It was on the news but also lots of fb posts from people saying buy a lottery ticket if you didn't get covid at Glastonbury because you are that lucky as so many have.

Hardly surprising I know but it seems its absolutely rife at the moment and it's highly contagious.

Not good news for hospitals and care homes who still have to follow rules around self isolation. Care Homes still have to lockdown if 2 member of staff or mote test positive and lots of hospital staff will also be off.

I highly Doubt that’s true.
in Glad that socially we’re back to normal.
people can have a vaccine if it makes them feel better or stay in

Dancingwithhyenas · 30/06/2022 16:58

I would imagine, even if that is true, that those that went were happy to take that risk- probably low risk and have had it mildly before.

I went to packed conference with work in the spring (by choice) and came back with covid. It was totally worth it!

Runwayqueen · 30/06/2022 17:01

I only know one person who went this year, she caught it.

stayathomer · 30/06/2022 17:06

In Ireland and there’s a lot of Covid at the moment, literally just out of the blue cases trebled with the latest variant and hospital numbers have jumped up. everyone around here who has it have horrendous coughs, chest pains and are feeling awful. Yes concerts etc are back but I don’t know that it’s that, everyone was back to normal meeting up wise some time ago. I think it’s just an awful variant. Hoping things settle soon

MajorCarolDanvers · 30/06/2022 17:06

The news says "scores" have tested positive. That is less than 100.

That is not the same as "nearly everyone" who went.

Pootle40 · 30/06/2022 17:07

Who cares.......

SquirrelSoShiny · 30/06/2022 17:08

I'm not sure why you're getting flack OP. Everyone I know is currently getting covid either on flights / at airports OR at large events like Jubilee parties. It then spreads through the extended family.

At this stage, for many people it literally is a headcold. Here's hoping it stays that way for the majority of people.

whynotwhatknot · 30/06/2022 17:12

anyone heard anything about another booster they originally said we would all get a fourth one but now i hear only cev will

weshouldeatcake · 30/06/2022 17:13

I know 5 different groups (couples and families) that went to glasto and none have come back with covid so guessing that it's media dramatising again.

Buythebag40 · 30/06/2022 17:14

How do they all know? Surely most people aren't testing anymore considering you now have to pay for tests and it isn't a requirement?

User0610134049 · 30/06/2022 17:16

I expect for most people it was a price they were happy to pay and they don’t regret going, especially as it’s around a lot at the moment so could’ve got it anyway

Yes - if I end up with it it would have been 1000% worth it.

Glastonbury is crowded and you spend time standing shoulder to shoulder with people singing and and dancing in packed tents. Coupled with this you are mostly relying on hand sanitizer and baby wipes to keep clean. You are also are staying up late and being active all day while eating a lot of chips drinking a lot - not to mention the high levels of drug usage there - not exactly the best recipe for a strong immune system.

You would be pretty stupid to think that covid would not spread in those conditions.

Berlinlover · 30/06/2022 17:17

I’ve worked on a supermarket checkout for the past two years and a half years without as much as a sniffle, this scaremongering nonsense needs to end.

Ohthatsexciting · 30/06/2022 17:19

I can’t believe there are posters like the OP still around!!

You really miss the good old days of lockdown 😂

It has as far as I am concerned

My friends, family, colleagues, neighbours, acquaintances, the people I met whilst in the two abroad holidays that I have taken this with no covid impact whatsoever, school patents etc…. Literally NO ONE talks about covid anymore. No one!!

BotterMon · 30/06/2022 15:42

Really? Actually anyone who works in Health Care does give a fuck and still has to test twice a week AND isolate if positive. That's so we don't kill off our patients. So why don't you just fuck off with your uninformed garbage.

You doing that for every potential infectious disease you might come into contact with?

Have you ever had to do that for another, mild, infectious disease you may have come into contact with? Like influenza, for instance?

I thought not.

There are vaccines. Immunosuppressed/immunocompromised people have always been vulnerable to infection.

We have to move on. Dwelling on one mild illness forever will destroy the entire country even more than it already has. The consequences of lockdowns are going to be far, far more damaging to health in the long run than covid ever could.

milveycrohn · 30/06/2022 17:24

My DS went to Glastonbury. He's fine, but he has already had Covid anyway, as have all the family.

Spohn · 30/06/2022 17:24

Oh well.

Not sure your tenuous link to festival goers, and healthcare staff quite works, but nice try, I suppose.

Ionianprincess · 30/06/2022 17:25

🙄

IcedOatLatte · 30/06/2022 17:25

I find it very hard to belive that less than 4 days after the festival ended nearly everyone who went there has developed symptoms, has sourced and taken a test and has logged that result online making sure to mention that they had been to Glastonbury

Do you not apply critical thinking to whatever you've read or heard, it's simply not credible that that has happened

balalake · 30/06/2022 17:27

Self isolation coupled with proper sick pay should still be in place for Covid 19 in my opinion.

daisychain01 · 30/06/2022 17:28

Bramshott · 30/06/2022 15:23

There certainly is a lot of it around again right now. I've had it fairly recently having caught it I think over the Platinum Jubilee weekend.

Over 200,000 people went to Glastonbury though, so I strongly doubt that "nearly everyone" came back with Covid.

I don't normally get involved in these discussions, but I can confirm first hand that I know a group of 5 people who went there as a group all returned infected with COVID.

note I have not said "all 200,000 Glastonbury attendees got it" but it is worrying that there is the potential for groups of people reporting sick with the infection which shows it is still out there and still highly infectious. People should still be careful if they don't want it, I certainly don't, hence why I will continue to avoid large groups probably for ever

PiddleOfPuppies · 30/06/2022 17:29

People have come back from a weekend of hard partying and drinking, and then can't come to work on Monday because they've got covid. Uh-huh. Definitely.

Bloomin heck. How depressing for you? No travel abroad? No getting trains or buses or visiting local city? Or enjoying Christmas events? No cinema or theatre or concerts? No school events? Nothing like that?

do you have children?

Gr33ngr33ngr4ss · 30/06/2022 17:34

Nearly everyone. Aye, OK.
