Anyone else isolating and feeling grumpy?

Mamabear12 · 11/01/2022 16:27

I am feeling so grumpy today. It is day 3 for me. But I have been stuck at home days before that because two of my kids got covid first. It is the worst to be sick when you have kids. They have no idea of giving you a break....argh. They whine and whinge they are bored. They are SO annoying. I just want to recover from covid and be able to relax while doing so! My kids had no symptoms and have been full of energy the whole time. I had fever, aches, headache, sore throat and a small cough. It has not been too bad when I take paracetemal. But I am also more fatigued. And I have to help homeschool them, plus just deal with all their daily needs. I am just fed up with isolating them. They have both been negative for two days but need to isolate until Thursday. I am fed up with this shitty weather. ARGHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sunshine....spring....where are you??

Anyone else feel the same? What day are you on? What are you doing to cheer up? I am watching the hobbit (only 10-15 mins at a time because that is all I can manage with the kids around or me having to do something else.). But I do enjoy that movie :)

Day 3 here too! I have lots of different things to occupy me - jigsaw, knitting, book, plus I can still WFH. I'd be happy to stay in my room, but DH insists on me joining him in the kitchen for meals (which he prepares). He's still negative on LFT, and I really don't want him to get it, so I'm grumpy!

CovidCorvid · 11/01/2022 17:56

Yes, only on day 1 and grumpy already. Sadly I’m having to work from home. Feeling poorly

Mamabear12 · 11/01/2022 18:13

Now I know why I am so grumpy. I just got my freaking period. ARGH. The last thing I need when having covid is my period. :(

@StoopitAutocarrot if I could isolate in my room I think it would be better. I need to rest, but still have 3 kids and a dog to deal with when my husband works. The youngest is 2. The older two are home bc they had covid first. I have to cook their meals and my meals. I just had cereal for dinner... You are luck your husband is cooking for you :)

@CovidCorvid ah that sucks to work while sick. But if you are feeling poorly, cant you take the day off of work, or just work here and there?

At least my dog has stopped vomiting all day. Yesterday, i had to clean her vomit off the carpet....4 times and then once off the hardwood floor. Poor thing caught covid from the kids. At least the kids are better...thank goodness!!!!

@Mamabear12 the dog caught it?!

I didn't even know that was possible. Is that confirmed by a vet?

Invasionofthegutsnatchers · 11/01/2022 18:17

I'm grumpy as fuck too. My kids don't care when I'm ill.

Mamabear12 · 11/01/2022 18:19

@Invasionofthegutsnatchers lol me too. My son actually said that I am not ill! Geez. I guess it is because i am never ill so they can not believe.

I just want to be healthy again. I hate being ill and worrying.

Day 3 here too - 4 positive PCR’s on same day here, me, DH, DS22 and DS19. Youngest son quite poorly, eldest son worrying (he’s a worrier) about how I’ll fed going to get and DH driving me up the wall with his coughing/snoring/just being anywhere near me. I just want to be I’ll in peace, on my own. I may bury DH under the patio before 10 days is up.

Mamabear12 · 11/01/2022 20:00

@LadyPenelope68 lol. I feel the same way....just want to have peace while I am trying to recover! Try telling that to a 2 year old....and heck my almost 10 year old keeps coming in and moaning she is bored. I am like - I AM SICK!!!! LET ME REST! Geez! At least my 8 year old is happy to watch tv :)

@Mamabear12. Just my current workload is insane and I don’t have time to be sick. Back to back meetings tomorrow morning. Maybe I’ll take the afternoon off.

For other people did you find symptoms improved or got worse over the first few days?

CovidCorvid · 11/01/2022 20:33

At least I don’t have kids to look after.

Dh refused to go to the chippy for me! Said I could have oven chips instead. Could happily kill him!

LadyPenelope68 · 11/01/2022 20:34

@CovidCorvid
4 in our household all positive, symptoms got much, much worse over first couple of days.
If you’re ill then you need to take time off, nobody is indispensable, if you have to, cancel meetings.

Oh dear. I feel fairly shit now! I’m not good when I’m poorly and not looking forward to getting worse.

