How much is your monthly gas/elec direct debit?

We've just had a letter from EON confirming our direct debit is going up to £107 per month. It's been a good five years since I compared providers, so I will have a look, but I just wondered what other people were paying these days?

We're in a good sized 3 bed mid terrace with gas central heating.

sounds cheap! Mine has gone up to £145 combined gas /electric. 4 bed detached house in scotland.

Think its £103 with Scottish Power, 1930s 3 bed semi. We don't watch our useage closely at the moment.

One bedroom flat £14 a month (electric only, no gas here).

2 bed flat. £92 per month gas and electric duel fuel

2 bed mid terrace, £50, and everything is electric. It was £80 and they lowered it, although I still haven't given them exact meter readings.

We've been with our provider for 10 yrs but I do comparisons every year and they've always been good. Our fixed rate is about to finish and been looking again, to refix for 2 years is going to increase my monthly payments to about £155 up from £122 but can't find anything significantly cheaper. I'm not thrilled to say the least but hoping £155 gas and elec for a 4 bed detached in Cambridgeshire is about normal. I dont think we're massively wasteful but heating was on lots till recently and we have a tumble drier and dishwasher that are used a lot.

We've just had a letter from edf saying ours is going up from £100 per month to £500 per month. Am in total shock. For the Winter period, 6 months elec. was £613, and 6 months' gas was £1218.57. We moved into this house in October, and although bigger, draughtier etc, cannot understand why the huge change in energy consumption. At a loss. We're investigating basic things like fitting energy saving lightbulbs, but it all feels a bit futile atm.

happy maybe you should double check your latest bills and query with them why such thebig change if your bills don'treflect you needing your DD to be putup so much

Mine went from about £100 to £140 last year, they're now saying I will owe them at that rate and should increase monthly payments to £190

I'm in a 4 bed detached with 3 DCs using TVs/chargers etc a lot, but heating is only on in winter and I don't cook as much as I should so don't know why its so ridiculously high.

4 bed house - £150 a month. Made up of £50 electric and £100 gas but we have a shitty old boiler which we are going to replace so I'm hoping that brings the gas cost down a wee bit.

£234 per month - dual fuel. Four bedroom house, It went up from £176 per month last month, but is reviewed every three months, so will probably drop again.

Happy nappies, even if your summer consumption was the same as your winter consumption, you bill would be £3k a year, therefore £250 amonth, not £500. I think your supplier might be having a laugh

5 bed house. Just moved at the start of the year so not entirely sure how this will pan out over a year but £350-400 a month. First Utility. Ouch.

3 bed end of terrace, £110 a month, dual fuel with Scottish Power.

3 Bed purpose built flat - around £110 combined with British Gas (can't remember the breakdown atm - comes out of DHs account not mine)

2 bed flat here - £91 a month (electric only) and we're in debit to the tune of about £300 :(

God knows how. I spend my life on the phone complaining and saying I'm sure we're paying for the entire apartment block.

4 bed end terrace and we pay £167 a month, which to me is too much and we've tried all sorts to bring it down. The very cold winter/spring has not helped one bit.

Ours was £118 a month 3 bed semi & they wanted to put it up to £224, I've been on ML since Nov so hv had the heating on constant for the last 4/5 months during the coldest ever winter. We r with Npower but are changing suppliers to edf I think - dh is sorting - cant bring myself to pay over £200 for gas & elec.

2 bed victorian flat £67 a month dual fuel - tho only been here a few months so not sure how realistic this is long term.

Ring them and try to bottom that out. I get your total usage higher than the poster above, but still "only" £3600 a year - ie £300/mth if your summer usage is the same as your winter (unlikely!). Have you got a big debit with them from paying less than required over the winter - ie is that amount to be quits come autumn, and then it could come down again????

Ours is £75/mth, 4 bed detached.

£27 a month electricity (surprising as I work from home and the laptop/tv are on a lot, £60 gas (surprising as I have a log burner so try not to have the central heating on a lot). I think some of them get their amounts out of thin air!
