fuzzpig · 04/08/2015 16:53

I have some undrunk pepsi going spare... shall I pour some in the loo? Is that a 'thing'? Shame to waste it if it could do some good in the house, but I'm not drinking it!

TheOnlyPink · 04/08/2015 16:57

Hi all! Hard to keep up with this thread!

Sorry to hear so many of you suffered with PND, I'm one of you. Ds 2 is 3.5 now and still suffer with anxiety.
what hope you escape it this time hun Flowers

Just back from what was supposed to be a trip to the library and an ice cream. Spent €10 in the cafe, €13 on a backpack for ds 2 starting preschool, €25 on a rain jacket for dh, he is going on a work trip to the UK on Sunday and will be getting the train a lot, so will need something light that he can put in his bag. Tbh he needed it anyway, but feel I could have gotten a better price if I had more time! Need to buy him some sterling tomorrow, to get £50 it will cost €75! Shock

Forgot to take the chicken out of the freezer, again! Angry

Help - we have porcelain floor tiles everywhere downstairs except the lounge. They are a matt cream. Beautiful, easy to clean but show up every pigging dog hair my black lab sheds ????. Don't think I'd choose anything else apart from maybe a more mottled pattern to hide the shit that gets trampled through.
We have underfloor heating which is great in winter to avoid cold feet.

We also have back granite work tops which was a BIG mistake. We live in East Anglia with really hard water so matter how much I shine them not much they never stay sparkly for long. Wish I had looked at alternatives. However they are incredibly durable and after 15 years don't have a mark on them (except wAter marks that is!)

574ejones · 04/08/2015 19:10

£11 top up shop. Had an attempt at making my own hummus from half a can of chickpeas which I would usually have chucked away. It tastes alright, and will make a nice carrot and hummus sandwich for my lunch tomorrow.

Whatabout · 04/08/2015 19:12

We have Matt tiles and they are lovely and clean easily. Friend has gloss and spends her life cleaning them as they water mark easily.

Went to gp and felt a bit miserable afterwards as I have to have more blood tests. Went to Tesco and spent £35, I only popped in for son cheering ice cream! Everything I bought I need (pads for after baby, napisan to wash the clothes that have been in the loft, a tub of formula as I will have to mix feed due to supply issues), I did put back the £4 glossy magazine, so that was good. I'm annoyed at myself for not shopping around for the pads or napisan so I might check home bargains tomorrow and see if I have any boots points to see if j can take them back. I'm feeling quite determined not to spend more than I absolutely have to.

Pointlessfan · 04/08/2015 19:16

Bought my Milton stuff to demould the tent today, £2 got me a huge bottle. There are instructions on it to stetilize "bottles or breastfeeding equipment", I didn't realise I should have sterilized my boobs! Grin

SpottyTeacakes · 04/08/2015 19:24

I never sterilised my pump or anything Confused

Lovetoknit · 04/08/2015 19:48

LSD today, just £10 for bag of layers pellets and a bag of mixed corn for our chickens from Griggs. We have 9 hens and a cockerel called Neville (dc named them all after Granny Pig chickens) so it will last the whole month. They are ex barn hens from British Hen Welfare Trust but we still around half a dozen eggs a day. Dc really liked them, especially the evening "round up" since they won't go to bed by themselves.
Ds had another great day at summer school, even did some sewing on the sewing machine and made himself a bag.
DDs did lots of crafts today with only few squabbles.
Managed to get some baking done - gingerbread cake, breakfast bars and Danish style sweet bread for tomorrow's breakfast.

A funny sort of a day here, dd def not 100% but very hard to put a finger on what is wrong iykwim. She has been really tearful all day, sobbed earlier as a girl she was playing out with called her fat! She is def not fat so laughable really but today dd just completely lost it Sad Have let her sleep in my bed tonight for a treat, really hoping she wakes up happier tomos as we are then off to Weymouth!

Feeling bit guilty as made dd pay me back some money I lent her last week so she could spend £12 on a soft toy she wanted. I did say to her at the time that it was something she would have to payback as my purse is not a bottomless bit (I wish!) Still felt weird taking money off her though although am sure it will be spent on her in one way or another!!

Realised tonight that Weymouth is really close to Durdle Door so def added that to my list of things to see Grin

Peppa I have found ASDA school shoes are as good if not better than Clarkes!! They seem to scuff less but it is hit and miss with regards to getting a decent style.

SpottyTeacakes · 04/08/2015 20:20

Girlie could it be hormonal? Poor dd.