Mamabear12 · 11/01/2022 20:49

@LadyPenelope68 what days did they get worse? I am on day 3 and nervous about getting worse. Right now its mild....not comfortable, but with paracetamol or ibprofen it is okay. I first had 2-3 days of very mild sore throat (still testing negative, but kids had covid so I was testing daily). Then I woke with fever, aches, headache, worse sore throat and tested positive. My sore throat is gone, but fever and aches still there when the meds wear off. I have a mild cough.

@Mamabear12
I’m day 3 and feel way worse tonight than I did this morning. One son and DH exactly the same. Other DS is on day 5 and he was much worse day 4/5, infact I think today is the worst he’s been.

Mamabear12 · 11/01/2022 20:57

Oh no. I am sorry to hear that. I am hoping we all wake up tomorrow feeling much better. Are you taking paracetamol or ibprofen? That helps me feel better.

Woke up in the small hours coughing quite a bit and couldn’t get back to sleep for about an hour but have woken up today not feeling any worse than yesterday. Still tired, nose still feels bad and a little bit breathless.

Serenschintte · 12/01/2022 08:09

Hi 🙋‍♀️ we are on day 4. Dc1 has symptoms - he’s 17, came back from a trip with friends w Covid.
Hes feeling a lot better and I feel like I’m just waiting to get it.
Dc 2 is fed up. In theory back to school on Tuesday but only for Dc 2 if he doesn’t catch it.
I feel like I’m floating through the days. Not sad but just sort of resigned and fed up. Plus I think my period is starting as well.
Both my dc like to bake. So that’s there plan for today.
I might try to do some extended book reading.
We are lateral flow testing every day so we can go for a Pcr as soon as we get a positive (not in the Uk) as it helps with the Covid passport. So far negative and Dc1 came home Saturday

LadyPenelope68 · 12/01/2022 08:38

Anyone else got the loss of taste and smell? Sitting in bed with a freshly brewed coffee and a gorgeous scented candle on and can’t taste/smell either ☹️☹️ Think I’m going to find this bit of COVID really annoying!

LadyPenelope68 · 12/01/2022 08:38

@Serenschintte
Fingers crossed you all remain negative x

Serenschintte · 12/01/2022 10:04

Actually @LadyPenelope68 I’d like to be positive! We have vaccine passports here for everything except shopping ands public transport. If you get Covid you don’t need a booster (I had really unpleasant reaction to my second Moderna) and your vaccine pass gets a year added from your infection recovery date. So getting infected would be quite convenient. And it would make it easier to travel to Italy with Dc2! He’s under the age for a vaccine passport in Switzerland but the rules in Italy are different.
Crazy I know 😂

Mamabear12 · 12/01/2022 10:06

@CovidCorvid it is so annoying waking in the night and not being able to fall right back to sleep. Same thing happened to me at 2am. I tossed and turned for an hour!

@Serenschintte hello! How are you feeling? Do you have any symptoms or is it just dc1 that has symptoms? I got my positive PCR test at midnight. Pretty fast.

@LadyPenelope68 so far my smell and taste is fine and same with my sister family and my kids.

So far I woke with no fever and feeling slightly better. I hope this means I am on the med. My kids are freaking driving me nuts though.....they are so annoying. Fighting half the time, whinging, whining, too full of energy. No regard for when I am sick or tired. I hate it and its making my grumpy. ARGH. I woke in a good mood and just had to shout at them because they are constantly bickering with each other and being annoying.

Bleurgh, my sainsburys order was due between 10 and 11. Hasn’t arrived- they say they attempted delivery but there was no response.I’ve been here all morning!

Invasionofthegutsnatchers · 12/01/2022 12:25

That's so irritating @StoopitAutocarrot I would ring customer services.

I feel a little less grumpy today. Have managed some banana milkshake and then soup for lunch. Kids have both had a bath and are leaving me alone. They aren't shrieking and I'm netflixing so all is good. The house is a state but I don't have the energy. Wiped the kitchen and put a wash on. That'll do

LadyPenelope68 · 12/01/2022 12:59

@StoopitAutocarrot
Oh that’s not good, definitely give them a ring.
My Ocado delivery arrived earlier, I’ve just eaten a full bag of these but can’t taste them. Feel proper miserable and grumpy today.

Anyone else isolating and feeling grumpy?
StoopitAutocarrot · 12/01/2022 14:45

They managed to re deliver just after 1.

Dh picked me up a McDonald’s milkshake for lunch- not something I’d normally go for but it’s sooo soothing on the throat.
