his birthday and a new water bottle. Spent £34 buying cinema tickets for tomorrow for DS, 3 friends and myself to see Jurassic world. Tickets were less than I expected.

Looking for a bike for him too. Went to Halfords, they steered YS away from one bike saying it wasn't worth the money, suggested another, but DS isn't keen on the colour. Nothing coming up on Gumtree. Going yo check local independent shop, then Toysrus, but Halfords said to avoid geared bikes as kids mash them,

Pointlessfan · 07/08/2015 08:33

I need to run down the fridge before our holiday too although we are self catering so at least I can take odds and ends with us.
Going out for a curry tonight but shouldn't be more than £15 plus I'm driving so no alcohol!

Oops, forgot £9.30 on MacDonalds for kids yesterday.

Going out again to look at bikes for DS, and need present for DD2 to take to a party.

Off sick today (pathetic, it's only a cold!) DS wants to make his own birthday cake, but I'm not up to helping him. Have offered to buy a cake instead.

Unescorted · 07/08/2015 10:02

Audit how old is your ds and what sort of riding does he do? Some of the kids bikes hold their value really well (Isla and Moda especially), although they tend to be more expensive to start. We have sold on some of DS's bikes for more than we paid - although in some cases that may be because people were wanting to support him in his riding so we got them at a good price (free in a few cases). We found it was the weight of the bike that made the most difference to their enjoyment - so the Halfords person is giving good advice if for the wrong reason. There is no point in having gears that don't get used. Cheap (and some expensive) kids bikes tend to have really heavy tubing, gears, pedals and handlebars - they seem to expect a tiny kid to hoik a bike about that weighs half their body weight. No wonder they sit in the garden rusting.

Speaking of which - frugal wins.... Team Sky have given dd a pair of cycle shorts because of her name (they are seeing if they can have a set made up with an extra "e"), DS/ DH tandem has arrived thanks to Alpkit and they have been promised more Rapha cycle clothing. At least sponsorship means that the bike habit is no longer costing money.

iPhone battery replacement is £35 in the town 15 mins away or £30 in the town 40 mins away. I feel like I trust the one further away but would end up spending loads waiting. Hmmm

TheOnlyPink · 07/08/2015 10:34

ipsos happy birthday!! Flowers
Lol at you getting tired after the test, I felt the same when I was applying for mystery shopping! Hope it's just a case of getting used to it though!

Going to be another spendy day for us. It's my ds 1 birthday, so out to subway for lunch and to soft play. Although he got minecraft on the xbox, so think he would prefer to play that all day.
Loved having dh off work, and I've been much more careful with money than I usually would have, but feel we've spent a fortune this month. Starting to count down to payday already. On the plus side, we have one less mouth to feed next week, dh is away with work with an expense allowance, so hoping to keep groceries to a minimum.

Weather is lovely here today, washing on the line! Have hardly used it this summer!

Happy birthday ipsos! And TOP DS1 too :-)

I've signed up for up work, I only got 80% on the spelling test so below average. I find it quite fun to do the tests so at least they'll keep my brain active and demonstrate I need to brush up my spelling!

DH is back from London later, taking us out for early tea apparently. It's made the week cheap for food with him being away on expenses as I don't tend to bother with dinner. Aside from dinner it should be a NSD finally!

Ipsos it is DS's birthday tomorrow too.

Unescorted DS rides to the local shops and around the park. As a family we don't go out riding, haven't since DD1 screamed in the seat on the back of my bike at about 2 years old. As he is about to start secondary school he may ride yo school sometimes (flat roads) and I hope he will use it to socialise with his friends.

Also, DS can be careless with things like padlock keys (he lost the key when he had cycling proficiency and I had to go in with the spare) so we want something that doesn't look too flash.

We expected him to need a 24", but having tried last night he needs a 26". This should mean it lasts longer, he is just turning 11 and U.S. small for his age, so surprised that he needs a bike marketed as 12+

Whatabout · 07/08/2015 12:20

Frugal win! Frugal win! We don't really shop in tesco or use it much, but I have a fob on my keys and swipe it when I do occasionally go in. I got my laughable club card statement today and decided to log in to see whether they keep the vouchers as I know I haven't spent any but don't have them either. £11 of vouchers to spend, just enough for an adult ticket to Thomas Land! I get the pregnant lady rate, DS gets in for £5 and now DH will be free. Saves us £36 for a two minute check. Hooray!

Passthecake30 · 07/08/2015 12:36

There's a pregnant lady rate to places? ponders stuffing pillow up tshirt

Happy birthday ipsosFlowers
