Frugal win there wheely. Must've taken you ages to do the whole floor.

www.diy.com/departments/bq-pvc/-brush-door-seal-l838mm/177108_BQ.prd We have something similar to these on every single door. Draughts make a house miserable.

collie Fab, he won't notice.

pointless download the boiler manual and see what sort it is etc. PigletJohn in property/diy is good on boilers. Why would it fire up if you didn't need it?. PJ will know.

£1.50 non bio wash.
29p bleach for spraying cups before the Dw goes on.
£1 g&t

£25 gift for a raffle. I will ask for a receipt so I can claim it back as a business expense. They sent me a letter requesting it so I can staple everything together for the accountant.

Pointlessfan · 04/08/2015 22:04

Haven't turned down the water temp yet but have changed the timer to just heat it for 30 mins instead of an hour.

Fluffycloudland77 · 04/08/2015 22:09

It all helps. There's probably lots of lurkers adjusting stats and timers too.

Less money on boring stuff means more fun stuff.

Finally gets to the end of the thread

My first NSD day today. I've spent 4 very cold hours on an air-conditioned train today and been freezing. So I've also been thinking about keeping warm this winter. I'm currently wondering how I can line my windows with fleece and/or bubble wrap. Not keen on damaging the fairly new plaster and paint... Same goes for even more door curtains.

This week I've been taking daily gas and electric readings and calculating the cost. It looks like £4.50 for a week in summer and that's being very frugal.

I have made a simple draft excluder from ds old school trousers and filled it with fabric and wool scraps for my office as there is a couple inch gap between the door and the floor. We have already hang door curtains at front and back door and the new windows will help too.

AuditAngel · 04/08/2015 23:50

Hi all, arrived back safe and sound from Greece. So glad we didn't cancel.

Well, taxi back from the airport was £38, so fave him £40 including a tip. Tesco at lunchtime was £26, a few things for today and tomorrow. Tesco order placed £157, I feel that I got quite a lot for the money, only a few extras, lots of fruit and veg. I would have preferred to do an Aldi/Lidl shop, but no time today as I joined Slimming World, £5 joining fee plus £5 per meeting.

I did the Tesco order after the meeting so lots to cook from scratch and no convenience foods.

Need to get Diesel tomorrow, plus DS has a tooth just about out (tooth fairy to visit) I will buy a ready meal for lunch tomorrow (diet friendly), as don't have all the diet friendly food until tomorrow night.

Thursday we have to go and choose DS a bike for his birthday, looks like £120.

AuditAngel · 04/08/2015 23:51

Meant to say, welcome newbies, not had time to read past page 4, will sketch up tomorrow

oliveobsessed · 05/08/2015 05:32

Only had planned spends yesterday:

£34 chiro
£30ish asda click amd collect but had to send a ciuple of substitutions back.

Now for the darling baby son to go to bloody sleep so i can get some sleep as well.

Should be a nsd tomorrow and hopefullynthursday

northender · 05/08/2015 06:08

Glad you had a good holiday Audit
Yy to draught excluders etc. preparing for the colder weather is certainly worth it in terms of money and energy saving.

Myturnnow4 · 05/08/2015 06:17

I just have bought draft-excluders (from pre-frugality). They're the round, plump sausage ones but I think the saggy heavy ones look more convincing. What do others think?

Another purchase from earlier times are a couple of solar power desk lamps which are proving useful when I just need a bit of light to brush my teeth or get a beaker of water.

SpottyTeacakes · 05/08/2015 06:45

Well it was going to be a nsd but we desperately need ink for the printer so that's £24 and I've got to go and collect it at the nearest homebase (can take those testers back too!). Am taking the dc to the garden centre with the £20 voucher I have so they can choose what they like.

Binglet · 05/08/2015 07:19

Couple of NSDs here ???? Bought DD some fab shoes from eBay, two pairs, one pair of clarkes and one pair of converse. She's just getting the hang of walking now. Got them in next size up so she can have them once she's mastered it all.

