How quick did your lft go negative?

Symptoms started Friday night, positive test on Saturday AM.
Had awful day Saturday, headache, blocked sinuses, dripping nose, aches, cough, sore throat and temperature.
Sunday had a mild Headache but felt fine whilst on tablets. Cough continues.
Monday, cough but felt fine. Lost taste and smell.
Today I still have no taste or smell and still coughing randomly but only once or twice every 1-2 hours.

Tests are still positive.

Am I expecting them to randomly go negative? Or will they fade over time. I have a family party at weekend and judging by other peoples threads, it's not likely I'll be negative.

I’ve felt fine for the last 3 days (today is day 8) and still positive….although the line is beginning to fade! 🤞

Mustardfan · 22/03/2022 21:55

I’m day 9, still positive, but the line is fading.

Infracat · 22/03/2022 21:56

Doggoo · 22/03/2022 22:00

Also intrigued!

Last time I had it, I got my first negative on day 9. Child 2 is on day 7 and still positive with no symptoms at all since day 0.

Talkwhilstyouwalk · 22/03/2022 22:01

Took bloody ages. 10 days! But I tested upon first subtle symptom which was loss of taste and smell.

Talkwhilstyouwalk · 22/03/2022 22:02

Oh and test faded gradually. Kept thinking it was going to be but then a faint one would pop up after 5 mins or so!

MakeUsACuppa · 22/03/2022 22:02

Interesting, I tested positive today but really faint line, thinking about it I felt rubbish last week but put it down to age/stress.

I'm hoping it'll fade to nothing as opposed to get stronger tomorrow.

Think that's the thing with Covid, everyone is different, so you just don't know!

outofmydepthh · 22/03/2022 22:04

Oh boo :( that is sad. I so hope I get a negative Thursday and Friday.

I tested positive last Weds and am still testing positive, I'm working on not being free til Friday which is day 10

Iamanunsafebuilding · 22/03/2022 22:07

I've only really had cold-like symptoms with added insomnia!

Africa2go · 22/03/2022 22:12

OP I think you'll be missing the party!!

Have lost track of whether the 1st day of symptoms counts as Day 0 or Day 1 but think I'm on Day 8 and still a strong +ve but slightly less dark that the first few days.

bluechameleon · 22/03/2022 22:12

Last time it took 12 days for me to get a negative. This time I really hope it will be quicker.

24hoursfromtulsa · 22/03/2022 22:14

Frosty1000 · 22/03/2022 22:20

@Arcadia what was your day 5 test like?

OP posts:
Luckingfovely · 22/03/2022 22:42

Was still positive on day 8, finally negative on day 12.

Poppy92r · 23/03/2022 00:56

Can I jump in and ask you all a question?

When your line started to fade was that when you started to better?

I got a positive very late Saturday night. Sunday, Monday and Tuesday - I've basically had a cold that's come on gradually.

Sunday i was OK but started to feel achy in the pm. Took paracetamol and felt better.
Monday woke up with elevated temperature and sore throat, took paracetamol fairly regularly and felt OK. But Monday night my nose started streaming and that kept me up all night. I was so bunged up.
Tuesday - I felt a bit brighter in the morning, then again started to go downhill in the afternoon. Nose is so bunged up and runny.

Wondering when I might start to feel better and whether that correlates to a fading line or whether it doesn't make any difference? Like I'm assuming when people get really poorly with covid for a couple of weeks with symptoms they test strong positive for a couple of weeks.

ellesbellesxxx · 23/03/2022 06:29

Day 6 (I didn’t bother testing day 5 as my daughter was a day behind so I couldn’t go anywhere until her day 6 anyway!) she had a faint pos day 5 and mine was neg day 6

Krabby · 23/03/2022 06:36

DS (teen) is day 14 and still positive on lfts.

He was Feeling ill from days 1-4 then fine after that. Had to do the full 10 day isolation from school though.

Cupcakegirl13 · 23/03/2022 06:51

Why are people wasting tests after day 10
?!!
