So 4th? one.

Just wondering really as I’m not sure how I feel about it. It seems like a lot to be pumping into my body in a short space of time.
I had Covid booster plus flu jab last year. DH didn’t have flu jab or a booster last time.
DS has never had any

withgraceinmyheart · 31/10/2022 08:21

I’ve had both mine. Always had the flu jab and this is no different.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 31/10/2022 08:24

I had the flu jab and didn't feel well from that but nothing compared to proper flu which I've had twice in 15 years and that was twice too many! Had the Covid jab a week later, the Pfizer one and was a bit tired ,needed a sleep in the afternoon and was very cold and shivery but only lasted 24 hours. I will be have any booster that is offered.

borntobequiet · 31/10/2022 08:25

I had the Moderna booster plus my flu jab a few weeks ago. Felt a bit under the weather for 24 hours but worth it for the reassurance. Seems foolish to turn down a free and proven method of avoiding or mitigating illness.

silverclock222 · 31/10/2022 08:29

No. I am CEv so should be on my 5th now? Was so I'll after my first booster I decided I wouldn't be taking any more and would risk covid instead.

Hooverphobe · 31/10/2022 08:29

No. I had the first 2 but chose not to continue. Had it in feb and was fine. At least now they’re admitting the jags do SFA to stop the new variants.

ancientgran · 31/10/2022 08:29

I'm only just getting anywhere near normal after getting covid in February so I booked my appointment as soon as I could. If there's anything I can do to reduce the risk of catching it I will take it.

Interestingly I have had covid twice, the first time I didn't know I had it, found out by a random test but I had absolutely no symptoms, second time I got pneumonia, broke ribs coughing and was flat on my back for 8 weeks and then months gradually improving. I would advise peole that they can't assume they will get it mildly because that's what happened the first time.

Dougieowner · 31/10/2022 08:31

Had mine last week, no side effects whatsoever (same as previous times).

Body can take it, two vaccines a year (COVID & flu) is hardly overload.

Morasssassafras · 31/10/2022 08:32

Had the booster and flu jabs last week. Sore arms and a bit tired for 2 days (looking at pp that may have been the flu jab rather than the covid).

I did think about whether I needed it because I had covid at the end of August and felt ill for literally 3 hours, and was a bit phlegmy for a week after. But I decided to go for it and am glad I did.

BooksAndHooks · 31/10/2022 08:32

Had ours, same as having flu each year. No side affects other than sore armpit and arm for a few days. I still haven’t had covid so no natural immunity.

LubaLuca · 31/10/2022 08:32

I had it alongside the annual flu jab. I'm considered vulnerable so I don't consider not having these things.

Anyway, I got covid for the 2nd time a few days after having this year's booster. It was milder than a cold and far less severe than the first time I had covid 18 months ago.

sashh · 31/10/2022 08:32

Whatwouldscullydo · 31/10/2022 07:33

I had one which literally burned as it went in which I've never had with any other injection /vaccination/medication ever before. So I've had none since as it seemed yet another thing that as I get older I seem to start reacting too. Plus the first one triggered peri symptoms so.i wasn't risking any more

And I'm unaware of any other vaccine protocol that requires so many in.such a short space of time that there's any information regarding the effects to be able to make an informed decision.

Rabies vaccination is 3 jabs in 28 days. I've already had mine, no symptoms, not even a sore arm.

PacificFish · 31/10/2022 08:33

I’ve had mine and I’ve had the flu jab too.
I have not had covid so far.
At the start, I was worried about hospitalisation and death due to covid. It was great that we have vaccines that reduce this.
However, now it’s becoming more clear that the effects of covid infection last a lot longer with increased risks of strokes, heart attacks etc even after a mild bout (and the more times you catch it, the higher the risk), I’m vaccinated to try to reduce the impact of this.
I think, like masking, vaccination helps me personally, but it also reduces the amount of virus kicking around in the population and I’m vaccinated to try to help with that too.
The hige levels of infection are really worrying as we still don’t have the full picture- but we do have an increased mortality that is linked to covid but doesn’t come up as covid related in the figures.
also, sadly, infection doesn’t equal immunity. In fact, infection can mess up your immune system and make you immune suppressed such that you are more likely to catch other diseases as well as covid again.
without proper measure such as masking and air management as well as good levels of vaccination, we are going to see more people infected, more people with long covid and more people dying from associated diseases.