Looked on Gumtree and may have found another set of 5 pairs of shoes, (inc clarkes almost brand new) for £5. These will just do for ruining at nursery.

Went gym last night and have been good and taken lunch each day this week. Stolen 45p from DP though for a cup of tea. I've not had one all week.

Off to bingo tonight with my DM. It's only £5 so hoping for a nice big win. Do have to share though with whoever comes. It's the bingo rule. Hoping someone wins!

Frugal win, friend getting married in October and I had saved £200 for hotel budget. Managed to book two rooms for £100. So £100 saving to add on to holiday fund. Only off to Cornwall but can not wait!

wheelycote · 05/08/2015 07:40

Need to buy bottled gas today....for camping stove. Never bought it before or any idea how big a bottle needed...someone's kindly given me there bottle to take and swap....Never done it before.

SpottyTeacakes · 05/08/2015 08:04

I just bought a pair of jeans Blush I currently have two pairs and they both have holes in. £17.99 on eBay bnwt river island.

Ds doesn't use his pushchair anymore does anyone buy second hand ones? Is it worth trying to sell?

TheseSoles · 05/08/2015 08:27

Buggies sell really well, depends a bit on brand though. Good ones you can get about 50% back, cheaper ones you might only get a fiver. Cleaning it really well helps!

SpottyTeacakes · 05/08/2015 08:29

It's a mutsy evo. I've got maxi cosi adapters and a foot muff so over £300 new. Also got the buggy board.

Unescorted · 05/08/2015 08:32

Girly I remember my DD going through a miserable patch when she was 9ish. Female friendship groups seem to form and break up with amazing speed at that time and she seemed to be aware that having a "best friend" was the thing to do. On the days it was her turn not to have a best friend she got really upset (understandably)... It sorted itself out eventually, but it is hard while it s going on.

Wheely - one of the 3.5KG Butane Calor gas ones lasts about 4 camping trips (8-10 weeks worth), but we only use it for cooking / heating water. A swap / refill is loads cheaper (make sure you have the regulator cap - the thing that looks like a screw in handle).

lilacclery · 05/08/2015 09:00

Wow this thread is moving super fast - buggies do sell well on our local facebook groups. I purchased one for €30 which had carrycot, buggy, raincover, fleece liner included - finished with it now must put it up for sale again!

This night two weeks we'll be saying goodbye to our au pair & packing for our mini holiday -2 nights in the South East of Ireland, and coming back to a Festival at home too so it'll be a nice break. Kids have lots of new clothes that fit them from my Penneys spree so packing will be easy for them.

TheseSoles · 05/08/2015 09:16

Mutsy evo ebay sold prices suggest between 40-100 second hand with raincover and cosy toes. (I'd try a fb page first)

I'd sell the buggy board seperately.

Whatabout · 05/08/2015 09:42

Definitely sell the buggy, local Facebook groups are great for this and there are often dedicated pushchair ones.

I thought today would be a NSD but I have to go to ikea to buy the children's kitchen for a friends child's birthday. Going halves on it and I have plenty in the present fund to cover it.

While I'm there im going to look for a cheap fleece I can use to cut up and make some taggies for expected babies with some other fabric and some scraps.

TheOnlyPink · 05/08/2015 10:03

I have two buggies to sell, really need to do it, they are just taking up space. Both are in really good nick, ds 2 did not like the buggy. As soon as he could walk at 13 months he was having none of it.

Thanks for all the tips for making draught excluders!

lilac hope the sunny south east warms up a bit for your hols! Today is like the middle of November!

girlie hope your dd is better this morning!

Was hoping for a nsd today, but need to go to aldi for gluten free digestive biscuits for ds 1 birthday cheesecake and need to buy dh sterling for his trip.
Weather is so awful, don't know what to do with the kids today. This is week 6 of the summer holidays, starting to look forward to September now!
