Hello All,
I've taken the liberty (again!) of starting our new thread for August. The merrily sort of ties in with Christmas and keeping an eye on any bargains out there, if you're super organised and like planning ahead.

Today's spends were £5.10 on travel, £1.20 on 2 bottles of water, £4.20 on 2 hot chocolates and £17.25 on a meal out (long story!).

NSD! Well chuffed with that considering we're on holiday Smile we went to the beach with snacks, came home for a late lunch followed by playing in the garden and I just stretched last- night's pasta by bunging it into a frittata.

The rain has started here...batten down the hatches!

Shock at Ohhelp. They'll have to do some serious grovelling (i.e. lots of freebies) to make that up to you!

NSD again, as a lovely friend treated me to a glass of wine and some crisps, after our walk.

Email the CEO, that's where you get results.

I wouldn't bother with customer services tbh.

CremeEggThief · 09/08/2014 23:24

Ohhelp, I'd bring it back and email the CEO too!

Have just spent the last hour (up early as still can't sleep in the new house!) opening those cinema chocolate packs to get the code and putting them back in! Now feel slightly sick from the smell, but on the plus side we're all going to the pics later for just short of £15, and we won't have to buy sweets Grin. "All" this week is me and dh, dd, dsd1, dsd2 & dsd1's friend who is staying so needed the free tickets!
Yesterday was huge shopping trip £90 in Asda to cater for us all as dsd1 & his friend are teenagers so have hollow legs!
Definitely complain about the pork straight to the ceo ohhelp, can you imagine if you'd tried to eat them, you could have been really poorly

SpottyTeacakes · 10/08/2014 07:57

Nearly a month out of date Shock do supermarkets have people whose job it is to check dates?

Going to my mums for a roast today (yum!) so should be nsd.

needastrongone · 10/08/2014 08:24

Eurgh re the out of date ribs, they are usually so ridiculously the other way!!

Have teenagers myself, the food bill is massive. I do have the cookbook A Girl Called Jack, which I really like and I use for ideas, but she's feeding herself and a small boy, not basically 4 adults Smile

NSD yesterday so good.

Friday was a spend day though. £122 online delivery at Morrisons (sad teenagers and friends coming over for a BBQ yesterday), £60 at M&S (including £50 cashback) and £24 of the cashback on takeaway pizza. The latter was an indulgence, but our garage flooded at 4pm Friday, absolutely swimming, 3 inches deep the whole area so DH, myself and lovely neighbours were bailing out for best part of 2 hours. I couldn't be bothered cooking after then.

Friends coming over this afternoon but they are bringing desert and I am going to do a chilli, as it's very impromptu. I have most ingredients in.

The cinema trip would have been VERY costly without the vouchers!!!

misstiredbuthappy · 10/08/2014 10:06

Thanks spottyteacaked of to aldi when I can be botherd to face the rain Grin

Fluffycloudland77 · 10/08/2014 10:26

Dh has suggested putting the heating on. In August.

Sometimes it's like he doesn't know me at all Sad

misstiredbuthappy · 10/08/2014 10:54

It is cold. Weve got our chunky dressing gowns on all cosey. The skys black here.

spent £3.50 already booked to take dd to see post man pat at the cinema Kids AM though so we are saving still.

Looks like its going to be another rainy day.

CremeEggThief · 10/08/2014 11:30

Will he ever learn, fluffy?!

OP posts:
PeoniesforMissAnnersley · 10/08/2014 12:13

fluffy is it cold where you are? it's boiling here.

I've cancelled our veg box for the rest of the summer to see if we can do it cheaper with buying specific fruit and veg. Off to Aldi in a bit.

I've been sick again this weekend so cracked and rang my work health insurance and they're making me an appointment with a colo-rectal surgeon consultant within the next 2 weeks. It will almost certainly mean a colonoscopy but hopefully she/he will work out what is actually wrong istead of just packing me home stuffed full of painkillers.

SpottyTeacakes · 10/08/2014 12:19

It's 17 degrees here. Brrr Wink

Fluffycloudland77 · 10/08/2014 12:20

It's about 15c. I'm wearing a thermal top. We've lived in much colder houses than this so I'm not budging or above turning off the central heating controller in the cupboard.

He's got loads of thermal tops.

Sounds like a plan missa, there's no point having cover but not using it & struggling on. Operations are rarely as bad as you think and you get a pack of biscuits when you come round and a heated blanket.

needastrongone · 10/08/2014 14:16

Yep, it's wet but warm here too (and I am the coldest person in the world).

I am finding our veg box is saving me loads, so it will be interesting to see if you gain savings peonies.

I popped to Sainsbury's for a few bits for this afternoon, and some beer, and decided to stock up on spare cards for birthdays and occasions that I forget.

Decided to take my Nector card. I got very cross with all my loyalty cards about 18 months ago, always pullling these out of my purse and never the credit/debit card that I needed, so I took them all out of my bag and left them at home.

So, had no idea how many points were on the card. Turns out... LOADs, my shop for £45 cost me 98p! I know that realistically I have spent all this money to accumulate the points, but I had forgotten, so it felt free Smile Another £10 left on too and DH on board by applying for a Tesco Clubcard.

Makingchanges · 10/08/2014 14:21

health insurance sounds like a very good idea. lsd here today. managed to only spend £34 for weekly shop in Morris ons yesterday including fruit and veg voucher so taking advantage of poor weather and national lazy day to have a mini lie - in cooked breakfast and a roast dinner. dh and dd popped to shop for some ice cream to go with brownies we are making and some cat food and the rest of the day is going to consist of watching films and having a family day (although Dh seems to think he's going to spend it snoring on the settee)

CremeEggThief · 10/08/2014 15:12

Gosh, hope it all goes well, MissA. I think that first step you've just made is the hardest.

£3.49 in Lidl, on milk, juice, cake and a nice bread roll to have with my soup for supper later. Going to do some eBaying now (yawn!), as it's a rainy day and I'm broke.

OP posts:
NK5BM3 · 10/08/2014 15:25

Hi missA, I've had a couple of colonoscopies done previously as mum passed away quite early of colon cancer. They are painless. The faffing is the day before when you need to clean yourself out. The stuff they make you drink is vile!!!!

So far NSD! Woohoo! Thanks to the really heavy rain earlier on. It's sunny now, but vv windy.

Off to France tomorrow for 5 days...

SpottyTeacakes · 10/08/2014 15:48

Have fun NK!

Nsd for us.

FantaSea · 10/08/2014 18:18

Hello everyone Smile , I'm signing in rather late for August. I have had a week at my mother's at the end of July (no internet arrrgh) and now I'm back I am trying to return to being frugal.

Fluffy sorry you are cold. I am boiling even though it keeps raining, but some of my heating is down to my age. I am always boiling hot Grin

NK hope you have a lovely holiday Smile

NSD today, first one in ages.
