Thank you, again!

MargaretThursday · 30/09/2022 10:50

Out of interest, on the government site, how do they work out the UK figures in comparison to the nation figures?

I didn't realise there was a reset to UK button so took all the nations separately and added it up. Then noticed and found they don't agree.

In cases the official UK figure is about 1.5million lower than if you add all the nations together.
In deaths it's over 10k lower.
Vaccinations is very similar, but not identical.

For deaths they do have a disclaimer saying the different nations assess differently which may account for discounting some, but there's no disclaimer for cases.
Any suggestions?

Thanks again

Average Brit has been infected twice.

Kids most likely to have been infected.

We've not had it yet either despite having nursery and school age DDs (we still test re vulnerable family members). I have two sibings who have worked in healthcare throughout and tested regularly and still not had it either.

Anybody got data on accuracy of LFTs against current variant?

I'd be interested in this, and which brand as well. Lots of anecdotal tales of testing negative on one, and positive on another. Perhaps they go out of date too?

Rampant "flu" in university at the mo. Everyone ill. No-one testing, so no idea of whether it is freshers, or colds, or flu, or Covid. Everyone just spending a couple of days in bed, then resuming life.

RainStalksMyWashing · 06/10/2022 14:26

@BigWoollyJumpers important to also check throat as well as nose, even for nose only. I'd also be interested in which brands tend to pick up better.
On another note, new data out shows 2.3million now have long covid.

JanglyBeads · 06/10/2022 15:50

They defo have Expiry dates, but I think most I've read have been 2023-ish!
