If you could go back in time, would you still get the Covid jab?

I don’t really care if you’re vaccinated or not, but I’m interested if people would go back and change their decision?

Yes, why wouldn't I?

Twilightstarbright · 29/12/2022 18:31

I’ve had 6 covid vaccines as I’m immunocompromised and I’ll continue to do so as long as I’m advised to.

DSis was really ill after the AZ vaccine, effectively got something similar to long covid as a reaction. She refuses to get any more vaccines. It’s not the choice I’d make but I respect her decision. She’s 25 and was healthy until that.

TheYearOfSmallThings · 29/12/2022 18:32

Yes, and that is despite skipping a period after each, and getting shingles after the second one (which I fully believe was related).

illiterato · 29/12/2022 18:32

Yup- all 4. Since I had them not only have I not had covid - although I didn’t get that before either- but I’ve had no type of coronavirus at all, or flu ( is that a coronavirus? No idea). I may have achieved immortality.

CatherinedeBourgh · 29/12/2022 18:32

No, it made me horribly unwell and I caught Covid anyway within a few months and was really unwell with that too, as unwell as others around me who had it at the same time and hadn't had the jab.

So for me it probably wasn't worth it, but I have had adverse reactions to vaccines before.

Quweenie · 29/12/2022 18:33

They were all kind of nodding along to the reasons one of our friends gave (a very outspoken, centre of attention kinda guy) and he was basically saying that people still get infected after the vaccine, no one knows the long term effect of the vaccine, they’d all had Covid before the vaccine was available and it was nothing worse than a bad cold, etc etc.

(PS. I don’t wish to argue the above points!)

I’ve also heard of lots of people not getting their 3rd/4th jab. Apparently the uptake of the boosters is getting worse too, so I wondered peoples thoughts.

Yes

VickerishAllsort · 29/12/2022 18:34

Duh yeah

Quweenie · 29/12/2022 18:34

chipsarnie · 29/12/2022 18:24

Yes, absolutely. Had all 4.

It's also made me magnetic, which has come in useful a few times.

Magnetic!? 😮 I haven’t heard of this!

Yes I would

WuTangGran · 29/12/2022 18:35

Yes, absolutely.

Vintagevixen · 29/12/2022 18:36

No - really bad reaction to jab number one. I deliberately haven't had any more. Caught Covid in March - was super mild.

Looking back I felt pressured into having it and am slightly resentful of that.

Didn't give it at all to DD who also had a super mild case.

If I could go back I wouldn't have it at all.

GyozaGuiting · 29/12/2022 18:36

Yes I would. I am grateful for all vaccines and science.

BIWI · 29/12/2022 18:37

I'm not 'getting my knickers in a twist' @Quweenie Hmm

I was wondering what you were getting at - it would have been useful if you'd said in your OP what you went on to say about your friends.

Because otherwise your OP could come across as being from an anti-vaxxer ...

I’d just like to add, these friends aren’t your typical empty headed Daily Mail readers either.
More than half are academics, one barrister etc.

Yes, and I'm always first in line for the next one. Not had covid yet.

Apologies. My first thread, I should have probably given more detail.

Yes, absolutely. Also have no regrets that my children did, one was an adult so it was his choice, although the intelligent, scientific leaning teen also chose to of her own volition.

I only know one person who regrets it, she has no grasp of science and is batshit crazy on several levels, though lovely.

sparkles82 · 29/12/2022 18:41

Didn’t have any and barely noticed having Covid. Best decision I made. I know many people who have regretted having the jabs (side effects etc) and stopped after the first two.

DramaAlpaca · 29/12/2022 18:41

Yes, definitely.

LaChatte · 29/12/2022 18:41

I don't know. I caught covid pre-jabs and it was fucking awful, almost 2 years on and I'm slowly getting better. I had 3 jabs which made me temporarily worse each time, but then, when I caught covid again, it wasn't so bad, so the jabs probably helped. Not sure if I'll have the next one or not, my head is saying yes, don't be a bloody idiot, but I do admit that I'm a bit nervous about re-triggering my long covid.

RayahB · 29/12/2022 18:41

No, I wish I hadn't.

I felt pressured at the time to get the vaccine and I'm not personally sure it has come at any benefit.

No one yet knows the long term affects and this now concerns me more. I have suffered with Covid after the jab and had it exactly the same as people who had not had the jab.

garlicandsapphires · 29/12/2022 18:42

A thousand times yes.

Newusernameaug · 29/12/2022 18:43

Never had the jab and don’t regret not getting it.

So many people I know are sick or have been sick, all got the vaccine. Those of us that didn’t get it, aren’t ill and haven’t been ill.

Same for us, family and friends are having side effects and immune disorders.

In time I think people en masse with come to regret it.
