Covid Moaning Thread

I didn't want to hijack anyone's thread about testing & symptoms but feel free to join me here if you fancy moaning about Covid or if you want company whilst feeling sorry for yourself and / or feeling a bit anxious.

Im triple vaxxed and have Covid for the first time. Tested + yesterday, been having symptoms since Sunday. I don't feel too bad just yet, my chest is sore and I'm quite bunged up but I had very bad healthy anxiety throughout the pandemic so I'm just trying to think rationally and not loose my cool! Definitely helps to talk about it but I'm pretty sure DH won't be able to take it much longer and we are only on Day 2 🤣

Day 6 or so, exhausted

A bit f**ed off that EVERY SINGLE ONE of my friends has messaged ‘oh, you’re not better yet? Thought it was mild?’

  • probably is if your vaccine & booster have not already worn off
Hannah1990x · 08/03/2022 11:28

Day 5, absolutely shattered! Just want to constantly sleep. Triple vaxxed. Agree feels like everyone thinks you should just bounce back to normal! I've been in bed since Friday.

HalloHello · 08/03/2022 11:38

Day 5 here! Congestion, muscle aches and headache has cleared up, still coughing and tired, have a bit of insomnia and lost my smell and taste today 😤
DD Day 10, and DH is day 2 so feel like we are just in a constant loop. Luckily DD can go back to Nursery tomorrow so we can a bit of respite for a while.

MulberryBush700 · 08/03/2022 13:35

@DespairingHomeowner when did you have your booster? I had mine just after Christmas but tbh I'm not sure about the timelines for protection.
It's great when people have mild Covid symptoms but it does annoy me when people just assume it will be. There's no way of knowing really how it will affect you (there you go, my health anxiety kicking in!!) DB, fit as a fiddle, triple vaccinated and developed pneumonia with it last month. But I'd say this, I'm pessimistic 😩🤷🏼‍♀️

@Hannah1990x & @HalloHello I'm sorry to hear you are feeling quite rubbish. Have you had the tiredness all along? I do feel quite fine with paracetamol but I can feel a cough coming on as my chest is getting warmer and warmer. I always get chesty and takes ages to clear up so I'm not looking forward to it. I do keep wondering when & how (if) it's going to get much worse.

I know we don't have to isolate anymore but I've cancelled some plans I was really looking forward to, just doesn't feel fair spreading it around if I don't have to. DH is still testing negative and I'm pretty sure I got it from toddler DS who was a bit poorly mid last week but I never got a chance to test him.

I'm on day 5 and have been quite sick with it. Started with sore throat and headache, then it all just hit me at once. Couldn't stop coughing, sneezing, felt freezing one minute and hot the next, nightsweats...horrible. I do think everyone thinks it's mild and it is in some people but others not so much. No two people are the same. I have afew that have down played it even though they havebt had it just because the people they know have had it only had cold symptoms or a bit of off stomach so they probably think I'm a complete drama queen, but honestly it's been horrendous for the first 3 days. Now I feel like I've got a cold and got no energy and getting better but I certainly do not want it again. Hope everyone feels better soon

DespairingHomeowner · 08/03/2022 16:55

@MulberryBush700: I think the booster efficacy wears off after 10-12 weeks

@Miracle29: sounds v similar to me, it’s now not as bad as 1st 3-4 days but I’m now in day 7 of symptoms, bright positive on test and low energy still… I won’t be back at work this week

whatisforteamum · 08/03/2022 16:56

Same here.temp headache terrible chills sore face ears and body boss wants me back when better not necessarily 5 days off.!
I feel shattered been in bed for 2 days.
Mild yes for coronavirus.
Still horrible.

WeatherwaxOn · 08/03/2022 16:59

Day 5 here. Tired. So, so, tired. I've got very ill symptoms although my tastebuds aren't working properly and I'm a bit headachy. DC is on day 8.

piratehugs · 08/03/2022 17:08

I've got it and am feeling very sorry for myself! I'm not gasping for breath or waiting for an ambulance though, so I feel guilty for all the groaning.

parrotonmyshoulder · 08/03/2022 18:13

I tested positive yesterday but think I started Saturday as I needed a nap in the afternoon. Low energy and mild sore throat Sunday, then headache and other pains hit Sunday night. Last night was the worst so far and I stayed in bed napping till early afternoon when I made it as far as the sofa. DS (10) is on day 5 and very lethargic. DH also positive from yesterday and just starting to feel bad now.
I had to email work this morning and say I was actually ill as people had assumed I was ‘just isolating’.

parrotonmyshoulder · 08/03/2022 18:14

And were therefore forwarding calls etc.

