Anyone else considering not having this booster?

So 4th? one.

Just wondering really as I’m not sure how I feel about it. It seems like a lot to be pumping into my body in a short space of time.
I had Covid booster plus flu jab last year. DH didn’t have flu jab or a booster last time.
DS has never had any

I’ve had the original 2 jabs and the 1st booster however will be having no more.

I was so ill after the booster [Moderna] I actually thought I was dying and was vey nearly at the hospital. Temp over 40 , sweating, freezing cold, sickness, breathing was irregular and palpitations,.

im having no more.

waterlego · 31/10/2022 07:45

I haven’t been offered Covid or flu jabs as I’m under 50 and not in vulnerable health. I’m ok with that.

FiveMins · 31/10/2022 07:45

I had my 5 one, immuno issues. I always get a very sore arm from all vaccinations (probably because my immune system is hyperactive). Asked to have it in my thigh this time. Though slight reaction was nothing compared to usual. Worth a go for anyone who gets swollen arms!

DarkNecessities · 31/10/2022 07:45

A real mix of responses. Thanks

Interesting that it’s not being routinely offered to under 50’s. That may affect my decision.

I really don’t see it as the same as taking vitamins and 5 a day though!

I was due to get mine today but unfortunately, I caught covid for the second time last week and feel bloody awful. I'd get the booster.

PortiasBiscuit · 31/10/2022 07:48

Do you have any idea of how many antigens your body deals with in a day? Have the bloody booster.. and if you’re not having it stay off this sort of forum where someone might think you have a legitimate pov.

lljkk · 31/10/2022 07:49

I have no plans to get it. I only had any covid jabs to make other people happy, or to travel.

I've fed up with this compulsory jabness (for me). I guess I'd like anyone age 80+ to get a booster, but otherwise Don't care what others do.
I am Female, Mid 50s, no underlying conditions.

We live in a country where medical treatment or defining of is our choice. It doesn't just apply to choices you agree with it applies to everything. Id rather not live somewhere where medical treatment is forced upon people even if those people make a different choice to what you or I or next door will.

BenCoopersSupportWren · 31/10/2022 07:52

I’m seriously considering not having it. The immediate family members who are a little more vulnerable by dint of age / medical history have all had or about to have theirs, so theoretically they should be protected.

I’ve reacted quite badly to the three Covid jabs I’ve had so far. I’ve always had a bad response to IM injections but each of the Covid vaccinations has been a progressively worse reaction and I’m dreading the thought of how bad another might be.

It seems that, as predicted, the virus is mutating to become more transmissible but less severe in effect, and as I’m basically healthy (I have a medical condition/disability but it’s a ‘mechanical’ mobility issue rather than immune system-related), I’m inclined to take my chances with it. The vast, vast majority of people I know who’ve had it recently, whether vaccinated/boostered or not, have described it as anything from like a heavy cold to feeling like flu for a couple of weeks but no worse than that.

TerrifyingGhostTrain · 31/10/2022 08:00

No thank you.

(interested to note it’s being encouraged in a mumsnet promoted post too.(

Unsurprisingly this is not the first place I come for medical advice and I’m certainly not swayed in favour of having it by those banging on about it on this thread either!

BillyBigot · 31/10/2022 08:00

No I'm not having it.

ValerieDoonican · 31/10/2022 08:01

Had my booster a few weeks ago; felt a bit tired/fluey the next day then perfectly fine after that.

Caught covid last week (first time that I know of), and so far it has been very much like a head cold ie masses of annoying sneezing and a bit weary, but so far not really felt ill. Just an anecdote I know but I have seen the stats about how well vaccines protect from serious illness if you do catch covid, so at more-than-60, it feels like it was the right choice for me.

RosieRooster83 · 31/10/2022 08:02

I definitely won't be having another one. I had my booster in January and ever since I have been so unwell. It heightened my anxiety to the point where I had to be prescribed beta blockers, caused chest pain and long term pain all throughout my body. I haven't felt normal since and I still don't know what is wrong with me. Feel unwell all the time.

megletthesecond · 31/10/2022 08:04

I will add that I never travel and I've never had covid. Still get boosted though. My dc's rely on me.

Why should the op, or others wondering whether to have anymore stay off his forum?

IntentionalError · 31/10/2022 08:05

Absolutely not. I had a Moderna / Spikevax Covid booster two weeks ago, and my annual flu jab in September. No side effects at all from the Covid at all, but the flu made me feel a bit under the weather for a few days. Both preferable to getting seriously ill with the disease.

LaGioconda · 31/10/2022 08:05

I don't see why it's a lot to be "pumping" into your body? It's year since the last one, it's not like you're doing it once a week or even once a month. If you get Covid, a hell of a lot more by way of multiplying viruses will be pumping in.

Bunnynames101 · 31/10/2022 08:06

No. I'm not. My post-vaccine symptoms have been increasingly worse after each subsequent jab. I 'finally' got covid this summer. It floored me, yes. Still feeling the post-viral symptoms, yes. But unless my healthcare based employer insists on it I'm back to just having flu jab.

LaGioconda · 31/10/2022 08:08

I had the flu and covid jabs together last week. The arm with the covid jab was mildly sore for a couple of days, and that's the only reaction I've had. Even if I had felt a bit worse, the choice between that and having flu and/or covid is a total no-brainer.

Tirediam · 31/10/2022 08:08

Cancelled mine last week. Won’t be having any more. Had three and had covid

TeenDivided · 31/10/2022 08:10

Had 4th covid & flu vaccine a fortnight ago.

Apart from people who have had extreme reactions I'd rather trust the scientists who have all the data on which to make a decision than random naysayers or worse scaremongers.

The Government aren't spending millions on this just for fun.

BlueBar · 31/10/2022 08:12

I'm dithering. I'm not anti, I had the first 3 as soon as I was able, but I was quite ill with each, my periods were messed up and I've still had Covid twice and been quite ill each time. So I kind of wonder why bother?

I know all the stuff about it being worse if I hadn't, but I'm not a high risk group, there's no reason to think it would have been anything more than a mild illness for me anyway.

7Worfs · 31/10/2022 08:17

Never had Covid or flu jabs, I’m happy with my immune system.

justusandmoo · 31/10/2022 08:17

Me and my partner have both cancelled the boosters. Not having any more.

luciaann · 31/10/2022 08:19

Had covid and flu jabs ont he weekend and just grateful to be given it. If you don't want it don't have it save it for someone who does
