Lovely trip to Cambridge for mooch around, didn't spend too much either

Jumper for DH from Joules; had an ancient gift card so only had to top it up wth £5

Refund from new Look for broken sunglasses - didn't even have receipt so that was a bonus promptly spent on coffee and muffin

£75 Levi's for DH reduced to £50 in sale Had another gift card for previous poor customer service so jeans were free!

Am sorry pleased, have been able to get done really nice things for DHs birthday without spending a fortune for once GrinGrin

Peppapissinpig · 19/06/2015 12:17

So pleased even ...

sportinguista · 19/06/2015 13:08

Hi NK the networking thing sounds good, I did try with a couple, one they had quotas for professions and had filled them for mine the other wanted £500 off me which I can't afford but I might try and see if there are other options. Today has not been so bad as talked to clients and am buckling down to work. I even sold a double glazing salesman who rang some design work (well he's going to recommend me to their marketing division) so not a bad day Grin!

£18 spent yesterday for socks for DH and £5 for 2 bras at Asda in sale, today has been NSD but need wine, coke and milk so will need to spend...hopefully can have a LSD tomorrow but have fathers day present to buy on behalf of DS.

girliefriend · 19/06/2015 15:52

Ooh have got my first Tesco Orchard vouchers! Only for £3 but still sadly excited!!

Pointlessfan · 19/06/2015 16:07

Had a disastrous online shop delivered yesterday. The substitutions were useless eg big bag of cooking apples instead of eating. A lot they'd just got wrong e.g. ordered 2 carrots and they brought a kilo bag. Makes me think the packer just couldn't be bothered to bag things. Rang a complained and they have refunded several items to be fair so I now have 1 kg carrots, 2kg roasting potatoes 1kg baking potatoes (I ordered one small bag of jerseys!), and a big bag of cooking apples. I may well be doing some baking this weekend! Annoyingly the freezer is full to overflowing so I can't cook stuff to freeze.
Been to Sainsburys to get the bits that weren't delivered at all and ended up buying a tunic dress - half price so only £6.
Spent just over £40 online and £18 in Sainsburys. Going charity-shopping in a posh area tomorrow, hoping to find some bargains!!
Happy weekend all!

Pointless.... Reminds me of the time Tesco delivered 1 cherry instead of 1kg!

Can you imagine a picker putting 1 cherry in a bag!!

Pointlessfan · 19/06/2015 17:56

Both of those are hilarious! Do they not have any common sense?! I suggested it was a training need when I phoned to complain. It wasn't Sainsburys in this case it was Asda.

AuditAngel · 19/06/2015 19:18

NSD, but need to do a Tesco click and collect for the morning. We'll be out all day tomorrow and then McDonalds for a late dinner.

Lol at the substitutions, especially the single cherry Grin

I have never used Asda again, after their shameful New Years Eve delivery. Think 50 people coming to our party. Think them specifically advertising a New Year menu. Think substitutions like instead of double chocolate fudge cake, apple crumble!! Think ordering plastic champagne flutes and none being delivered. Was a nightmare Sad

My food cupboards are groaning as we have friends over tomorrow. Spent £10 in M&S as shop came to £30 and I only had £20 vouchers. £60 diesel. £60 Morrisons delivery. £12 on burgers and sausages, bacon from the farm shop.

Skint until pay day next week now.

ipsos I don't think we'd ever get over that, especially DH. Xmas dinner is the highlight of his year, he starts talking about it in August!!

CremeEggThief · 19/06/2015 20:14

Grin at some of these bizarre substitutions. I once had a loaf of bread for a tube of toothpaste from Tesco Confused Confused Confused.

£4.70 on two mochas for my friend and I in a cafe, after she treated us to a pub lunch. That's twice this week I've been treated by a friend! Smile

Hope everyone has a lovely, frugal weekend.

I've heard good things about buying glasses online, maybe start a new thread?

My shopping just arrived with a weird substitution - having a little party for DS tomorrow. Bought a few party bits with the food order, I'm going to get them to make ice cream sundaes so got some colourful sprinkles. Nope. Swapped for coffee beans Confused

Thanks for welcoming me to the thread.
As for the insulation I have no idea!
Last year I claimed the warm house discount, that was amazing. I could breath in winter.

Water discount?? I live in SW.

My DS is 2.5 I'm starting to spend lots of time at the park. I don't have anything to sell, i ran from ex as he was EA. Pretty much every thing I have has been given to me.

I'm not in credit for the other bills, and I already meal plan. But I could improve.

Work said I could pick up some more shifts, but it would be random and on a 0 contract (agency)

babsmam · 20/06/2015 07:15

£4 for beavers, £40 in morrisons and got £10 back to use next time in points.

Would a water meter help evil?

blueteapot · 20/06/2015 07:20

Morning all! Dh is working all weekend and through to next Thurs. He's off in the new car today so fingers crossed for high mpg on the motorway! It's mummy hour... DS still in bed, DD has had her feed and is snuggled up on DHs side of our bed, I'm having toast and a cup of tea to have in peace :D

Succumbed to the 12 off 80 tesco evoucher as there were complaints about cupboard levels... used their 4 off 20 on cleaning stuff too so paid 64 in the end and the cupboards are bursting. Should have just faced them off like a shop ;)

Aim today is to try and get some gardening done (as much As DD and DS will allow!). Nearly there with weeding one of the big rockery beds. I then need to research which weedkiller to put on it, all ideas welcome!

Found a few nice plant pots in the rubble in the top garden so will try and rescue those and plant a few nice flowers in them :)

Next door have cleared a load of their trees down our adjoining boundary which has reduced my workload significantly and increased the light to the top garden an incredible amount, so really pleased about it :) the fence up there is only a wire arrangement though so will need to have a think about fencing it properly for privacy reasons.

people with eye issues do not go to boots - had 2 pairs of glasses from there both were terrible. I liked specsavers. You could also get the prescription and order glasses ffrom one of the online sites maybe?

Cant rememeber who mentioned it upthread but gluts of bananas can be frozen for future banana breading etc :)

blue I am having some MN time before starting the day, so still in bed. Usually up, dressed, dogs walked, kids sorted by now. I am having a coffee in bed! I remember the peace of a few quiet moments when the DC were tiny too, bliss.

I am also happy with Specsavers in terms of service and quality, but I do need to shop around as I fear I am overpaying.

It was me that mentioned bananas blue, I do freeze them too. Currently using them for the Nutribullet, as they add a lovely creamy texture.

evil It sounds like girlie is most similar to your circumstances, so might be the best placed to see how she manages.

ipsos I am Grin at your persil! Sometimes, they can be the best times though can't they, when things go wrong?

I do not need food next week, apart from Milk. I have worked out we have £50 until next Thursday, unless I dip into dividend money or savings. Keep me strong ladies!

My meal planning will be easy. I have the following planned.

Smoked mackerel and leek risotto.
El Paso type meal as I bought a couple of their packets on offer.
Frittata, chucky potato wedges.
Butternut squash and chickpea curry.
Brinner.

Plus a meal or two from all the leftovers from this weekend.

I have so much food in the house, as we are having guests. I have gotten used to so much less stuff available!

Unescorted · 20/06/2015 07:37

Morning All... been a busy expensive week. It always is just after payday.

Evil welcome.

I have specsavers glasses - not exciting, but free with my contact lenses (?10 / month). I get a free pair every year.

Blue I got between 55 and 110 mpg in my new (did I mention that I have a new car Blush) car. They were business miles so am running at a profit. the 110 was on the motorway tucked up behind a lorry.
