Sporting Shock what a bizarre and horrible thing to happen. Where on earth does an 11yo get that idea from?! really glad your DS is okay.

The money for car is reasonable I think. It covers 5 different parts in several different places so a big job. DH suggested he have a go himself but we haven't got the right kit to get under the car etc. it's a shame we don't live near family because we probably could have a try with experienced and well equipped relatives to help but I wouldn't want to try it by ourselves!

makeawish2 · 27/05/2015 14:48

Italian ...so sorry for your friends.. Just impossible to contemplate the pain they and you are suffering Flowers.

sportinguista · 27/05/2015 15:51

Thanks, unfortunately the area we live in is not great, but still nothing like this has ever happened before. DS is only 5 so takes things at face value still, if it was an adult he'd probably have been more wary. Still I am confident that we will be able to turn them in and get them spoken to.

italian so sorry for your friends I cannot imagine their feelings despite coming close to that horror myself yesterday...Flowers

ItalianWiking84 · 27/05/2015 16:29

Thanks all
Just home again after a horrible day... The funeral was lovely if you can say that, lots of beautiful flowers and lots of ppl attending including his chief surgeon which I think was a nice thing of him... There were even a bucket from the hospital ward
But absolutely full of tears and seeing that small coffin really kill something in me.... So nice day in terms of seeing how many cared for him but an incredible sad day also
The priest did whatever she could in holding a beautiful speech but yeah sadness is full in me
It's dds birthday Friday so have tomorrow and then I need to also focus a bit on her

Peppapissinpig · 27/05/2015 16:57

Italian....can't imagine how moving that must have been for everyone. My thoughts are with the family

Passthecake30 · 27/05/2015 17:49

sporting omg I would be fuming. Is your ds old enough to know not to do it again? Not that it excuses anything. ...but then you can at least let him out.

£2 on junk food. Boring day at work.

FlowersItalian, I've been to 2 baby funerals (nephews) and the little coffins are heartbreaking.

Peppapissinpig · 27/05/2015 17:58

Just managed to rip car tyre on metal edging round our lawn..... That'll be £50 down the drain Confused

sportinguista · 27/05/2015 18:57

Yes he is very clear now on not accepting anything from anybody whatever their age now, we have said to him not to speak to the kids in question and to call me and I will call the police. They can't hide forever!

God, italian that made me well up properly. It makes me so sad, a life ended before its proper timeSad.

babsmam · 27/05/2015 19:36

Bless you Italian and your friends x

Laska42 · 27/05/2015 20:10

oh.. here you all are hiding .. Grin

sport Shock so glad DS is ok ..lets hope they kids and parents get a good fright from the police.
italian thougts on your horrible day and for the poor babys parents also ..

nothing much to report here... all spends today out of my 'cash' account . £20.03 petrol (I can never get it to stop on the £.00 !)
9.73 in B&Q for compost and bug spray
£2.98 inthe Co op ( i think i must own the co op by now.. we do have a Lidl and an Aldi here.. , but i just tend to go to the co op.. .)

So that leaves just £4.45 in purse to last until Friday..Have DGS (2) here for the weekend tomorrow night (so looking forward to it) so I might not have time to post again until Sunday ..

NK5BM3 · 27/05/2015 20:38

Thanks for new thread! Sporting how appalling! Glad he's ok now,

Checking in. NSD. Stressful day as had a mock accreditation event...in prep for the real one in a month. We think it didn't go as badly as expected. But more to do...

babsmam · 28/05/2015 06:19

Sporting that's awful for you. Pleased it was a good ending.
Who knows about today. Maybe aldi maybe not.

Sorry haven't caught up. Spent about £30 yesterday not too bad I don't think.

Today just £4 for hospital parking getting my pump properly set up!

Unescorted · 28/05/2015 07:22

DD & I are going for a not so spendy spendy day in Manchester looking around galleries. I know we will find something to spend money on....

sporting Little shits. Can't say much else other than that. The consequences could have been terrible. I am glad they were not.

collie I think Sainsburys are extortionate for shopping. I think I would rather get a few really yummy bits from M&S!

italian I understand what you mean regarding the funeral, it must have been horrible but 'lovely' at the same time. Take care.

Yesterday was going to be a NSD, but I was passing the feed shop so I used the opportunity to get some feed rather than drive there next week. I also bought some strawberry plants.

Today I am treating DS and friend to a cinema trip. DD gets a lot spent on her for the pony, so I don't mind. It's half term and DS has cost me nothing so far.

