If you could go back in time, would you still get the Covid jab?

I don’t really care if you’re vaccinated or not, but I’m interested if people would go back and change their decision?

Yes. Had my 4th last Thursday and DD (19) came along to have her 4th at the same time.
Will continue to have the boosters as long as the reputable medical experts advise it.
Have never knowingly had Covid, though of course I could have had a mild dose thanks to the vaccines. (2 X AZ and 2 x Pfizer for me, 3 Moderna and 1 x Pfizer for DD)

Y7drama · 29/12/2022 18:44

yes I would

blinkboo · 29/12/2022 18:44

Maybe not. It made me very ill both times and I don't get boosters now. Nor did I vaccinate my kids who were just over the age of eligibility as I couldn't understand the benefit. But I did have the first 3 vaccines myself because it felt like the right thing to do and was relieved / grateful that it contributed to ending all the isolating.
Hmm. Hard one. Would I do it again in exact same circumstances? Probably. Would I have it again now? No.

knittingaddict · 29/12/2022 18:45

Of course I would. I'm incredibly grateful that scientists and politicians have pushed this through and enabled it to happen.

nancydroo · 29/12/2022 18:47

No I wouldn't do it again plus all the boosters. For health reasons.

bizzywiththefizzy · 29/12/2022 18:47

Yes I think I've had five . Just to note that because I'm immune suppressed everyone in the household was entitled to a covid booster and a flu vaccine this autumn and we haven't had any illness in the house this winter 🤞

knittingaddict · 29/12/2022 18:47

To add, I've had covid twice and the vaccine 4 times. Covid the first time was by far the worst experience.

Choccolatte · 29/12/2022 18:48

Of course. I was so very ill when I got covid unvaxed, and didn't know except for a random test for a work thing after Vax.

2022again · 29/12/2022 18:49

yes to my first 2, no to my 3rd (palpitations for a good while after)....but its kind of an impossible question because unless you'd already had covid prior to being offered a vaccine ,you don't know how you would have reacted to the infection? We are all wise after the event now.

happySaturdays · 29/12/2022 18:50

I had horrible side effects and heart palpitations for months after

When I had it also unwell

No idea whether was worth it or not
Won't be having more vaccinations

Lolacat1234 · 29/12/2022 18:50

No I wouldn't have got it with hindsight. I had Covid before I got the jab and it was mild. I had Covid after and didn't even get one symptom it showed up on a hospital swab. Just recently had the "not covid" lurgy and it was awful, so much worse than Covid.

Thanks4allthefish · 29/12/2022 18:50

I only got it and my booster so I could travel so yea, if I needed it to go abroad I would but if not no. I’d had Covid twice by the time I had the vax - T cell immunity was always gonna be better than bad and antibodies

NetballHoop · 29/12/2022 18:51

Yes, of course I would. I lost one family member to COVID and firmly believe they would be alive today if the vaccines had been available before they ill.

itsgettingweird · 29/12/2022 18:51

Yes.

I had my 4th with my flu jab in October.

But I know many others who decided not to.

I get mine as I'm ds carer. I'm 42 so not in age band for it.

Quweenie · 29/12/2022 18:17

Oh gosh. This is my first thread I’ve created, I should have known people would get their knickers in a twist about it being Covid related.

The reason I ask, is because I was out at a table of 12 of us last night and 9 of the people said if they could rewind they would have never got it.

It just made me wonder if a lot of people thought that way.

That's got to be highly unusual and an indication of the demographics of the people you mix with. I don't know anyone who hasn't had it.

Pearsouffle · 29/12/2022 18:52

No because it’s totally messed up my cycles. It’s changed them so much and made me really unwell

itsgettingweird · 29/12/2022 18:54

Should have clarified I know many who decided not to get the 4th jab.

None of those refused the first set or the first booster.

One of them did wait for first jab and didn't get it jab 2021 when we could get it at work.

DomesticShortHair · 29/12/2022 18:56

No, I only had the first two for foreign travel, and that all got shut down anyway.

Animallover87 · 29/12/2022 18:57

Never in a million years. I had a very scary reaction after the second one and wasn't right for weeks and weeks afterwards.

WimbyAce · 29/12/2022 18:57

No, I only really got it to get the covid pass to make it easier to go to events and my work was trying to enforce it. Stopped after 2. I think we need to be really careful about all these injections and make sure we actually need them. I also stopped having the flu jab. My kids will not be having either.

Oblomov22 · 29/12/2022 18:58

Yes. Why wouldn't I?

AutumnColour89 · 29/12/2022 18:59

Nope. Totally messed up my cycle, and suffered flu-like symptoms after each of the three jabs. Highly, highly unlikely I'd ever have been even close to seriously unwell with Covid with or without jab. So eseentially all I was doing was guaranteeing illness with each shot.

Periods are still well out of any cycle even now, and has seriously messed up our trying to conceive.

Risk of the jab outweighed the risk of Covid for me personally, but I gave in to peer pressure and made the wrong decision for my health and fertility.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 29/12/2022 19:01

No, I probably wouldn’t.

Misty999 · 29/12/2022 19:02

No I only had it to travel overseas and felt I was forced

MarshaMelrose · 29/12/2022 19:02

I’d just like to add, these friends aren’t your typical empty headed Daily Mail readers either.
More than half are academics, one barrister etc

Ypur comment is laden with misconceptions.

The DM is ready by millions. They're not all going to be empty-headed. It's a free newspaper and you can bet your bottom dollar you 11 friends read it.
I've worked in universities and know academics. They're not some sort of omniscient geniuses. They're not always even that clever, just knowledgeable about their subject. Unless their speciality was vaccines, I'd credit their knowledge as being no greater than that of a DM reader. Ditto the legal profession.
