where has my post gone - stupid phone!

hi pink

The range is good as it has lots of things together , but not good for the purse. It is however not cheaper on everything. It is still worth shopping round

Peppapissinpig · 23/07/2015 18:40

Agree false economy on bin bags and coffee. Am also wondering about toothpaste - DH gets sweaty if we don't have Oral B pro expert but is there really any difference between expensive and cheaper brands?

Peppapissinpig · 23/07/2015 18:42

My approved food order has gone missing AngryAngryAngrySad I've just tracked it and apparently it was delivered 15 minutes ago and signed for by a name I don't know. We've been home the whole time and not seen any vans. The woman at UK Mail said they would call the depot and get them to contact the driver but didn't apologise or anything AngryAngryAngryAngry we live quite far from the main road and this is the only 'street' around here. So who knows where it's gone.

SpottyTeacakes · 23/07/2015 18:56

It just turned up. I'm so excited Grin

AdoraBell · 23/07/2015 19:00

Spotty pls tell us what they delivered, have been thinking about ordering once properly settled. DH went out for bread n fruit juice. Walked through the door with 6 bags plus a vacuum cleaner Hmm. Will update later.

Peppapissinpig · 23/07/2015 19:00

Had someone taken it in Spotty?

avocadotoast · 23/07/2015 19:06

Peppa, nah, no difference on toothpaste (I believe they're all manufactured in the same factory anyway!). The biggest thing you notice when switching toothpaste is the difference in taste.

peppa, we use lidl total toothpaste, it's got the recommended fluoride of 1450ppm. Plus it's not tested on animals. They do an aniseed one, it's called herbal but its aniseed.

adora only your dh could go out and come home with all of that. Be grateful he didn't go past a porsche dealership.

Excellent haul spotty.

£10 petrol
£7 tesco for coffee syrups, milk, samosas and beer. Am addicted to wheat beers.
£7 fish and chips.

My false economy is bras. I am waiting to buy a bra off bravissimo but I bought the bowl for the lounge yesterday so cant now but I felt so supported in it. I only have a small bust too so it must be so painful for women with large busts in the wrong bra. My john lewis bra bought in the sale is cheap crap by comparison.

Hi again I had pretty good day for bargains (if not terribly low spend)

If you like real coffee, Co op ( and Morrissons) have Taylors on offer for half price (£1.94) ..I stocked up on6 packets !! of Hot Java Lava. (dont drink instant, the only new years resolution I ever kept was to give it up)

Also I was a good frugal being as i noticed yesterday that Monsoon had further reduced their sale items so I took back the cullottes skirt I bought last week for £22.50 and swopped it for the same one but £9 cheoper.. ( felt a bit naughty ) . I had to get the £9 put on a gift card as it was over the 7day return date , but ill easily spend that later in the year (love Monsoon) ..

A cheeky frugal win!! i would have never done that before , but heck.. £9 is £9 ... Grin

£12 in sainsburys on 3 toothbrushes and toothpaste reduced, strawberries, peppermint tea , sainsburys magazine and (stupidly) courgettes ( stupid because i got home only to find ours have suddenly sprouted loads over night..DUH!!)

avocadotoast · 23/07/2015 22:36

Good work Laska! I took back some dungarees I bought from Topshop at the weekend... And swapped them for a denim jacket. I tried! But the jacket actually fits, unlike the one I have now that makes me look like a box.

Got DD a Grobag using a gift card in Mothercare and had the pleasant surprise of it being cheaper than expected at the till Smile

Also got myself a top in H&M but I am taking another one back to George so that balances out. I feel like all I do is faff about taking things back lately!

Work today then tonight it's someone's leaving meal. It's at an Indian and I've pre ordered should be about £8.

babsmam · 24/07/2015 07:02

Bought some jeans in sainsbury yesterday for 14. If we had some decent weather I wouldn't have needed to.
Need to go to primark today for socks and pants as no one has enough for two weeks

Hi spotty, about the network rail card, so does that give you 1/3 off fares even if you travel by yourself? And the same deal if you travel with f&f and kids??

needastrongone · 24/07/2015 07:48

NK Thanks for the foot link, going to Sorrento in September has pushed me into action...

Weather has become, er, a bit more mixed now the school holidays are here hasn't it babsmam?

laska My friend does the 'swap the item for sale price' all the time Smile

adora My DH is exactly the same, he's bought me flowers every day this week, which is lovely (especially as we are like ships that pass in the night at present), but not frugal!

Welcome pink

Well, my Abel and Cole delivery arrived yesterday and I do really like the quality of the goods provided. I bought a fruit box, medium veg box (there was lots in this) and a meat box. I also was sent a big cookbook too, which has some lovely recipes. Not as good value as the delivery I get from the market, but easier to plan as you know what is coming and not quite so overwhelming, as there's so much stuff sometimes from the market. I will stick with it for a month, then see if it still represents good value.

My observation with Aldi F&V is that it doesn't seem to last as long as other supermarket produce. The super 6 range is very good value in the main but sometimes the packets are not huge iyswim? Grapes were on offer, but the size of the pack wouldn't have done my teen DC more than a lunchtime snack.

It's also pay day hooray Smile Had a really good month, I am not sure why, I have checked and re-checked the banking for errors and mistakes or oversights on my part but there aren't any.

So I can put the usual amount into the university pot for the DC and get at least DS sorted for holiday clothes and a few small bits of uniform (he will be in year 11, I am not going wild).

I also didn't separate all my disposable income into 'pots' this month but had one running total, I don't know if this helped or not.