Might be lazy and get burgers out for tea, to have with salad and home made wedges.

Peppapissinpig · 28/05/2015 09:21

So new tyre aside??, planning for today to be a NSD.

AuditAngel · 28/05/2015 10:33

Hello everyone. I am still on holiday, we're having a great time.

Monday I spent £30 buying rolls for the journey, stocking up on ice lollies (all on special offer) and some bits for a BBQ.

Tuesday £34 on diesel plus 4 small bottles of water about £3 fir the car journey.

We booked a massage for me, 3 activities each for the older DC plus one for DD2, €96 which I thought was really good, but I did pick carefully. This morning they have been white water rafting. Unfortunately DS trapped his thumb and already has a black bruise under his thumbnail.

We did a stop at Lidl near the Centerparcs (€96 ish), plus a stop at Carrefour for the last 3 things.

We ate out last night €135 after a pasta lunch, and are having a BBQ today with mainly things we brought with us. Perhaps take away pizza tonight?

Since we have been here we have been using mainly our € bank account, so I haven't really spent anything since Tuesday morning.

Italian I'm glad that there were nice parts yesterday, try to focus on those.

Just posting and running as at work.

Aldi voucher today, no £5 voucher but 10 of the 30-50% off vouchers mostly for their baby stuff. If it helps anyone it's in the mirror paper

bantamgirl · 28/05/2015 14:09

Hello all, I've been lurking but not posting.

Anyhoo. I need to come back, I have still been updating my spreadsheets and tracking internet banking but something has happened that has made me realise I need to stop seeing my credit card as a safety net and need to get some savings.

Really I need to start paying my credit cards down but firstly I want a safety net of £1000 and I need to start paying for Christmas anyway. I know it's stupid to save up whilst you have CC debt but I'm scared of being left with no ready money. I also need to start putting away for Christmas too - here we are nearly half way through the year and I've done nowt.

I had a letter from one of my credit card companies on Saturday to say they were increasing my interest rate from 12.95% to 17.9% which shocked me a bit that they would do this. The excuse they gave was that I had gone over my limit (once by mistake and paid straight back!). Unfortunately it's quite a large balance and I can't afford to pay it off in one go or have any cards with enough space to BT it so I rang them and told them to cancel the card and keep it at 12.95%.

Then this morning I had another letter from another credit card (a slightly smaller balance) to say they were putting it up from the standard 16.9% to 21.9%! I have had this credit card for ages and this is the first time something like this has happened so I reckon somehow my credit score has leapt up to "very very bad". So I've done a 0%-for-20-months balance transfer to an empty card. This is the card that I use for 'emergencies' or when I run out of money near the end of the month

Stuff keeps going wrong with the house on a monthly basis that I never budget for! So far this week my shower broke so I bought a new one for £50 (in the sale) and I've had to pay a sparky £40 to put it in. Then my neighbour came around to drop subtle hints about my Leylandii hedges being out of control (they are) and he's going to get someone to come and do his sides at the weekend so do I want them to do mine at the same time - this will cost up to £80 (which is cheap). Also the same neighbour replaced two fence panels that DS2 and his mates had knackered by booting footballs at it so I had to pay for those replacing at £38. I only have just short of £450 "everything else" money each month - so you can see the need for me to have an emergency house / car fund.

On the other hand I hope to have a petrol / grocery underspend so just need to spend the next couple of weeks not spending on sweets, takeaways and extra food and I should be okay - unforeseeable expenses excluded. So, from this month - any underspend will go into the savings account and once I have £1k put away (to add to the remainder of what is leftover from DH's bonus), I will start tackling my CC's.

So, if no one minds - I'll go back to posting dailies....

I'm sure no one minded before Bantam. Dhs says everything we want to do to this house is a £1000!. Houses are more expensive than you think.

£10.50 Abercrombie and Fitch hoodie on eBay.

Cars in for recon work before it goes back. I was so bored being in I cleaned two bathrooms. With a toothbrush and vinegar, über bored.

needastrongone · 28/05/2015 16:22

Hi Bantam. Lovely to have you back. Sorry that you are in a pickle.

Are there any other 0% deals around that you are eligible for?

Might sound mean but I would make my DS pay for the panels. I honestly would. His actions, his consequences.

We are all here to support you anyway.

babsmam · 28/05/2015 16:33

Hi bantam. Don't mind the updates at all. That's a bit off of the card companies.
