Have you all had a booster jab?

I’ve had two vaccines but no booster.
Are there a lot of us around?
Are more boosters expected to be rolled out? Or is that it now?

OP posts:

  • I'm unvaccinated. Got Covid. Not even a sniffle.

What are people protecting exactly?*

That’s like saying “I wasn’t wearing a seatbelt when we crashed and I was fine. What are people protecting exactly?”

Abraxan · 11/02/2022 12:11

4 covid jabs so far and another due at the end of the month.

Dh and 19y all triple jabbed, as are almost everyone of our close family and friends, including the younger ones. The teens are all double jabbed.

Shambleseya · 11/02/2022 12:13

Double jabbed and not yet recovered from the 2nd one after several months, so not boosted.

Abraxan · 11/02/2022 12:15

There was no chance we wouldn't be fully jabbed, including any boosters offered. Not only as I'm more vulnerable, but also we wanted to be able to fly on holiday as soon as possible, as easily as possible. We weren't willing to take the risk of having holidays curtailed.

Protecting others who may not be able to have vaccine or who may be CEV even with it, perhaps? Hmm

I know this may not be most people's primary motivation, but it's alarming that some don't even consider it as an important factor. Vaccination is a society benefit, not just a personal one.

Vaccination doesn’t stop transmission! It just reduces severity of symptoms.
RuthW · 11/02/2022 12:18

Those not boosted, why haven't you been? I arrange covid jabs and just wondered

HPLikecraft · 11/02/2022 12:21

@MuffinStrops

But they reduce the likelihood if catching it in the first place! If you don't catch Covid, you can't pass it on.

Why would venues or indeed whole countries insist on vaccinated status for entry if it it may no difference to anyone other than the individual?

clarkkentsglasses · 11/02/2022 12:25

@MuffinStrops my symptoms could not have been reduced with being vaccinated because I didn't have any symptoms to reduce. So how does that work?

clarkkentsglasses · 11/02/2022 12:27

5 vaccines in just over a year!!! Wow.
PamelaDoov · 11/02/2022 12:30

Not boosted. I’m TTC and the last jab fucked up my cycle for weeks. Not risking it.

HPLikecraft · 11/02/2022 12:30

Also @MuffinStrops, since every COVID-19 infection gives the coronavirus a chance to mutate, being vaccinated helps prevent variants.

A new variant could potentially be more serious.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 11/02/2022 12:31

Mainly because there's been no time to conduct full trials on the possible consequences of jab after jab, and secondly because the vaccines are only licenced for emergency use, meaning there's unlikely to be any comeback if any damage resulted

In effect we're all the trial, and it's not something I choose to be a part of

uncomfortablydumb53 · 11/02/2022 12:31

Gratefully boosted as is everyone I know

EmpressaurusWitchDoesntBurn · 11/02/2022 12:34

I had the booster. I’ve been using public transport regularly in London for the past year & finally tested positive this week. It’s like having a bad cold.

Having seen what friends went through when they caught it pre-jabs, I’ll take this.

Brightandyoung · 11/02/2022 12:36

@ThirdElephant

Boosted. Then had COVID a month later- very mild, pretty much asymptomatic.

My friend had it at the same time having only had two jabs and found it pretty tough going. Another friend had it over Christmas having had two jabs and was off for five weeks and is still struggling now with long COVID.

I'd have the booster, OP, if I were you.

I don’t think OP was asking for advice on whether to have it or not Smile
Cherriesarethebest · 11/02/2022 12:37

Yes. Of course!

UseOfWeapons · 11/02/2022 12:53

Boosted.

Luredbyapomegranate · 11/02/2022 13:17

Yes.

Fluffycloudland77 · 11/02/2022 13:50

Both of us boosted.

OutdoorType · 11/02/2022 14:16

Of course. It's a no brainer.

arethereanyleftatall · 11/02/2022 14:44

Why haven't I had booster? Because...

  1. I had covid when I was due to have booster. Advice was to cancel and wait at least one month.
  1. Virus's mutate to become milder, they don't want to kill their host as then they die out too. They want to become highly transmissible and not life threatening, like the common cold, a very 'successful' urus. It is now so mild as to be not life threatening to anyone who wasn't about to die from whatever virus they next got. I consider covid now like flu - I've never had that nor a booster for it.
  1. I was quite poorly after my first two vaccines, worse than I'm been from anything else for at least ten years.
  1. I don't like putting pointless chemicals in my body. I had the first two to protect others, not myself, and now that we know you can carry it anyway, I don't feel I need to to protect society any more.
MissConductUS · 11/02/2022 14:45

secondly because the vaccines are only licenced for emergency use, meaning there's unlikely to be any comeback if any damage resulted

Pfizer and Moderna have full approval in the US.

SartresSoul · 11/02/2022 14:51

Yup, had it last month. DH has decided not to because of myocarditis risk being higher for a male his age than covid. Had his first two though. I’m not arguing with him because it isn’t worth it, his choice ultimately.

Fluffycloudland77 · 11/02/2022 14:57

Viruses don’t always mutate to be milder, HIV hasn’t, neither has Ebola, lassi fever, meningitis, Hepatitis B & C.

Fluffycloudland77 · 11/02/2022 14:58

Oh and flu still kills people. Epstein Barr virus has been linked to cause multiple sclerosis later in life which can also significantly reduce your life expectancy.
