@Verite1

Why do people post such nonsense without checking. You can book cinema tickets next week - I have checked.
Checked three cinemas locally and all have showings this week and next week, all available to book. No issues with availability or not being able to book here.

@sadpapercourtesan

Yes, that is exactly what they do! I've just got off the phone to a very snooty woman who told me to go back and backfill all the data from the days I've missed (due to being knackered having Covid and a houseful of guests). We requested the damn thing so we could keep an eye on my CEV father who is infected (we all are). Not so they could ride me like a fucking pony for meaningless data for days on end Angry

I suppose the box isn't big enough to just keeping writing "still ill" each time Angry I'm convinced most of this data is just deleted by the work experience child anyway, which is why we have to repeat so much of it over and over...

very good question Amanda from Cheshire re Lateral Flow Tests and can you use them within 90 days of testing positive

(Sir) Chris Whitty- yes you can use them on day 6 & 7 to look at whether you're still infectious

rrhuth · 04/01/2022 17:24

I hate how dismissive he is of everything 'how quick it blows through' ffs

Nidan2Sandan · 04/01/2022 17:26

Whoop whoop! No more restrictions for now

Excellent news Grin

But equally we've been told in the past they can continue to show false positives so cannot be relied upon, which can cause problems for people who need clear tests to work or travel etc.

Cinemas can stay open, it can take our minds off the the rest of it by seeing ' west side story '
We have to 'power through the waves' , Boris Johnson is on a surf board taking us all with him hoping we don't drown.
Covid is moving up the age ranges though. Sir Patrick is being quite gloomy. He isn't' powering ' through anything with Boris Johnson

rrhuth · 04/01/2022 17:27

I think Vallance is sounding pretty gloomy yes.

Maybe he has been reading about this other variant in the South of France Shock

whatever channel he's on, i will be watching the other side

AlecTrevelyan006 · 04/01/2022 17:30

they’ve stopped saying omicron ‘might’ be milder and confirmed that it is.

LumosSolem · 04/01/2022 17:30

Oooh good another one to generate hysteria on here 😁

LumosSolem · 04/01/2022 17:33

Never thought I'd be glad we have Boris as PM 😁

Hasn't that one been around since November/ early December and they've only found 12 cases in all that time? It doesn't seem able to compete with Omicron, which is good news.

Cherrytart23 · 04/01/2022 17:35

@herecomesthsun

still waiting for the NYE celebrations to affect the figures

get boosted!

it's not altogether a mild disease!

next slide please

Nye celebrations won't affect the figures. seems only schools being open effects the figures 🤔 or so the majority of the population claim.

Yes that is what I understood, they think Omicron will outperform it
quiteathome · 04/01/2022 17:38

I couldn't be bothered to watch it. Just catching up on here.

Obviouslynotallthere · 04/01/2022 17:40

Who the f* does he think he is, Churchill? He's an absolute arse and the only people I'm interested in listening to are the scientists.

I agree.

The body language is so telling. Vallance and Whitty are clearly not able to say what they really think about the impact on the NHS.

ClaudiaWankleman · 04/01/2022 17:43

VAT on energy bills! It's quite nice to hear something other than covid to be quite honest. Feel like it is the only thing we've been allowed to think about for the last two years.
