Anyone thinking about skipping the latest booster?

WoolyMammoth55 · 26/09/2023 12:11

I've had 3 jabs in total so far, and the last one made me REALLY poorly - couldn't get out of bed for a few days, crazy fever, hallucinating.

They didn't stop me getting Covid, which I've had 2 positive tests for since the first jab, and which was mild compared to how bad I was after the last booster!

I've been invited for the next booster and just can't see why I'd get it. I've had 3 jabs already so must have some protection, right? And since I keep getting it despite the jabs, I'm fairly likely to get it again in the next 6 months whether I do or don't get jabbed?

I can't see the upside.

I'm studying hard for a career change and have 2 little kids. If I had a reaction like last time I'd really struggle to keep all the balls in the air...

I'm being offered the booster because of my high BMI but don't have any co-morbidities, blood pressure good, not pre-diabetic, generally well.

Curious to know what others are thinking?

I’m not so keen but I will have it. I was in hospital with Covid before jabs were available. I recovered well but don’t want to risk being so ill again.

SaltyOne · 30/09/2023 11:40

@lubylo

I ignored because they are nonsense, people the world over were forced to get the mrna gene therapy, or be cancelled.

You ignored because you can only reply with nonsense. What does cancelling an everyday person involve, exactly?

lubylo · 30/09/2023 11:45

Looks like we have a multiple tag-team going here, to the extent of getting threatened with losing your job for refusing the gene therapy, isn't being cancelled.
Takes all sorts I suppose, glad I am not one of them.

You've got your science words muddled. It's not "gene therapy".

It's not a tag team. It's a public thread. Lots of people probably disagree, you know because it's mostly nonsense on your posts @lubylo

The interesting thing is that heart problems are significantly up as a percentage across the population.

As are the sales and consumption of Ultra Processed Foods, air-borne particulate pollution, water pollution, and vaping.

Biochemist · 30/09/2023 12:08

I ignored because they are nonsense,

This isn't a reply though @lubylo - I explained that we have a wealth of independent, robust research from different settings, demonstrating that a) roll out of vaccines to the general population was not a mistake and b) they are currently being offered to groups where benefits outweigh costs.

You then just claimed that all research is biased because it's funded by "big pharma". I explained how this isn't the case and again you ignore.

I assume you do this as presumably you can't reply, and instead swerve onto new points - "gene thereapy", "nuremberg code" that are clearly copied and pasted from the big anti-vaccine social media accounts. Think for yourself!

Looks like we have a multiple tag-team going here
I think if you post things that obviously aren't true, in whatever context, you're going to get a lot of replies that disagree with you

When a poster is still clearly Vaccine Misinformation 101 and hasn't moved on to some of the more sophisticated and less overtly ridiculous arguments the more up to date anti-evidence proponents are deploying, there's no point engaging.

Amen to that

You could be right, Jassy. I'm tired of rehashing already debunked misinformation. It's easy to see how the anti-vaccine grifters make their money.

lubylo · 30/09/2023 12:26

You don't have to make them up, they are true, and not for the first time either, whatever became of the Hippocratic Oath, adhered to by the likes of Professor Angus Dalgleish.
The government and big pharma in collusion, no such agreement is in place in the US. Indeed the claims are mounting up to such an extent, that Pfizer may seek chapter13.

The gov's tawdry back street deal, that had to be dragged out of them, while they were partying and having carnal relations during this dangerous time.

*It's gene therapy, never a vaccine, as Dr Malone said from day one, also Kary Mullis wasn't a fan either.

Still at least you aren't denying people were coerced, to take the gene therapy.*

One thing at a time @lubylo 😆🤣👌🏼

It's not "gene therapy". And don't believe in the "coercion" thing either.

How old are you?

CrunchyCarrot · 30/09/2023 10:03

@Marmunia10667 said My friend AND her daughter (17) both have cardiac problems after the Pfizer. - so they are closely related, not two genetically distinct individuals.

The odds are still 1 in 100,000,000 so I think I’ll take the risk compared to the much higher risk of getting seriously ill with Covid

Qilin · 30/09/2023 12:28

I had mine on Thursday, along with my flu vaccine at the same time.
Felt a bit achy/shivery yesterday with sore arms, but not enough to not go into work (I teach in a school.) Feeling loads better today.