Sunflowersinthewind · 08/03/2022 18:58

Day 3 here, horrific muscle pain all over body. Its just landed in my chest. Never felt so ill

Ijustneedtosleep21 · 08/03/2022 19:35

Tested positive today. Triple vacc'd, baby also positive and DH. Haven't tested toddler as he hates it.

Had a notification of close contact yesterday from the weekend. DH has been feeling crap since Friday so wondering if he has given it to us.

Snotty and bad headache at the moment. Not helped by the baby waking up every 20 seconds during the night for almost a year.

BIWI · 08/03/2022 19:42

@MulberryBush700

I know we don't have to isolate anymore

But we do! You only don't have to self-isolate when you're told you've been in contact with someone who has tested positive. If you have Covid then you do need to isolate, unfortunately.

BIWI · 08/03/2022 19:44

Sorry about your health anxiety though - that must make it much harder Sad

Fingers crossed you won't become too ill with it.

I do apologise, I didn't phrase it properly. What I meant to say was that self isolation is to longer a legal requirement but a guidance / advice.

We do follow this advice as we feel it's the right to do but I do know of people who completely disregard all advice since restrictions have been lifted.
I also know of employers who don't require staff to self isolate with Covid anymore and just ask for the usual sickness policy to be followed if they are too ill to work.

@MulberryBush700 My DS was 'granted' 5 days for isolation, after testing positive (and also showing symptoms). But at the end of the 5 days he was still testing positive - as well as not feeling brilliant. But the problem he has is that because he's on a stupid 8 hr contract, there isn't sick pay for him. So he's pretty much going to have to go back to work tomorrow. I'm hoping he does test negative - and that he also feels better. Sad

FannyFifer · 08/03/2022 22:54

Positive test yesterday.
Feeling pretty crap, triple jagged.
Really chesty, cough & really really tired.

Oh that's terrible! II don't know what I would do if I was unable to work from home. I mean calling in sick with a mild illness (presumably) and potentially only receiving statutory sick pay is a luxury only a very few people can afford. I work part time whilst looking after our toddler and finances are very tight as it is with childcare costs and I count my blessings that I have the ability to work from home, even if I just have a sniffle. It'd be a real struggle otherwise!

Hope everyone is going to have a good night and will be able to rest.

I'm currently sipping some hot tea and had a super hot shower to help me breath, my chest is getting increasingly sore but the weird thing is that I feel ok otherwise. My muscle ache has gone and my nose seemed to have cleared up too. Maybe this is the calm before the storm....? DH is still testing negative. He thinks he has a super strong immune system but I think it's just a matter of time...

Hope tomorrow is going to be a better day for everyone, especially with the poorly little ones, @Ijustneedtosleep21

whatisforteamum · 10/03/2022 09:44

I've had a bad nightsweats but hoping that is sweating this crap out of my system.😁
Just slept for 3 days.

Ijustneedtosleep21 · 10/03/2022 10:17

We are doing ok here. I'm on day 3, had a terrible headache day 1&2 but it seems to have gone a bit. My baby and toddler have chesty coughs and very snotty. DH just feeling a bit meh...

Leftittothelastminute · 10/03/2022 10:21

Day 5 here.... still very positive on the tests. Can't stop coughing, shattered and bunged up. Not moved far from the sofa!

whatisforteamum · 10/03/2022 10:36

Ijustneedtosleep21 that must be hard with young ones to look after.
Leftittothelastminute sorry you are still suffering you sound like me.Exhausted.

Sunflowersinthewind · 10/03/2022 10:42

Day 5 here too. Thought I was day 4 but realised I couldn't count. Body aches gone, snotty chesty and stabby pains across mid section. Skin still hurts but I am slightly better overall
