Anyone else considering not having this booster?

So 4th? one.

Just wondering really as I’m not sure how I feel about it. It seems like a lot to be pumping into my body in a short space of time.
I had Covid booster plus flu jab last year. DH didn’t have flu jab or a booster last time.
DS has never had any

Didn’t even know they would be available to all this year, thought it would just be the vulnerable. So no probably won’t bother.

MassiveSalad22 · 31/10/2022 08:56

Wow I didn’t realise people got the flu jab each year too 😵‍💫 I never got the memo I guess 😂 only ever had 3 as an adult, whenever I’ve been pregnant.

maranella · 31/10/2022 08:56

I'm 48, so don't qualify, but if I did I wouldn't be having another booster. I've had 4 jabs and I've also had Covid (possibly twice), so I don't see the point. For the elderly and vulnerable though, I do, and I'm glad my DPs have had their boosters. My DF just got Covid two weeks ago (he's 79 and CV), and he sailed through it, so I'm very grateful for all the vaccinations.

No. I had flu jab and booster as soon as I was eligible.

Me too. Don't know anyone who hasn't had it. Sore arms for a couple of days but that was it. Absolutely delighted to have had both. My husband has been part of a vaccine trial at Bath hospital for the last 12 months. The vaccine he was a guinea pig for is now available. The work they have done is incredible. The testing they have done and the support he has had throughout has been brilliant. I am very grateful to have the opportunity to protect myself and others from the worst of covid and to enable us all to get out and about.

I had the first 2 in Spring 2021 and wont have anymore. I had omnicron at Christmas and my DH has just had a cold that was a covid virus. I didn’t get it from him despite sleeping, cuddling and being very near him. My friends who have had 5 jabs have covid at the moment and are very poorly.

Ive only had 2 flu jabs, last year being the first and tbh my arm grew like popeyeys bicep, it was nasty but i could cope, this time though it is off the scale.

SallyWD · 31/10/2022 08:58

I'm at higher risk of complications. I had Covid once and it took me 6 weeks to get over. I've already had the Covid and flu vaccines.

JohnPrescottsPyjamas · 31/10/2022 09:00

Not me. I’ve had three. The first one (AZ) brought on PMS symptoms within 10 days; sore boobs, spots, heavy discharge and a week later - a period. Fine, but I’m actually 3 years post menopause! The second was pretty uneventful and I then caught Omicron which was a total non event with slight runny nose. Wouldn’t have suspected Covid had I not tested,

However, after my last booster I was floored for a week. Fever, shaking, aching joints, weakness, disorientation, hallucinations. I know which experience I would not want to repeat.

The fact that over 120 countries now no longer even require vaccination for entry suggests to me that there’s unofficial doubt over its effectiveness anyway - although I appreciate others may feel quite differently.

cptartapp · 31/10/2022 09:01

Previously fit and well at 50 I've had lots of sudden cardiac issues this year. Another trip to A&E this weekend with a heart rate of 180 and palpitations after my recent booster.
Who knows if it's related but no more for me.

ClaudineClare · 31/10/2022 09:02

Bunnynames101 · 31/10/2022 08:06

No. I'm not. My post-vaccine symptoms have been increasingly worse after each subsequent jab. I 'finally' got covid this summer. It floored me, yes. Still feeling the post-viral symptoms, yes. But unless my healthcare based employer insists on it I'm back to just having flu jab.

Maybe covid would have more than floored or floored you even more if you hadn't had the vaccine? Worth thinking about.

ClinkeyMonkey · 31/10/2022 09:03

I had mine a couple of weeks ago. I'm happy to suffer some minor inconvenience a couple of times a year and I'm not at all concerned about the 'pumping chemicals' into my body aspect. I had Covid in February and it was very mild, so my own attitude is influenced by the fact that I believe the vaccine staved off the worst symptoms. I think nowadays people are basing their decision on personal experience because everyone has a different reaction to the vaccine and to Covid itself. But I do wonder if some of those who had the vaccines and booster and still had a bad bout of Covid, might have been hospitalised or worse had they not had them. I say this in the full knowledge that Covid, with or without a vaccine, is not dangerous to the vast majority of people, but I remain convinced that I need to cut my chances of passing it on to people who are vulnerable.

