Can't keep up with the weather! It pouring with rain here at the moment Confused

Just browsed the Boden sale but left before spending anything, dd does not need more clothes

Car is at the garage, really hoping its o.kay and just a straight forward service and mot

Walked back from the garage, stopped at Tescos en route and used my Orchard voucher to buy some fruit, spent £5.70 but got £3 off so only cost £2.70 pleased with that as got strawberries, satsumas and salad plus that includes the local paper!!

Having an otherwise lazy day, need to clean the bathroom in a min - rock n roll Wink

Peppapissinpig · 02/07/2015 13:40

Looking ominously stormy here Girlie.

Have just realised I pay my car insurance annually. Anyone know if it's possible to cancel a policy mid term and get a premium rebate?
.

Peppapissinpig · 02/07/2015 14:21

Bloody love this thread!

In one month I have so far

saved £100 on groceries,
Saved £250 in interest payments on carloan By borrowing money from DCs account,
,Been rebated £26 on car insurance after threat to leave
Saved £10 per month on pet insurance by switching.

Thank you thank you GrinGrinGrin

Well done peppa hard luck spotty would be a lot worse if you didn't have it in savings & had racked up debt!

I haven't left the house today, home on sick leave still managed to spend €100! €30 on shoes which will go perfectly with a dress I bought for upcoming wedding & €70 to plumber who serviced our solar panels & fixed a leaky valve on our hot tank, we thought this was a more expensive problem so good news really.

£7 on fitness in a bit although cba.

Mixed bag here, cloudy, sunny now going very dark.....

Dd terrified of thunder so I hope they get back before it starts

girliefriend · 02/07/2015 18:04

So MOT and service came to £275 which is good as less than I thought however the garage said it will need 2 new tyres soon.

574ejones · 02/07/2015 19:22

Can I join you again - need to get back to being more careful with money. Nice to see some friendly names on here still.

I don't do much shopping these days in Waitrose but it is worth looking at their 10 for 20% off - for example the cat litter I buy is loads cheaper on this. Just have to remember not to get sucked into buying anything else!

Welcome newcomers!
Just had to get a prescription today. Also found out the waiting list for physio is months so I'm considering going private if we can afford it. I can't bear the thought of spending my precious summer holiday miserable because I can't do much and DD will be totally fed up too. Any ideas how much a physio might cost per session?

A lot of physio is done at home, so they tell you which exercises to do and you go away and do them.

£23 on paint and masking tape.
Let's say £2 on beer because dh isn't back yet.

Welcome back jones

574ejones · 02/07/2015 20:17

It is a laborious search on Waitrose through the discounted items but for stuff you would genuinely buy elsewhere it is worth it. Unfortunately the Coffee pods aren't discounted. You do have to be a My Waitrose member (which is free).

Fluffycloudland77 · 02/07/2015 20:26

Peppa you've done brilliantly there.

Ipsos I really think you'd like Aldi/lidl. The quality is good on most things, better than Tesco. The stollen cake at Christmas is amazingly good. Each year I promise myself I won't stuff myself silly and get spots from all the sugar. Each year I fail miserably. Then they mark it all down after Christmas.

SpottyTeacakes · 02/07/2015 20:35

Pointless the one who comes to my work is £40 for a 30 minute session. And the most you'll be waiting is a week. Can usually get an appt same day.

AdoraBell · 02/07/2015 20:37

Just under £30 spent today. I remembered that I'd said DD2 could do her "birthday" tomorrow. Their birthday is a few weeks after we move and they'll have no friends nearby. I bought frozen burgers etc and a chocolate cake plus nibbles because I'm fairly sure some of the guests are staying over.

DH is en route, MIL has been discharged to avoid picking up hospital based infections while they decide whether to operate. They found a small tumor and need to remove a kidney. It's a question of if she's strong enough.

Will try to catch up later, too tired ATM.

Evilwater · 02/07/2015 20:47

Spend today,
Nans birthday present £17.50
DS, friend birthday present £24.
Parking £2.90
Sandwiches £5.30 :(

I'm trying to think of a treat day with DS, that cost little to nothing.
Any ideas?

JamHoneyMarmite · 02/07/2015 21:01

I've done the waitrose thing where you can choose which 10 items you want to have regularly discounted - it's not from their entire range, but it is reasonably broad, and I've managed to find things I would have bought anyway (free range eggs, a whole chicken, clipper tea...)

NSD yesterday because it was too hot to move at all. £3.88 today at the post office sending real letters to a few far-flung friends. Money well spent as a) they deserve it, and b) it means later on I will get actual nice mail to open in return Smile

Must must must remember to pay the balance of the nursery fees tomorrow. I transferred the amount in childcare vouchers, but I'm a doofus for forgetting to do the rest.

girliefriend · 02/07/2015 21:03

Evil oh my Goodness £24 on your sons friends present? You are really generous!! I put a £5 limit on all gifts for non family members!! In fact I spend less than that on my nephews Blush

Are you near a beach you could take your ds to with a picnic? I have joined a local wildlife watch group and they do lots of meet ups that are free or cost very little, is there anything like that in your area?

Fluffycloudland77 · 02/07/2015 21:05

What does he like doing? evil?

Pointlessfan · 02/07/2015 21:19

Thanks for physio advice, think I'm going to go private and hope I only need a couple of sessions. The other benefit is that you could get an appointment after work but before I have to collect DD from nursery.

Evilwater · 02/07/2015 21:29

Fluffy, anything outdoors, aquariums, zoos, soft play, the beach, and the moors.
I live in the deep SW the biggest city near me is Plymouth.

Girlie, he is DS best friend and sometimes we get free meals off her, so don't mind spending that bit more.

Fluffycloudland77 · 02/07/2015 21:31

Have you got a forestry centre? they dont cost much and if the library has a book on insects etc you are set for a nature trail with a prize at the end of it.
