I got mine in Home Sense. They had quite a good selection, I just got the cheapest. I had to walk through the rest of the shop with blinkers on so I wasn't tempted to buy anything else, kitchen stuff is my weakness!

Hi been v busy at work... So haven't been checking in.

Whoever was talking about the cracked heels, I did a treatment at home (having read on here about how great the footner is but how great the cheap alternatives are online).. And omg the skin peeling off my heels and my foot was vv satisfying. And it was only £3. Footner is something like £20 in boots. Got mine off amazon. It was posted from Korea I think - you soak your feet in these plastic bags of glycolic acid or something. Like a foot bath. Then wash it off after an hour or so. Wait a few days, soak your feet in bath water when you take your bath, rub it a little and watch the skin just peel off. My foot looks great.

Will be slightly spendy today. Have to get a birthday card and dinner out with friend.

A question re railcards if I may. I did post that my friends and family railcard is expiring. Just read up about different cards, and I think the network rail card might be better for me. The f&f works if I travel in a group. But the network rail allows discounts for when I'm travelling alone as well as when I'm in a group (including kids). Is that a better deal you think? Still £30. What do you guys think? Can't make up my mind today... Dithering...

SpottyTeacakes · 23/07/2015 07:43

I have a network rail card it's great Smile

Collie, Aldi does loads of pre-packed fruit and veg. What I didn't realise (discovered on a Aldi bashing thread) is that they don't put 'use by' dates on the packaging. Not sure how they get away with that, but it does mean it's sensible to inspect the produce properly before buying.

I generally love Aldi but the quality of f&v can be a bit hit and miss.

Peppapissinpig · 23/07/2015 09:25

NK5 that would be my minging feet ????.
Thanks for the tip. I had heard of Footner but discounted it for being too expensive. Will check out Amazon

Myturnnow4 · 23/07/2015 09:46

Another thanks for the cheap foot skin peely stuff tip!

girliefriend · 23/07/2015 10:03

I find the f&v in Lidls can be hit and miss as well, some of it is lovely but recently their carrots have been awful and shrivelled up after a day or two! Generally the Morrisons f&v is better.

Got the day off today with nothing planned Smile lovely!

I think it can differ from store to store too. Our Tesco is pretty good but I'be seen people on MN complain about Tesco fruit and veg. Our Co-op is rubbish though and it's always mouldy or shrivelled after a day or two.

northender · 23/07/2015 11:21

Today I'm at home with no car as dh has driven to work. Still looking for a replacement car but in the meantime have arranged to have mine taken away (£96 scrap) so a bit of money towards the new one.
I've just put a couple of things on FB selling pages so we'll see how that goes.
I'm trying to get my feet into shape for our holiday. I've used footner a couple of times and it is good but I have so much hard skin that it has a battle! I've got a Ped egg cheese grater type thing that I use and then lots of cream too.

SpottyTeacakes · 23/07/2015 12:05

90p on bread and £2.90 posting something I sold on eBay. Signed dd up for the summer reading challenge at the library. I finally got the Velcro coins but I haven't got enough! When I ordered 40 I assumed 40 pairs, but no Hmm only 20 pairs.

babsmam · 23/07/2015 13:13

i dont get aldi F&V as the quality is poor in our store. Lidl is better but i tend to stick to sainsburys. Cupboard stuff is great in adli though.

right need to get off here and pack for holidays and tidy up for the burglars.

SpottyTeacakes · 23/07/2015 13:46

I find lidl fruit and veg pretty ropey too unfortunately.

avocadotoast · 23/07/2015 14:25

The last lot of Aldi fruit & veg I got was really good quality, much better than the potatoes I got from Morrisons the other week that went manky in three days Angry But then I've had stuff from Aldi before that wasn't as good. I really think it depends what you get.

Been to Sainsburys spent £7.50 on lunch for me and dd which I thought was pretty good value (it was cooked lunch!)

Also £11 on various bits and pieces, got those ant stations as they were reduced to £1.80, plus milk, a load of biros as sick of never being able to find one, a couple of bday cards umm and some Arnica cream.

No other spends today planned

Wondered if we should post things that we have found to be a false economy? Mine is very boring but I have found that cheap washing up liquid is always a false economy!!

PlayingHouse · 23/07/2015 15:48

Aldi washing up liquid is very good.

avocadotoast · 23/07/2015 16:10

girliefriend cheap bin bags! Always a mistake. I also don't buy cheap loo roll (as I find you use more) or cheap tea or coffee (because they taste rank).

Also, weirdly, chickpeas. I tend to buy a higher brand just because they're much better quality than own brand.

Most other things I'm happy to buy own brand or value though.

Hi everyone!
I've been lurking on and off for the past 6 months, and think it's time I said hello! After the tightest few months we've ever had, it's time to face up to our finances and sort ourselves out. Debt is hardly nudging and we are consistently down to coppers for the week before payday. Got paid today and determined to make the most of it so we aren't scraping for milk and petrol by the end.

Went shopping today, spent €81, that will only do until Monday food wise, but we had run out of everything. Toilet paper, soap, toothpaste, shampoo, anything thcould be made into a meal was used. So had to do a bit of a restock. I shop on Mondays, so will start fresh with weekly budgets then, as it will be just food.

Agree with all the comments about aldi fruit and veg. Ours is ok if you are going to use it that day, or for the 29c super 6, but I generally don't buy in aldi. Only go for their gluten free bits!

girliefriend · 23/07/2015 17:15

Will have to try the Aldi/Lidl washing up liquid (e don't have a local Aldi only Lidls!)

Welcome Pink Smile

Have got a Banana and Chocolate cake in the oven, smells yum! Used up 3 very brown bananas so a frugal cake I reckon.

We are getting The Range opening up near us, is it good for bargains?

Welcome pink.

We use smart price liners but our bin is a 10ltr concealed jobby to make me empty if everyday. I buy cheap loo roll too, and sainsburys smart price tea.

Dhs never noticed the switch from pg tips 4 years ago and I'm not telling him now. I'm in too deep to mention it now.

Tescos are selling off ground and instant coffee, £3.50 down to 97p for clipper coffee for example. I've just bought a set of coffee syrups for £1.74! I've wanted some for ages.

Never tried the range.
