Anyone else considering not having this booster?

So 4th? one.

Just wondering really as I’m not sure how I feel about it. It seems like a lot to be pumping into my body in a short space of time.
I had Covid booster plus flu jab last year. DH didn’t have flu jab or a booster last time.
DS has never had any

DH and I had our Flu jabs last week, and were just discussing this morning whether we can be bothered to get this years Covid booster. It's not that we are particularly against, it's more of vaccine fatigue now.... almost just can't be bothered. Neither of us has had Covid yet, so no experience, but both DD's have had it and one was quite poorly. Interestingly I suspect low take up locally, very difficult to get a flu jab, but can walk in anywhere for the covid jab, full selection of slots if you want to book.

@BigWoollyJumpers

I don’t get your logic - if you’re happy to get a flu jab and you’ve seen your daughter ill why wouldn’t you take it? And if there’s loads of slots why CBA? It takes 5 mins and makes it much less likely that you will need medical care if you get a bad dose, so it’s helpful to the NHS.

Whynobreadpudding · 31/10/2022 09:28

NO. It made my Crohn’s disease worse, obviously don’t know for sure, but symptoms were much worse for a few months after.

You are right, it is not logical. We only started getting flu jabs last year because of Covid, so not something we did regularly anyway. To my knowledge I've never had flu either.

I think it is just therefore vaccine fatigue. Too many in too short a time, when we are not regular vaccine takers anyway. We are only mid 50's so not particularly vulnerable.

We probably will.......we had all the others, but tbh, we know so many people who have had Covid multiple times, with full vaccination, and DH and I have never caught it. DH is literally the only one in his office of 100 who hasn't it, and they all got it on different occassions with him in the room, just lucky I guess.

Just had mine.
You state your most recent was last year which is at least 10 months ago so what's the problem?

Bungalowlady · 31/10/2022 09:39

Had the booster on 17th of this month. Was completely wiped out by the evening. Sore throat, swollen glands, coughing, temperature. Still feeling bad and now have a chest infection. Have no energy still.
Have never had any effects from previous jabs. Had covid twice and didn’t feel anything like I do now.

bellinisurge · 31/10/2022 09:41

Had it a month or so ago. No reaction. I had a reaction to the first jab but nothing after that. I'm over 50 with MS so I got it sooner than many.

Kimya · 31/10/2022 09:46

Well I have a flu jab every year so why not this. I'm not sure if I'll be eligible as not in the higher risk categories.

WimbyAce · 31/10/2022 09:47

I am not having any more, have only had 2. Have had covid once and no real issues. Also offered the flu jab but not having that either. Also don't give to my kids.

Eightiesgirl · 31/10/2022 09:49

I really don't know what to do. Mine is booked for next week. I've had all the ones so far and always had a bad reaction lasting a few days. After the last one I swore I wouldn't have anymore. I had the flu jab 2 weeks ago and just had a sore arm and felt a bit as if I was getting a cold but fine apart from that. I really don't know whether to cancel the covid booster.

colouringindoors · 31/10/2022 09:49

Just had it. Zero reaction.

Your risk of LongCovid increases with each infection. I know three people, one a teen, two in there 40s who have been completely disabled by it.

Except that the injections haven't stopped us getting Covid anyway. 😷

WhenPushComesToShove · 31/10/2022 09:55

It's a NO from me for a 4th. Had seriously nasty bout of covid early 2021 - in bed 11 days. Had 2 AZ jabs after that then Pfizer jab late 2021. It poleaxed me, 17hrs after, I was driving and I nearly didn't make it home, head all swimmy and faint. Crawled up to bed and stayed there for 5 days. It makes me so ill I may as well get the real thing and have proper immunity. This 'vaccine' doesn't prevent or stop spread of covid.

Skiphopgoosebumps · 31/10/2022 09:58

I had my antibodies tested past month and they were at a higher level- a few days later I had covid for the first time. I wouldn’t have an extra booster at the moment as I probably have enough antibodies to catch it only mildly again.

Vaccines curb the severity of COVID. Absolutely wild how people still aren't understanding this.

Randommother · 31/10/2022 10:00

Nope. I’ve just had Covid, so should have some protection, and I’ve reacted badly to the other vaccines so I don’t think it’s worth it this time around.

Yeah, that's why I got them. But I'm not going to do it indefinitely.

Alphabet1spaghetti2 · 31/10/2022 10:03

i have decided not to have this booster. Having reacted badly to past flu shots and then even worse to each successive covid shot, I just don’t want that again. My sick time at work hasn’t been caused by flu or covid but by reacting to the shots.

lannistunut · 31/10/2022 10:04

lifeinthehills · 31/10/2022 10:02

Why not indefinitely? We get flu vaccines indefinitely and your personal risk goes up with each year of age.

PAFMO · 31/10/2022 10:05

I've never knowingly had Covid, despite working in a school and sleeping in the same bed as Covid+ dp.
I'll have the booster when it gets round to me. I don't know anyone in my real life circle who wouldn't.
I've never had a flu jab though- I did think this year I might.

Astrabees · 31/10/2022 10:08

I had my booster covid jab a month ago and flu jab last week I had no side effects with either. I actually got COVID a week after the booster, but the symptoms were very mild. DH didn’t catch it off me which we put down to him having had the new Pfizer booster a week before I had mine. Having worked in Social care throughout the pandemic and up to September this year anything we can do to minimise pressure on the NHS is really important. I’m sure having COVID and Flu would be pretty awful,

TheNoonBell · 31/10/2022 10:11

Not been jabbed at all, had COVID early on and no trouble since despite taking no precautions what so ever.

Some of my jabbed friends are on their third infection! I don't know any unjabbed who had it more than once so it looks like something odd is going on.

I've never had a flu shot in my life. To be honest, my doctor never mentioned it before last year. I was thinking of getting it for the first time this year, then I was closely involved with nursing someone with influenza A and didn't get it. So I think I've had it in the past and have immunity to that strain, so didn't bother in the end. I will get my next Covid jab when they have one that actually prevents sickness. I got Covid sickness. That was my booster three months ago. My doctor was happy with that.

MeetPi · 31/10/2022 10:14

@WhenPushComesToShove

Vaccines give the same, or better, immunity than natural infection - without the possibility of ongoing vascular, respiratory, and neurological issues. (It is also said that if you have particularly severe after-effects with a vaccine, then any Covid infection could be severe, too.)

Q2C4 · 31/10/2022 10:14

I had my flu and Covid jab together recently. I felt fine afterwards, so ill effects other than a mild headache which was manageable with paracetamol.

BeethovenNinth · 31/10/2022 10:18

Haven’t had any. Was waiting for longer term evidence.

i now value my regular normal periods far too much to risk it. Have had covid once and it was fine