We were going to put vinyl in our kitchen Blush as it's cheap but I saw some porcelain tiles in homebase on offer I think we're going to get. Our kitchen is 20 square metres so fairly big for such a small house! Still struggling to find a colour we like after trying about eight testers. They never match the colour on the tin Hmm

lilacclery · 04/08/2015 20:24

whatsabout I've some washable breastpads from mother-care that I'd be happy to post to you if you'd like them.
On dd I also suffered from pnd even though I didn't realise it until I had ds, after dd I couldn't wait to go back to work & it did help me feel better, I think like girliefriend I work better with routine & structure. With ds I managed mat leave better as has routine of dd going to play school her naps, and a few activities plus twice a week I left him to childminder so I could go running with a group.

Hope you've a nice holiday girliefriend

This thread is moving so fast!!
I'm not even going to bore you guys with my spends, I survived the bank holiday weekend with about €9 in my purse & €7 in my personal account. I'm happy with that ate out twice, dhs birthday also.

Whatabout · 04/08/2015 20:28

We had vinyl in our old house and in many, many ways I preferred it. It washed well, it was warm and soft and you couldn't chip it! I have so many chips in my porcelain tiles.

girliefriend · 04/08/2015 20:45

Spotty i wondered that but she is only 9yo Confused I really hope hormones aren't kicking in already - eek! I think she is under the weather, she went straight to sleep at 7.45 which is unusual for her, bedtime normally 9pm ish. She did have a couple of spots on her legs and am praying its not chicken pox or something, she has had it before as a baby so would be unlikely right?!

SpottyTeacakes · 04/08/2015 20:48

They usually show on the torso first. Could it be viral? I was wearing a bra at 9 so not too early for hormones? no boobs now though

Hmm hope we aren't making the wrong decision, tiles are nicer to look at than vinyl aren't they?

NK5BM3 · 04/08/2015 20:53

Haven't managed to catch up sorry. A few nsds then spendy today as dh's birthday. Dinner out which was a surprising £28 as kids ate free! £10 Sainsburys and £10 tesco. Photo frames for dd's nursery teachers and some beef for dinner with friends next week. And a water bottle for ds.

TheOnlyPink · 04/08/2015 20:56

girlie hope she is ok! My Ds1 is 8(on Friday!) and is often very teary and sensitive when he needs a bit extra sleep. I noticed it a lot at the end of term in June. Fingers crossed the early night sorts her. Have a great holiday!

After collie mentioning a winter checklist, I decided to do one today too, and bloody glad I did (huge thanks to collie, Flowers). We need a few things sorted, things that I would have put on the long finger until the very last second and not have had the money for. Want to make the house warmer too. We are lucky that it's relatively new and easy to heat, but still think I can do a bit more.
Started by looking for crochet patterns for draught excluders. Have plenty of yarn and even some stuffing, so will start on that tomorrow.

wheelycote · 04/08/2015 21:16

girlie a night in your bed might do the trick. Keep an eye on her wee...Make sure it's straw coloured and not dark...would just mean she's a bit dehydrated. Summer hols kids tend to be too busy playingto drink as much as they would in school. Not enough fluid can make anyone lethargic, flu y symptoms, ratchety. Especially if not opened bowels for day or two as well.
9 is a funny age where girls become more aware of body image and if someone has been mean to her she may be feeling a little insecure. Night in parents bed works wonders. Hope she's back to her normal self soon Brew Thanks Brew Thanks

Pointlessfan · 04/08/2015 21:24

Pink I was thinking about draft excluders today too. Might cut up old trousers to make some.
GBBO starts tomorrow and I'm very excited but it always makes us crave cake so going to make a banana loaf tomorrow to use up manky bananas.

{angry] MN is taking so long to load this evening, ive nearly given up trying to post! its all the blimmin adverts.. Is there a way of just seeing MN text only?

Spendy day but (mostly budgeted for )
£27.50 haircut and tip. My hairdresser is leaving! (she's really not allowed to do that .. ) So now I will have to find someone else , usually even though I just have it cut short and spiky (think Annie Lennox , those of you old enough -I colour it white blonde to cover the grey ) , it took me ages before i found her to get a decent haircut round here. Everyone else just seemed to give me a really boring style, like they were too scared to be radical..

£44.95 petrol

£8.81 in the co op

Spends Not budgeted for ( will have to come out of savings)

£27 ( ahem what was that about avoiding sales?Blush on the lovely dress I saw in Laura Ashley a couple of weeks ago (it was reduced again)

£1.99 on kindle book The Beginners Goodbye ,Anne Tyler, this has been on my wish list for a good 2 years and ive never seen come down to this price before

£29.95 replacing my favourite sandals (my only pair of white ones) which broke today when I was out wearing them.. Angry
