Who hasn't had covid yet?

We're a family of 5 and only one of us has ever tested positive for covid. We're obviously all bound to get it at some point but it occurred to me that once testing ceases we'll never be able to say confidently that we've had it (unless we're so ill with it that it's confirmed of course, but I hope that's unlikely). It's a bit like the people who were I'll before testing came a thing who thought they'd had it but weren't able to know for sure.

Intense Muscle pain. Nerve pain. Nausea. Brain fog. Diarrhea to start with. The cough is so very mild.

popsickle555 · 22/02/2022 12:48

@OinkyO yes sounds like I have had with Omicron. Forgot the diarrhea but also had that at the start! Get well soon (if still unwell).

For those saying you now don’t need to know whether you get Covid, would you not want to know before visiting family and friends who Covid could be a serious illness?

I’ll continue to test in those circumstances.

RockstarDotCom · 22/02/2022 12:54

Me, partner and kids haven’t had it that we know of. I’m not vaccinated so have been testing regularly.

TenoringBehind · 22/02/2022 13:16

3/4 of us here.

OliveTree75 · 22/02/2022 13:18

3/5 in our house! In my life people who haven’t had Covid are the minority now

GnomeOrMistAndIceGuy · 22/02/2022 13:20

DP and I have avoided it so far. I work in a school where there's been massive resistance to the testing/isolating/vaccinating processes and at times school has been absolutely riddled with it. DP is not yet double jabbed and works in a crowded factory where it equally swept through. We're very fortunate.

DockOTheBay · 22/02/2022 13:21

My daughter has had it twice - she just had a cough.
Neither me nor my husband caught it from her either time.

Fuckitydoodah · 22/02/2022 13:22

I'm pretty sure that we've not had it at all (Me, DH and two DC)

MintJulia · 22/02/2022 13:23

Me. I've been having chemo so basically banned from catching covid by the doctors, which meant no going out. It's felt like house arrest since early December.
But it ends today. I can't wait Smile

Fedupsotired · 22/02/2022 13:23

Me and I've tested twice weekly throughout and had numerous PCRs. Have been working in schools too among loads of cases

motherrunner · 22/02/2022 13:25

Family of 4. DH and I are teachers, neither of us have had it. DCs have.

DearlyBeloathed · 22/02/2022 13:39

I haven't, and neither has DH or any of our immediate family.

None of us have ever even had to isolate.

DearlyBeloathed · 22/02/2022 13:39

Though, I think it does help that we have no children!

EatSleepRantRepeat · 22/02/2022 13:42

Never had it in our house - had a few bouts with same symptoms but pcrs came back negative and so did our antibody tests as part of the study. Had the most horrendous flu last week which seems to be everywhere.

Sockwomble · 22/02/2022 13:48

None of us have. Dh has never done a pcr test. I have done one. Neither of us have done a self isolation apart from a few days waiting for test results. Ds has been a close contact a few times.

rollerblind · 22/02/2022 13:54

Family of 4. None of us have had it. Both DH and I go to work; him to an office and me to school. Chn both in school.
I wonder if me being constantly exposed to it has increased my immunity.

Katie517 · 22/02/2022 13:56

I haven’t and nor has my immediate family or in laws. Have a toddler in nursery both me and my husband go into the office, play team sports, go to gym classes and socialize a lot. We have regularly been in contact with people who have tested positive but never caught it. We are never ill though and I do think the fact that we are very healthy, supplement and get lots of fresh air has helped us not to get covid and any of the other usual illnesses that go around.

Againstmachine · 22/02/2022 13:58

Most people in the country haven't had it according to testing, and if you use other metrics it's just guessing.

AliasGrape · 22/02/2022 13:59

I haven’t and nor have DH and DD. My PIL haven’t either. Almost everyone else I know/ am related to has though!

MajorCarolDanvers · 22/02/2022 14:02

Family of 4 - both kids at school and haven't had it (that we know of).

In my extended family a few have had it but most haven't.

Much like the majority in the country.

GeidiPrimes · 22/02/2022 14:02

In spite of having every single symptom of omicron, I tested negative. Thought that was a bit strange.

PupInAPram · 22/02/2022 14:08

Nope, worked in a school throughout (not a teacher, but a specific role that meant I was in every day, even when it was just key worker children). Tested twice weekly so pretty sure I've not even had it asymptomatically. I'm old, so I guess it's just as well. I'm amazed I haven't had it due to the sheer volume of close contact with different children and adults I've had every day. Thanking my lucky stars tbh.

nordica · 22/02/2022 14:08

I've never had it and have done a weekly LFT since March last year so there's a good chance I would have tested positive if I'd had it (and haven't had any covid symptoms).

I was thinking the same about not knowing in the future - although I imagine LFTs will be available to buy online so I'll buy a pack if I get symptoms.
