If you could go back in time, would you still get the jab?

If you could go back in time, would you still get the Covid jab?

I don’t really care if you’re vaccinated or not, but I’m interested if people would go back and change their decision?

Stoic123 · 28/01/2023 19:19

Absolutely - all of them.

I have caught Covid a couple of times since first jab and each time was pretty mild. Dread to think how much worse would have been without them.

sunglassesonthetable · 28/01/2023 19:20

Yes, it's safe and effective. 🙄I find that scientists and the medical fraternity have their heads buried in the sand. The rest of us think outside the box.

What all scientists commenting on this and all the medical fraternity? Because it's a global consensus.

Or do you believe that globally they all have their hands in the sand. Or perhaps a global conspiracy?

"the rest of us" ? what you and your mate? And someone from the pub? Who is this " rest of us" ? think outside the box. Give us break. You're literally in the box.

You sound ridiculous.

Stoic123 · 28/01/2023 19:38

Some classic examples of Dunning-Kruger effect on display here.

"the rest of us think outside the box". Good grief 😂😂

sunglassesonthetable · 29/01/2023 12:42

You're not taking the vaccine again or didn't take it ever.

Fair enough. Free country.

But don't churn out rubbish as 'fact.' And if it's just because you don't fancy it or you have a hunch. It's also a free country. But don't play it as other people's ignorance.

There are some jokers on here.

iloveautumn3 · 29/01/2023 12:53

No I regret it having it.

Mycatsgoldtooth · 29/01/2023 21:45

Not jabbed, so happy. Would happily have lost my job if it came to it. Had covid pregnant before the jabs and was fine. Did antibody tests and had them for a year after being infected so could see no need to get vaccinated. I have never caught it again despite being around a lot of vaccinated people who all caught it.

However mil collapsed after each vaccine and was told it was anxiety, was eventually diagnosed with pericarditis. My brother had a massive reaction and left with chronic urticaria, started day of the vaccine. His throat swelled up and went to a&e. Sil massive menstural issues. I posted all this last year and was called a liar.

Probably because it would make you a statistical anomalie to have so many people you know have serious reactions. I don't think it's unreasonable to think you're lying either last year or now really.

MinkyGreen · 30/01/2023 04:48

@Mycatsgoldtooth

@Fairlybear

I find a lot of the anti-vax brigade now just make up a ridiculous, over-exaggerated piece of anecdotal evidence to support their nonsense.

Aunt Mary’s hairdresser says this etc etc - so therefore her hunch carries more weight than what the top scientists are saying globally…

Not only that, but a wide range of conditions: repeated doses of shingles to rapid onset of arthritis.

Florissant · 30/01/2023 07:43

Exactly. It's no different than if I posted that a friend had the vaccine and it cured her diabetes, the vaccine caused my neighbor to lose two stones, the vaccine grew hair on a bald man, etc.

Since they have no reliable data to point to, the anti-vaccine strategy seems to be to compile a list of every extremely rare or completely nonexistent side effect of the vaccine and claim that everyone they know who has had the vaccine has had all of them. This is followed by a claim that all of the unvaccinated people they know have never had covid or that it was just a 24 hour case of the sniffles.

When you have no reliable data, make up some anecdotes.

Seriously, if you know of one these small clusters of people affected by the vaccine get it confirmed by a medical professional and reported. In the same way Long Covid is reported.

These clusters of vaccine affected people mentioned by posters seriously buck world wide trends. Make them known.

Obviously self diagnosing doesn't count. But you knew that.

sunglassesonthetable · 30/01/2023 12:12

I am not lying, three out of a hundred people I know isn’t a disproportionate amount, but

It's disproportionate in a family group.

sunglassesonthetable · 30/01/2023 12:22

I’d be freaking out if I had that time bomb in my system but go and get your sixth jab and get covid again and again while saying how delighted you are you got a vaccine that doesn’t stop transition, doesn’t stop you catching it and perhaps may be makes symptoms a bit easier…

Don't have it then. 🤷‍♀️ "time bomb etc"

MinkyGreen · 30/01/2023 12:29

@Mycatsgoldtooth

So you’ve linked an article from a think tank that has some of the worst, disreputable journalists and is even less poorly regulated than MSM. It’s also very right wing politically.

Why is their unregulated and heavily politically biased journalism better than the global consensus of medical opinion?

You are also wrong in your assessment of vaccine efficacy.

Judging by your favoured news source, if your views on the vaccine are influenced by very right wing politics - I think it’s better that you just say “I believe in survival of the fittest” - rather than spread misinformation.

foliageeverywhere · 30/01/2023 12:43

This was the opposite of what you would expect in the receding phase of a pandemic

They can't even get the first paragraph right.

Why on earth would they think this is opposite of what you'd expect in the "receding phase"?

Lockdowns, increased hospital wait times, long term complications from being infected with a novel virus.. Of course there are going to be knock on effects.

henlee · 30/01/2023 12:46

I’d be freaking out if I had that time bomb in my system

There is no "time bomb", this is pretty poor attempt at causing anxiety and fear. I won't repeat as has been posted what feels like millions of times, but a vaccine cannot suddenly cause you to drop dead/have cardiac complications/get cancer months later @Mycatsgoldtooth

but go and get your sixth jab and get covid again and again while saying how delighted you are you got a vaccine
I'd quite like a roll eye emoji for this one - the vast majority aren't even offered a booster (fourth not sixth vaccine)

For the rest of us, a yearly booster is perfectly reasonable, as it is for other diseases like 'flu. I must've had 20+ flu jabs in my lifetime, it's not some crazy scam you're making it out to be.

I do hope that you are able to get help for your debilitating anxiety. It must be awful to be so unwell that a clinically tested vaccine can cause you to freak out to that extent. I can't imagine how difficult it must be to go through life with so much fear and distrust.

Useruser1 · 30/01/2023 14:38

I never had any and I'm very happy with that decision.
"Trump's jab!"

TooBusyGazingAtStarss · 30/01/2023 14:38

No. I only had the first jab and was guilt tripped into that by family.
Basically I couldn't see them unless I had the jab.
Bitterly regret getting it.

Out of interest, why do you regret it exactly?

"Trump's jab!"

eh? Why on earth do you associate Trump with the coronavirus vaccines?

Voting for trump was actually one of the strongest predictors in not being vaccinated in the US - and just look at attitudes regarding vaccines in red versus blue states.

The nonsense appears to be increasing exponentially on the covid board.

sunglassesonthetable · 30/01/2023 16:12

I can't imagine how difficult it must be to go through life with so much fear and distrust.

Tbh this is it.

Either worrying about taking it yourself.

Or the time bomb of 70% of the world's population having had it.

Xenia · 30/01/2023 16:31

I had it very mildly (and no vaccine). Half our family had the vaccine and half not. I have never said the vaccine doesn't work but it was exaclty as I thought in March 2020 - that it would be like the flu one (so not one for me). I do resent having to pay for it through very high taxes however and paying for the lockdowns I did not support and the wasted money on furlough etc. However I choose to live in the UK and that is the price you pay