Notonthestairs · 31/10/2022 08:39

Booked my jab for Thursday. Had covid 2x, once pre vaccine and once after. The difference in how it impacted me was tremendous. Chest pains first time around were terrifying.

I have a friend with long covid and it's been an awful blight on her life for the last 18 months.

I have kids in 2 different secondary schools and use a lot of public transport. As born says its a simple way to mitigate risk.

Ginandthings · 31/10/2022 08:40

Babies and small children have a number of vaccinations at the same time, so they really aren’t an issue for your immune system.
Not sure my age group will be offered it but I'm on the fence about having another booster though but only because I reacted very badly to the previous 3 and with each have been ill for longer. If that weren’t the case I would definitely get it

etulosba · 31/10/2022 08:40

I need to get mine done. I was ill for weeks with covid before the vaccinations were available. Of the three jabs I have already had only one had any noticeable side effects, and they only lasted a day.

Buzzinwithbez · 31/10/2022 08:42

I won't be. I had covid last Christmas and in the summer. Both mild - the second bout milder than the first and it would have been a two day cold if I hadn't tested.
I possibly had it Dec 2019, assumed it was flu, and it was hideous.

So given I've had it 2/3 times see no need to have a booster.

knittingaddict · 31/10/2022 08:46

A scientist (can't remember his name) said that the body can take many thousands of vaccines without harm. I think I can cope with one flu and one covid a year.

quietnightmare · 31/10/2022 08:47

Jabs made me worse than when I have had Covid three times. I give up with it all now

knittingaddict · 31/10/2022 08:48

I had my booster a couple of weeks ago. Had a sore arm for 24 hours, but only when I lay on it. No other symptoms at all. I thought I was a bit ill with it, but it was just a cold that I caught from my grandson.

LizziesTwin · 31/10/2022 08:49

Had booster the day I was eligible and had this year’s flu jab at the same time. No reaction to either apart from a slightly sore arm (had both in same arm as I sleep on the other).

Arenanewbie · 31/10/2022 08:51

no, I’ve had mine recently. DD and DH had theirs as well. We felt a bit like with cold for about a day or even less and that’s it. We all had new Pfizer.

Beautiful3 · 31/10/2022 08:51

I never had any, and never caught covid and yes I tested regularly through out.

Radiatorvalves · 31/10/2022 08:53

I had COVID and flu jabs 2 weeks ago. Felt a bit ropey for 24 hours. DH works in a big London hospital and has seen some awful sights, COVID related. Kids not being offered a booster, but if they were, they’d be having it.

Gemmanorthdevon · 31/10/2022 08:54

Am not having it.

Had every intention, until I had my flu jab when I was recovering from a cold ( didn't think. Should have ) that floored me...and I can't forget how much the last covid booster got to me either. It was at least a day on the couch! So ima give it a miss this year.

ZeroFuchsGiven · 31/10/2022 08:54

I wont be but I want to. I am far from anti vax but 3 weeks ago I had my flu jab and I am still in agony now.

I didnt realise there were risks associated with injections that can seriously damage your nerves. Due to the jab being given too high up my arm the nerves have been damaged, The pain has been unbearable and is showing no signs of yet when it will get better. I have completely lost all feeling in three of my fingers and the pain from my shoulder right to my fingertips is like nothing ive felt before.

Although my fingers are numb they are extremely painful, I can only describe it as like frost bite, when you have been playing in the snow too long your fingers become painfully numb.

I havnt been able to drive for 3 weeks, can hardly sleep as can not lie on either side so I am just on my back but even then it can become unbearable so have spent many nights sleeping upright in my office chair.

I am at the minute either writhing around in pain or delirious on pain killers.
I honestly dont think I'll ever consciously have an injection again.
