Oh yeah it's ds' birthday end of the month and my brothers them dp's in December and my mum, sister and best friend in jan Shock can't cope

needastrongone · 01/11/2014 17:49

Checking in.

Having to buy for adults is a PITA isn't it? It's slightly complicated in our family but essentially we buy for the kids only, with a few exceptions.

Thankfully, my DC are by far the youngest and all my nephews and nieces are over 21 but there are nearly 20 of them all told, and I found it hard at times to buy stuff for them all.

LSD today, pony training and then we have a quiz to go to later. I have a rare hangover so won't have a drink.

NK5BM3 · 01/11/2014 18:44

I'm in thanks MissA! Hope you feeling ok...

Spent £45 at Aldi. Won 2 free sessions at the local trampolining place so brought the kids there this morning. Good way to expend energy I guess.

Everyone's always welcome here Smile

NSD.

FantaSea · 01/11/2014 20:25

collie welcome Smile I haven't done any Christmas shopping yet either!

Christmas seems to come round so often, I think I could cope better and be more organised if it was every other year...Grin

girliefriend · 01/11/2014 21:20

Hello everyone

Been out tonight to a bonfire and fireworks display, was quite spendy in the end £7 for me and dd to get in £4 on hot choc each and £3 on chips and a hot dog each (we got them right at the end of the evening when they were selling them off cheap so a slight frugal save.)

fuzzpig · 01/11/2014 21:29

Spendy day!

£152 quarterly bus pass for DSD to get to college
1.99 charity shop board game - Blush (and DH was Hmm) as we've just got rid of loads and generally DCs have outgrown the Orchard Toys range, but this particular one is mathsy and the confidence boost for DD when she was getting them right ("Mummy I ROCK! I am SOOOO awesome at maths now!" :o) was totally worth it!
£2 felt poppies for the DCs - much nicer than paper ones, in independent fabric shop.
£1.99 PVA glue as we've used up ours on a family craft project
£5.50 DVDs (but that comes out of my £20 "pocket money" so already accounted for)
15p printing (but that's for the Bella Italia free brunch product test so don't begrudge it :o)
£2 DD pocket money as I forgot yesterday.

So that's £165.63. OUCH. However mum passed on £100 from my grandma for my birthday and our Xmas presents. And mum insisted on giving me £20 in lieu of a souvenir from her holiday Confused so all in all not a bad day :o

Must be very sensible with Xmas money - £20 each so going to have a good think about how best to use it.

PeoniesforMissAnnersley · 01/11/2014 21:33

NSD today, DH bought me a peppermint tea earlier, I was feeling better and we went to the garden centre. Sadly symptoms have come back with a vengeance in the last hour or so, feeling very poorly again. Sad

Just have to wait to hear re. referral for MRI, should hear on Monday. Also will be referred this week hopefully to a gastroenterologist who will advise me.
In the meantime hoping to be well enough to work Confused as already had 3.5 weeks off this term and was really hoping not to have any more time off.

Spent £63. That included a 2 kilo chunk of steak, used two thirds of 50% today, and a kilo of trout, half a kilo of cheddar plus a small Brie and a Philadelphia, among other things.

DH has been missing bread so I got DD1 to take him to the gluten free aisle. He decided not to spend £5.50 on a medium loaf of bread.

FantaSea · 01/11/2014 22:26

MissA sorry to hear that you feel so poorly, you must be exhausted. I do hope you will feel better very soon Flowers

needastrongone · 01/11/2014 23:39

Oh dear MissA. That's crap you feeling so bad. You are private I recall? Hopefully they can investigate quickly.

Been at a quiz night but didn't drink. DH had a few small bottles of beer I think but not many, it was a scout fundraiser so cheap anyway.

Have meal planned for the week which I will post tomorrow.

SpottyTeacakes · 02/11/2014 05:38

MissA Thanks

I got a £10 voucher from tesco following my complaint.

Today I'm staying home but dp is going for final suit fitting and I've asked him to get us a new loo seat as homebase have their 15% off.

Iamnotanugget · 02/11/2014 07:12

spotty we don't buy for adults generally as anything they want they can afford to buy for themselves so it seems silly buying them a token gift they neither want nor need. I do sporadically buy for my parents if I see something I think they'll appreciate. This year I'm getting dm a mug, it's £12 which is a lot for a cup bit she'll love it. Won't be getting pil or df anything.

Every year me and dsis get each other something but the budget is £1! We love it though as you have to be creative and it's the only 'surprise' present we get. Also because it's so cheap no one is offended if it 'breaks' and is never seen again.

Going out for free Bella Italia breakfast this morning and then catching up on homework and ironing ready for back to school tomorrow so should be nsd. Smile

CoolCadbury · 02/11/2014 08:44

Thanks for starting the new thread missa and sorry to hear you are feeling so poorly. Flowers

italian is that your great grandma you are visiting? With your little one, that's 5 generations. Wonderful!

£20 on new baby gift and £3 on entry to firework display.

lilacclery · 02/11/2014 10:19

Will tally yesterday's spends in a while.
two savings from pricing around.
Tesco Brita jug €23 purchased for €15 in homestore & more
clippasafe baby safety kit €17.99 in mothercare purchased for €14.99 in smyths.
sold three cloth nappies €14 so that almost covered lunch out for me & the kids

Imeldainthemustardcoat · 02/11/2014 10:43

NSD, not going out so that I cannot spend anything :)
making homemade burgers and staying in with kids watching a movie instead.....

fuzzpig · 02/11/2014 11:08

Horrible weather here, staying in and doing housework, homework and doing fun stuff like games and craft with the DCs :)

I may mentally spend my money though! I'll leave all the money from my grandma for Xmas (will put the £20 for my December birthday towards a family game for Xmas - probably ticket to ride - as that's what I really want anyway) but the extra from my mum yesterday is burning a hole in my pocket :o tempted to have a proper sort through my wishlists on amazon and properly decide what else we are getting for Xmas.

fuzzpig · 02/11/2014 11:14

Oh hang on it's still not an NSD - £65.71 Tesco delivery. Really hoping we've planned well enough to get through the week and do all the bulk cooking etc - although I forgot to get drinks cartons for DD's lunchbox (the only time she gets juice and I buy the diluted ones! Water never gets drunk even though she has loads at home) so I'll need to get some before Thursday Angry

Badvoc123 · 02/11/2014 11:17

Lots of housework done whilst Dh and ds1 are at the football.
Just need to iron the uniforms for tomorrow now.
Then get dinner.
I will post my spends at the co op...it might shame me into not buying as much :)

Badvoc123 · 02/11/2014 11:18

Missa....really hope they get to the bottom of your pain x

SpottyTeacakes · 02/11/2014 11:21

The toilet seat we have is half price in homebase so extra bargainous. Dp said they'd sold out but online it said they had 21 in stock so I'm making him go back Hmm

fuzzpig · 02/11/2014 12:25

How are you feeling this morning missA? Thanks

PeoniesforMissAnnersley · 02/11/2014 12:45

badvoc, fluffy thanks, I actually got some sleep last night so feeling a bit better just from that. Only have 2 days worth of tramadol left so will need to try and get more from GP tomorrow without looking like a junkie Confused
Won't be eating anything today until after parents evening at work, can't afford the risk.

Badvoc123 · 02/11/2014 12:50

So...spent £21 in the co op on a chicken, Yorkshires, veg and potatoes for lunch.
Also some frozen chips, cola for me and some soup and beans.
Amazing how much it all costs isn't it? :(
Hopefully that should be it now apart from maybe bread later in the week.
