this thread has gone very quiet. Probably a good thing.

However a quick update all the same - England stats.

ONS survey published yesterday showed a further fall.

seven day averages for admissions and number in hospital continue to fall

both now below the levels at this time last year.

Cautiously optimistic that we can have a Christmas without C19 disruption this year. It's all feeling more normal out there lately.

Schools seem to break up quite early for xmsd this year. Mine finish on the 16th which gives us a 10 days to lie low before we see anyone.

Think have seen scientists on Twitter saying the current variants are resulting in lower hospitalisation rates?

That looks good news. If we were going to get the post-half term November upturn I think we might have begun to see it by now, so hopefully we won't get one.

Thanks boys. It's coming up to 2 years since my friend's death from covid. Hard to believe it's been that long yet simultaneously hard to believe people are still on ventilators etc. I haven't heard of anyone getting it severely recently, even though many are getting second and third infections. I've still not had it...I wonder how many others haven't? We must be in a fairly small minority at this point, but lots of my family are in the same boat.

It seems that flu is going to be the bigger issue this winter.
