And my job this week is to go and get a stash of cards from the Card Factory.

clippityclop · 17/01/2015 19:20

Good idea about the cards. Got bags of choc coins today in M&S for 25p to make chocolate chip cookies with dds for lunch boxes. Roast beef tomorrow, already looking forward to making curry, soup and chow mein to freeze.

SpottyTeacakes · 17/01/2015 19:21

Clippity you've just reminded me to get the sausages out of the freezer thanks!

Encyclo · 17/01/2015 19:36

Evening everyone :). I had a total result today.

Went to local DIY store to get my bucket for laundry gloop, (€1.99), was putting it in the boot of my car, when I noticed some really grubby paper on the ground under the wheel of the car. I looked again and it was €50 note. A really muddy one, but a real one! Total score!

I did look round halfheartedly in case someone was looking for it, but it had clearly been there a while.

If I hadn't been making the gloop, I would never have found it :)

vinegarandbrownpaper · 17/01/2015 19:38

Universe reward! :)

Encyclo · 17/01/2015 19:43

I think so too vinegar Grin

SpottyTeacakes · 17/01/2015 19:45

Amazing!

Encyclo · 17/01/2015 19:51

Just finished making the gloop and it smells amazing! I used dove cucumber and green tea soap as that was what I had in the house. It's cooling now.

How long does it take to set does anyone know?

Encyclo · 17/01/2015 20:16

needs my Dh has a bit of a 'Pollyanna' attitude to our financial situation to say the least. It's a constant cycle reinforcement!

Fluffycloudland77 · 17/01/2015 20:35

Gloop takes a few hours to set, it separates out slightly after setting but it doesn't affect the quality.

Big shop today. Spent ages at Sainsbury's price-checking, brand-switching, etc. and spent £85 buying stock cupboard essentials (loads of stuff for baking, and freezer stuff) and it included a pair of hefty roasting/baking tins that were on my Xmas list (tragic) and were reduced to £10.

You probably know this already but the "special offers" are so bogus. For example, there was a "deal" on buying 2 x rolls of 20 black bin liners, but that was still more expensive than buying the normal priced roll of 40 black bin liners. It's just mean.

On the plus side, knocked up a mincemeat and orange traybake with DS this evening to use up the jar from Christmas and to take to lunch with family tomorrow and my house smells lush now.

NK5BM3 · 17/01/2015 20:42

Amazing!! Pray tell what is this gloop? Do you wash clothes with it? Where do you put it (drawer or in the main)?

Encyclo · 17/01/2015 20:58

Thanks fluffy Grin

NK it's a homemade washing detergent. There's a recipe upthread. It goes in the drum, I'm a rookie and just made my first batch. Very exciting!

Encyclo · 17/01/2015 21:02

missy I can't believe the neck of some supermarkets and their 'offers'. Plus the bottom shelf is always loads cheaper than the eye level shelf Hmm

VikingLady · 17/01/2015 21:13

I think I need to buy some cheap but nice essential oils for my next batch of gloop Smile

DH won't cancel the TV package after all. He's happy to keep paying a fortune every month because he likes Storage Hunters and can't find it free online. Seriously? I'm working on it.....

And I just realised it is DH's 40th birthday next month - what on eath do I buy him for very little money?! Shock

CremeEggThief · 17/01/2015 22:34

I collected my tablet and printer todaySmile. Soo much better coming on here on my new toy than it was on my very slow phone! So, today's spends were £7.70 bus fare, £1.50 on a book in a charity shop (that I have fancied reading for a couple of years), £7.05 lunch and £2.40 on a hot chocolate. In total, £18.20.

RobinEllacott · 17/01/2015 23:19

£65 on supermarket shop this morning, plus £54 on lunch out for the three of us. All a bit of a disaster as DD was tired and whingy, so we spent the money on not having much fun. Kicking myself.

NK, Thanks. It's a shock, isn't it?

lilacclery · 18/01/2015 07:04

Wow encyclo that was fair lucky!
Any plans for it?
Let us know how gloop goes. Ds's skin was sensitive so we just use fairy but always get the huge boxes on special so maybe 3 boxes per year so not a huge expense

SpottyTeacakes · 18/01/2015 07:10

Right will definitely be a nsd today Blush I also spent £14.99 on a new loo seat yesterday.

We're having sausage casserole today. I'm just going to make it up and hope it turns out ok (which is my usual style!) have a ton of washing to do too. Bacon sandwiches for breakfast...

Pointlessfan · 18/01/2015 07:42

I allowed DH to do the weekly shop yesterday with a list I had written by category and annotated (e.g. get the tinned tomatoes 3 for £1). Off he went to Asda. At 4pm we went to Sainsburys for things Asda "didn't have" (meat, cat litter!) and at 6pm he was sent back for a major ingredient of our meal that he forgot. It ended up quite an expensive shop!

clippityclop · 18/01/2015 07:44

SpottyT never made sausage casserole in my life, tips please?Flowers.
Nsd on the cards here too, and tomorrow with luck.

SpottyTeacakes · 18/01/2015 07:55

Oh no pointless!

Clippity having had a browse I think I'll do this one minus the wine. Sometimes I'll do it in a tomato based sauce, like this, and sometimes I'll do it in a gravy based sauce with whole grain mustard etc. It's quite forgiving not much can go wrong really.

SpottyTeacakes · 18/01/2015 09:31

Dd has grown out of her school dressed and £55 school shoes (which she's had 3 months). Not sure what to do. Should have bought that toilet seat.

Fluffycloudland77 · 18/01/2015 09:56

The shoes are essential really. Can you get her measured & then buy online?.

OP posts:
SpottyTeacakes · 18/01/2015 10:07

That's what I did last time. The only ones that fitted her were the kickers boots, I must have bought about four different styles. She has some foot issues and all these flimsy Mary Jane styles are no good because a, they slip straight off her heel and be they give no support. It's very stressful but she's seeing her physio Wednesday and there's a chance I might be able to get some on the nhs.
