Vaccine inequity in operation. Novak Djokovic gets a medical exemption from being vaxxed for the Australian Open, while a 17-yr-old Indian player is denied entry because India has not begun vaccinating the under 18.

They've just said on news the reason Gov have given is public order as he might "excite anti-vax sentiment"
How can the Gov prove that?
Surely if the Gov were serious they should have gone for something easy to prove like lying on visa application and ignoring public health requirements when covid positive.
He's already admitted to both of these🤷🏼‍♀️

He has incited protest and anti vax sentiment. All his daft family and friends protesting and making accusations. Entitled twats.

I think that was just a comment from the news source you heard. The actual statement from Alex Hawke reads:

“Today I exercised my power under section 133C(3) of the Migration Act to cancel the visa held by Mr Novak Djokovic on health and good order grounds, on the basis that it was in the public interest to do so."

A decision is imminent. Gut feeling they'll let him stay.

I came across this article. He believes his success is down to being anti-science generally. He believes he's telekinetic and in the power of 'long hugs' 🧐

Novak Djokovic has lost his Federal Court fight to stay in Australia

His application has been dismissed.

I am so glad he’s been thrown out, he seems to think he can do whatever he wants. I dislike him even more now.

I agree.

Wow I did not see that coming.

Good luck to the 'lucky loser' who gets to take his place tomorrow!

Florianus · 16/01/2022 09:05

At least Djokovic has made a nice polite statement about accepting the verdict of the court - I dread to think what his mum will say, though.

milkyaqua · 17/01/2022 06:23

Lawyers drafted that, I'd bet.

The fury in his eyes was something else - like an angry spiteful nine-year-old...

whynotwhatknot · 17/01/2022 12:46
