Who hasn't had covid yet?

We're a family of 5 and only one of us has ever tested positive for covid. We're obviously all bound to get it at some point but it occurred to me that once testing ceases we'll never be able to say confidently that we've had it (unless we're so ill with it that it's confirmed of course, but I hope that's unlikely). It's a bit like the people who were I'll before testing came a thing who thought they'd had it but weren't able to know for sure.

Yesterday I would have said me. But I just tested positive. And told to isolate for 10 days. The6 might need to update some of the advice!

rainrainraincamedowndowndown · 22/02/2022 14:40

None of my family, and extended family on both my side and dh's side had it yet. It feels weird to see so many cases on the news etc.
Everyone's vaccinated, so I do believe vaccine actually works.

Horseyhorsey3 · 22/02/2022 15:08

Family of 4, 2 kids under 6 in full time school/childcare, I worked in an NHS hospital supporting front line staff (fitting and testing their respirators) from November 2020 until end of November 2021... None of us jabbed, none of us have had covid (and may it stay that way- touch wood)

Blubells · 22/02/2022 15:11

Seems that many people have a great immune system, possibly helped by vaccinations or possibly just innately.

I've never had it or test positive (I even did a PCR) when the rest of my family had it.

PupInAPram · 22/02/2022 15:14

@MintJulia I really hope the sun shines on you for your first outing 💐

elisenbrunnen · 22/02/2022 15:22

I've worked throughout, and never got it. Never tested either.
DP works in a hospital, never got it. Tested once or twice a month.

In fact, I know only 4 people who've even had it ( all mildly, even at the start) and 2 of those got it twice.

Covidpositive19 · 22/02/2022 15:34

As my username suggests I currently have Covid! I definitely would've mistaken it for a cold, quite a mild one. I was testing daily because my DC was positive, but I would've ended up testing as I have been doing LFTs for cold symptoms.

It doesn't stand out to any other cold for me at all though, other than it being mild. I had a fecker of a cold a few weeks ago that definitely wasn't Covid, that was much worse.

yikesanotherbooboo · 22/02/2022 16:37

Dd and her BF have both had it at least twice. The rest of us ; DH, me, DS,DDil,and DS2 haven't despite this be being a student and three being health care workers seeing patients every day.

HarrySwotter · 22/02/2022 16:44

Not that I know of!

lljkk · 22/02/2022 20:00

Not me nor DC; however, all DC have been 'exposed' to peers who tested positive soon afterwards.

No one I've seen face to face, in person, at any point since 1 March 2020 has had covid yet (as far as we know).

lljkk · 22/02/2022 20:03

oh wait, I tell a lie! Someone I saw at swimming pool today, she said a few weeks ago she had tested positive in early January. And I did see her at pool sometimes (like maybe 2x) in 2021. Nowhere near the same days when she could have been contagious.

That's scraping the barrel. It's as close as I have to ever being exposed.

ExhaustedMumma · 22/02/2022 20:07

That’s insane @lljkk. I have the opposite - Most of my family, and the majority of my friends have had it. We’ve had it too. Some people twice. It was just like a typical cold with extra fatigue, headache and a bit of eye pain.

UnsuitableHat · 22/02/2022 20:10

Pretty sure I haven’t had it, though famous last words etc. I live alone but work in education and have socialised whenever this has been allowed, so I’m lucky really.

FromEden · 22/02/2022 20:15

I haven't had it. Husband did but didn't pass it on to anyone else in the house. Anti body test a few weeks later was negative so I know I wasn't just asymptomatic.

2YearsOfWastedTime · 22/02/2022 20:15

I hadnt had it

My family hdnt aeen much of each other in 2 years, to keep ‘safe’

Then we decided to see each other last week, after all doing covid tests and all tests coming back negative

Within 2 days all 8 of us have got it, including my 88 year old nan, me and Partner are CEV , iv had 4 jabs …

We are all doing ‘ok’ so far

2boysand1princess · 22/02/2022 20:37

There’s a real high chance that you have had covid with no symptoms.
I’ve had covid twice now and each time I tested because one of my DC had a positive test (used to test weekly for them with lateral flows) only 1 person out of 5 in my family had mild cold like symptoms, the rest had no symptoms that would prompt us to suspect covid. DS (8) and I both tested positive for 48 hours only. Had I not tested in that time I would not have had a positive result and as I had no symptoms I would’ve assumed I was not infected. Also, DH had never tested positive on lateral flows only on PCRs

Glittertwins · 22/02/2022 20:39

So far, none of us have despite DC's classes being struck down a while back.

RunAwayNow · 22/02/2022 21:35

We are a family of 4 and none of us have had it (yet). I have several siblings and none of them or their partners/families have had it either. My parents haven't had it.

I can only think we must have had it at some point but so mildly that we didn't know.

Cherrysherbet · 22/02/2022 21:38

We’ve all had it for the first time this week. It’s just like a heavy cold. Does make me feel achy and tired though.

Pixies74 · 22/02/2022 21:39

Myself and DD5 have recently just had it for the first time (as far as we're aware), but DH and DS3 didn't get it and have not (to our knowledge) had it before.

Would I have known I had it without testing? I'm not sure.. I didn't get any of the big three symptoms, but as a PP said, it was unlike any other illness I've had before.

Random changing symptoms, one day I felt dizzy and lightheaded, another day I felt sick and another had sudden onset of cold symptoms which disappeared as suddenly as they arrived. But would I have linked them all together?!

TDCtomorrow · 22/02/2022 22:19

No lane of my family have had it.

Unanananana · 22/02/2022 22:24

None of us (me, DP, three kids in three different schools between us), nor my mum or DPs parents. DD, DP and I test twice weekly for work/school. I haven't been ill for nearly two years. All adults are triple vaxxed and my 13 year old has had two jabs.

I guess we may have had it asymptomatically though?

ChikaCherryCola · 22/02/2022 22:25

Wow, that's bizarre isn't it? What really terrible luck. I hope you all continue to be 'ok' and recover soon.

Not yet been very lucky.

Rupertgrintismyguiltypleasure · 22/02/2022 22:43

Out of 8 of us 5 haven’t had it, that we know of. We thought for sure we were all gonna get it 2 weeks ago when DB and his gf caught it, but we’ve all got off
