If you could go back in time, would you still get the Covid jab?

I don’t really care if you’re vaccinated or not, but I’m interested if people would go back and change their decision?

OP posts:
olivehater · 31/01/2023 22:43

Yes but I would have waited for the Oxford one.

Mummyford · 31/01/2023 23:03

sunglassesonthetable · 31/01/2023 22:37

just looking at my fingers. 😄

@sunglassesonthetable

Ooh, what does fear look like when it oozes? Is it slippery (be careful any rings don't slip off)? Does it have a colour? Is it like phlegm or more like a vapour? Does it come out of all fingers equally, shoot out the tips of the pointer fingers? I'm desperate to know.

@statementstate

I think you need to take a breath before you have some kind of implosion.

sunglassesonthetable · 31/01/2023 23:12

🖐🏼

statementstate · 31/01/2023 23:14

Ah @sunglassesonthetable, thought you’d like that one.. oozing fingers. Knew you would too @Mummyford, it has even inspired you to bless us with some really descriptive writing. A* for your efforts. Glad I could bring that out of you, it almost imploded out, wouldn’t you agree?

sunglassesonthetable · 31/01/2023 23:20

yes @statementstate fabulous. night.

MeetPi · 31/01/2023 23:28

Thanks for the hugs, @statementstate. Love them! You sound like you need a few too, so sending a few back to you.

EzzieM · 31/01/2023 23:46

Definitely!

I had Pfizer and barely noticed covid when I had it. Plenty of people my age have died from it. DC wasn’t vaccinated then (is now) and was very poorly with it. I felt so guilty I was vaccinated and not her.

DH was given Astra-Zeneca and felt like crap 🤷‍♀️ but no lasting effects.

Quite enjoying not being dead.

Kentishbornknitter · 01/02/2023 03:50

No I would not get the jab. I now have a heart condition diagnosed by an echocardiogram that I had to pay for privately because the waiting list is so long due to all the new presentations of heart conditions (said by my cardiographer)

loulouljh · 01/02/2023 06:55

@Kentishbornknitter : that's truly rubbish. Your claims though sadly will be dismissed by many on here. I hope it is something you can get sorted.

Biochemist · 01/02/2023 12:48

statementstate · 31/01/2023 20:36

@Biochemist misinformation is made up. It’s propaganda. It doesn’t mean anything anymore. It has become an over used buzzword on mumsnet, just like narcissist.

if you want anyone to take heed of anything you say (presumably) using that word doesn’t add to your points as far as I’m concerned. Maybe the rest of you love it though. You’d think some of you are receiving royalties every time you use it.

I have respect for your comments on here, despite having opposing views, but the misinformation label is redundant at this point.

misinformation is made up. It’s propaganda

@statementstate

Mis/disinformation is a claim that isn't backed by robust evidence and causes harm. It doesn't matter whether it's something "pro" or "anti" vaccine.

I get that if you post something and someone dismisses it as MISINFORMATION without any further comment, that seems annoying and suspect, but see it from the other side...

I understand the term gets thrown around, and I do usually reply to posts with misinformation specifically explaining why, where the claim came from if I know, and linking to sources that demonstrate it to be untrue.

You can appreciate that after 2 years of these careful posts being ignored (and then the same claim repeated dozens of times over) I don't always reply in as much detail anymore Grin

Please understand that there are huge amounts of fake claims that take a number/stat/sentence out of a publication, and use it to mean something completely different. When you follow the claim back, it is clear there is actually no evidence backing it at all. It would be more than a full time job to reply to all posts in detail explaining this - and it's pretty unrewarding as most of the time a poster will ignore and swerve onto a new fake claim!

I have respect for your comments on here
Thank you, I really do try to reply in a respectful/helpful manner when I can!

No, I've not been the same since. Have had long term
Vitamin deficiency's and swollen lymph nodes in armpits as a result, which naturally cause panic when they flare up!

Which vitamins @gstv2104 ? And how do you know it was due to the vaccine out of interest - were you having regular full blood work beforehand?

Doubtful when she was healthy before. Do you have regular full blood work for no reason?

Well exactly which is why I asked.

If you've not had blood work before vaccination I don't see how you can assume that a deficiency now is due to a vaccine - could have been pre-existing for years.

listsandbudgets · 01/02/2023 13:19

Yes - I had covid right at the start of the pandemic and spent 2 weeks in bed feeling utterly appalling. For 3 days I only had fluids. Sometimes breathing hurt. I was completely exhausted from the coughing and fever. For whatever reason, it culminated in severe stomach pains and frequent vomiting over a period of 36 hours (by severe I mean collapsing on the floor screaming) - I was honestly close to going to hospital except the message seemed to be not to unless your lips were blue!

Then post jab I had covid again at the end of last January. I had a cough, I felt a bit rough - headache and some muscle stiffness mainly and got tired faster than usual but otherwise I was OK. I could move about, I wasn't confined to bed and I had an appetite. In fact I had a relatively enjoyable 7 days of peace and quiet!

Given the choice I'll take the jab thanks.

Having had covid, you were unlikely to suffer as much the second time whether or not you had the vaccination.

DemiColon · 01/02/2023 14:50

Having had covid, you were unlikely to suffer as much the second time whether or not you had the vaccination.

Plus omicron was the dominant variant from end of 21/ beginning of 22 which was experienced way more mildly than the Wuhan strain or delta.

sunglassesonthetable · 01/02/2023 19:01

Having had covid, you were unlikely to suffer as much the second time whether or not you had the vaccination.

And equally same to be said after having the jab.

Like ‘omicron is mild due to high levels of vaccination’? Lot of people didn’t read past the headline on that one.

CrunchyCarrot · 01/02/2023 21:25

Omicron isn't 'mild' or milder than the original. It's still pretty nasty. Look at the unvaccinated people in China, they're not experiencing it as something mild.

itwasntmetho · 01/02/2023 22:50

It was mild for me and I was nearly a year past my last vaccine.

mot was milder than delta and the wuhan strain.

Fordian · 01/02/2023 22:59

Yes, yes, yes, yes.All four times.

HelpfulMonkey · 02/02/2023 00:46

Quite funny to watch disinformation campaigns happen in real time.
Thanks for the entertainment, guess I paid for it with my taxes anyway...

That's not really the point, the poster seemed to be suggesting that his second bout of covid was milder because he'd been vaccinated. But it was always likely to be milder the second time he had it. And in fact he might have been more ill the second time had he only had the vaccination and not been sick also.