Flaunch · 31/10/2022 09:03

I don’t think I’ll be offered or as a healthy under 50yo but if I am offered it I won’t take it. I had the first 3 and worked with the public all through the pandemic and never got it nor did I get it when DH and dd were really Ill with it so I think I’m probably immune.

7eleven · 31/10/2022 09:04

I cancelled mine yesterday. Haven’t felt right since the flu jab a few weeks ago. Just couldn’t face it. I might have it in a few weeks. I had all the others.

JamSandle · 31/10/2022 09:05

I've decided not too personally.

lightlypoachedeyeballs · 31/10/2022 09:07

I've had flu and 4th covid jabs within 2 days of each other. A week on I'm fine- and I have a compromised immune system.

Do it. Word is that the flu may be very potent this year as it's stored up its power for the last couple of years. I'm not risking that.

And I have friends still suffering with debilitating long covid, months after a very mild case of covid itself. And I was I'll for a year after my last bout. It's just not worth the risk that you'll be in that group.

Beanbagtrap · 31/10/2022 09:09

The COVID vaccines have ruined my cycle each time to the point of me having to stay off work for days on end while I flood into the toilet. Not being able to sit on a sofa or bed without bin bags and towels underneath me. Apparently this is all 'normal' according to gp. So I don't want to get any more because its finally settled after the last one last year BUT a family member is immunosuppressed so I'll do my duty.

Kwustle · 31/10/2022 09:13

No more for me after the initial first two AZ.. If I could undo having them, I would.

DH, DM, DB and SIL and my teen DC have not had any at all. It's not something that even comes up in conversation in our family anymore let alone for consideration.

Luredbyapomegranate · 31/10/2022 09:13

I had Covid in one arm and flu in the other on the same day. Felt a bit flu-y for half a day but that was it.

I understand you might not if you’ve had shocker reactions, but overall the benefits out way the risks I think. Bad Covid might not be likely but it’s nasty. And I think the NHS needs all the help it can get to get back on it’s feet, so it’s best to do all you can to avoid needing it.

Luredbyapomegranate · 31/10/2022 09:18

.. oh I have had all the boosters.

Had Covid once (that I know of) but was just a scratchy throat and a snotty nose for a few days. Felt fine otherwise. I travel a lot so suspect I might have had it before and not known about it.

BigWoollyJumpers · 31/10/2022 09:18

DH and I had our Flu jabs last week, and were just discussing this morning whether we can be bothered to get this years Covid booster. It's not that we are particularly against, it's more of vaccine fatigue now.... almost just can't be bothered. Neither of us has had Covid yet, so no experience, but both DD's have had it and one was quite poorly. Interestingly I suspect low take up locally, very difficult to get a flu jab, but can walk in anywhere for the covid jab, full selection of slots if you want to book.

AutumnsCrow · 31/10/2022 09:20

I'll be honest and say that I did have a funny five minutes where I thought, 'oh god another covid jab?' because I'd already had 5.

But I have now had my 6th.

Luckily I was able to spread them out so I had my 6th covid jab, then my flu jab a week later, and then my immunesuppressant jab a week after that (which was yesterday). It seemed a decent compromise. Better than not having the vaccinations, anyway, for someone in my position I guess.

lifeinthehills · 31/10/2022 09:20

I've had two, DH has had three. That's enough for us.

hattie43 · 31/10/2022 09:22

I've had it but not sure I'll have another one , I sailed through the first three but the fourth felt like I'd been hit by a train and frightening chest pains. I've never had covid so not sure what's worse

EleanorRavenclaw · 31/10/2022 09:23

I’ve had 4th Covid and the flu jab a few weeks ago. No after affects from either.

The same has been the case for a friend of mine. She suffered a TIA after her second booster (didn't make a connection) but it's happened again almost to the day after her recent booster, as she checked the date in her diary.