I missed my spring booster due to being ill. I then got covid, booked again and got covid again, then ended up with pneumonia after that. So skipped spring but decided to get the autumn booster.

Never had any issues following the previous vaccines, apart from a sore arm. Always feel a bit achy/shivery after my flu one for a day or two. So matches this latest set.

Have had covid 4 times - first one pre vaccine had me in hospital. Second time I had antivirals. Last twice I was off work but not really poorly compared to before.

henlee · 30/09/2023 12:31

The government and big pharma in collusion,

For the millionth time @lubylo there is SO much evidence (the majority of it in fact) proving vaccine safety and efficacy from bodies that are independent of "big pharma" and the goverment. The early clinical trials are irrelevant at this point.

You're suggesting a giant conspiracy which realistically would involve persuading 10,000+ people to take part in a cover up.

Qilin · 30/09/2023 12:35

I had the pneumococcal vaccine in 2020, but managed to still get pneumonia this summer, less than 3 years later.

Not been offered the shingles one - not sure if eligible as not sure which medication ticks the boxes. I've only hit the 'right' age (50) this year but assume not on the medication list.

JassyRadlett · 30/09/2023 12:36

SaltyOne · 30/09/2023 12:20

It feels a bit wrong not to point out all the problems in these statements, I spent so much time in 2021 and 2022 doing it but it's so bloody boring now. They always come back with some unrelated unevidenced Twitter nonsense unrelated

Maybeimjuststupid · 30/09/2023 12:36

I haven’t had any and I haven’t had covid either 🤷‍♀️ I didn’t get it after a very close relative was extremely unwell after her vaccine and had lasting effects

Qilin · 30/09/2023 12:37

I also wish I was eligible but don’t think it should be based on ability to pay.

I assume it must be down to availability of sticks, as to why it isn't maybe.

You can pay for a flu vaccine regardless of eligibility.

sunglassesonthetable · 30/09/2023 12:40

You're suggesting a giant conspiracy which realistically would involve persuading 10,000+ people to take part in a cover up.

But that's so much more fun!!It's the drama isn't it@lubylo

You against the world/big pharma/Bill Gates/the government, dark forces whatever.

Ignore the absolute abundance of consensus opinion for the incredible, uncredible tweet! Yay!

Total warrior.

JassyRadlett · 30/09/2023 12:42

...to their previous statements and witter about "the government" as if it isn't nearly impossible to get even two governments to agree on something.

I'm tired of the bullshit and outright lies, I'm tired of confirmation bias, I'm tired of unwillingness or inability to evaluate sources, and I'm tired of wilful gullibility.

Superfoodie123 · 27/09/2023 13:52

@IClaudine honestly it is hilarious to me. I'm surprised you guys are still going. Especially because you can still catch it after vaccination and there seems to be more harm than good done by them.

Caring about your health? Eat well sleep well, exercise well take your zinc, vitamin d and selenium plus the others and see how your health improves. Funny how you've outsourced your health to a jab. I'll get my 'tinfoil hat' on now and leave out the back.

It's hilarious that there are people out there with compromised health and immune systems, isn't it? All through no fault of their own. Totally hilarious!

Not sure drinking some water, eating different and popping a vitamin tablet will solve some of those health issues.

Mind, if you've found a solution to them maybe let a doctor know - you could save the nhs millions!

🤨

PerkingFaintly · 30/09/2023 12:44

I didn't have the strength of side-effects the OP experienced, so I'll be having the booster.

For me, the expected benefits outweigh the expected harm.

But I can see how the balance is different for the OP. And to be honest, that makes me more determined to get it: I'm lucky enough to have been able to tolerate it well so far, and people like the OP who for one reason or another struggle to take it need the rest of us to create herd immunity.

Qilin · 30/09/2023 12:47

and there seems to be more harm than good done by them.

Covid put me in hospital.
Covid left me with a lifelong medical, condition requiring daily medication for life.

Covid vaccines haven't.
